Not to sound offensive, which this may come off as, but what exactly did YOU do? I see cyanogens work here with his rom and anothers devs mouse.update...but what did you contribute? i mean other than this guide i feel like many people are thanking you but you to be honest did nothing but pull some links and a a few steps together for a guide. But hey what do i know? :P (im just a member on Androidcentral with a 2000+ post thread about cm and over 550 individual posts)
@enzofall +200 hours testing and analysis of both HDMI apps (You can verify with teamwin and orrebmas). Testing and analysis of the mouse pointer code. Providing tech support in six languages. Custom keymap, and browser theme (which required breaking the browsers themeing but not the browser). Shall I continue?
@TheLokifish I know i did come off as sarcastic and bit critical, which i meant to be, but i honestly did want to know? With that said i appreciate your work with it. You can see where i come from when many people in this community unjustly take credit for projects where they barely contributed. Thank you sir i have been put in my place
@enzofall I completely understand where you are coming from. I made it a point that the devs received credit in AC and XDA threads as well as individual users that have helped with this. I also tend to only post data and support responses but little to no "chatter" so I can see where senior members would initially think noob but I'm used to it. :)
Excellent video and CM7 rocks with my EVO. The only thing that does not quite work is there is no mouse pointer anymore. I am going to go back to CM6 for this reason.
While this is not practical for everyone yet, I do believe that phones will be the next computing system for the average "joe blow". With my phone, I can do almost everything that I need it to do and almost replace my personal computer. Items that I can't perform on my phone, I can simply RDP to a Linux or Windows machine.
what is the point? you are using a phone on a computer.....but the computer can already do all of that without the phone....seems like a horrible thing to waste your time on....
@liquidlightnight Actually there's NO COMPUTER INVOLVED, it's just an Evo, KB/mouse and a monitor. Seeing that I'm now with a PC at all this is very useful. I've even done updates to my website using this.
@judasidfer I played with this on a friends Galaxy S and got it to work, I wasn't able to spend much time on it so I'm not sure how stable or repeatable it is. In short I'd say, maybe?
Thanks for plugging my video in there Loki, your set up is legitimate and fully functional. Mine was more proof of concept. Way to take this and run with it.
I know you are fully aware, but they created a zip for CM7 that brings back mouse support. Keep up the good work man! I hope you get a job soon, but until you do, we have been benefiting from your free time!
@bradleyw801 The first time I saw your video was on my Evo desktop but my KB died and I had to wait to do the vid. Per oldtimer hacking and modding rules, first to post is credit and all else after is derivative.
Very nice
