  • There is nothing about this song or this clip that is not fantastic.

  • YES, taped off NYNEX, recog the volume graphic. :D

  • Those girls had no underwear on. I should know... I was there. I was roadie and back stage they cheekily showed me. I thought it was cool for cats.

  • Funny how there is no synchronisation between the dancing girls, seem as they are just out of their mind on drugs

  • Tony loved the crossfading arses at the end!

  • This video is cooler for humans than for cats, this I'm quite sure of, or else cats like to stare at asses in red latex. But I don't think they do.

  • @WAMEDJO Cats are strange creatures...they do like to Party!!

  • Whats with the slappers?

  • @googleisshittoss I think they are there, to service the lads back stage!

  • @cutehappyhippo yup!

  • @cutehappyhippo Probably.

  • It's great to hear someone singing in their own regional accent rather than adopting a fake American one The Proclaimers, the Arctic Monkeys and Ian Dury did the same thing on a regular basis.

  • Who is the lady with brown hair singing with the blond one?, sorry i have forgotten.

  • is that jools on the floor?

  • @MasterzInGrime Yes It''s jools he use to be one of the band members. If I recall he put the band together.

  • @MasterzInGrime it is indeed

  • great song

  • Amazing song totally diff from other squeeze tunes hes got a real IAN DURY voice on im on this song, R.I.P iAN DURY.we miss ya and the blockheads.

  • this is a great song, its just apity that the end instrumental is waayyyyyyyy too long. The verses and lyrics make this song what it is, yet they appear to just give up half way through the song. There was room for sooooo much more !!

  • I've got my ticket for Squeeze playing at Greenwich Summer Sessions on the 29th July, can't wait!

  • How are their necks not breaking by dancing like that

  • OMG, those dancing girls... they're the definition of ridiculous.

  • what were those girls on?..luv 'em lol

  • Hehe, a fish guitar..... cant say that aint cool 4 cats

  • TOTP is shite, horribly obvious miming. ahwdnjkmlaw;'#d

  • love the fish tied to the guitar :)

  • The Indigenous Americans send signals from the pass... nah...

  • is that jools on the floor ??

  • hehe well considering back in 78 I had a pure east ender accent. Now it only comes out if I am pissed off or drunk :)... or talking to English people. But I was a huge squeeze fan in 70's. Was one of the few bands my parents let me listen to

  • jezz I feel old, I remember the first time this came on the air. loved it back then...It'd still a good one. Scary to listen to how I used to talk thirty years ago :). Sadly I have an aussie accent these days....

  • @TassyFC2 what do you mean sadly? The Aussie accent (except victorians and perhaps queenslanders) is the best accent to have. In particular those in South Australia (which I have been constantly told all my life have a very distinctive and clear pronounciation of words with a hint of a English accent)(Im a SAer) I can just barely remember when this song came out too. I thought it was about gays.

  • at different parts when the lead is singing they sound a bit like the Hoosiers? or is it just me?! lol

  • CHRIS DIFFORD at CITYSHOWCASE FESTIVAL 2011!

He will be hosting the seminar "SONGLINK LIVE CRITIQUE AND SONGWRITING"

" at the Apple store in Regent Street, London on the 7th of May

visit cityshowcase.co.uk to get the tickets!

  • :D OMG, "blondie" on the right side looks like Samantha Fox! Do ya do ya...?!

  • cocaine

  • Every time I see dancing girls on 70s/80s music shows I just see Mother and her friends... bleurgh

  • The singer looks like Tim Lovejoy...

  • my favorite part when he put it on mute for a second :3

  • I love how he has a fish taped to his guitar...

  • Man the red Lycra.. I want to fuck some 80's bitches

  • xd

  • The squaw is actually a possible swear word. I remember my mother superior who probablblbibblybobbly worked in the reservtion said "sqauw means CUNT or something". But I stand to be corrected Please let me know in no uncertain terms if I have actually 'slipped up' I will forgive your brutal unfeeling treatment of me and shall work towards an uncompromising compromise.

  • @Seaventeares for indians, the squaw is the wife

  • SHITE

  • @wullieready Well fuck off then!

  • @wullieready Fair enough. That's cool for cats with me.

  • I always find it hard to believe Squeeze aren't more famous, They're amazingly good!

  • this was 1979 music ? fuck... John lennon was still alive till late 1980 interesting... modern music.. tho john lennon was more of a classic style of the 60s and 70s kinder lookalike. course in 1979 there was modern rock bands who looked quite modern like the 80s

  • This is great

  • Those chicks rock!

  • Uninhibited British Gals, give me wood!~

  • great song but does anybody remember the funny clip of this song, i can't find it anywhere!!

  • 'Give the dog a bone'.... that's an old one!

My personal favourites are 'Nookie' and 'A bit of how's-your-father"!

  • ...I'm invited in for Coffee and i give the dog a bone...Not quite Eminem..but still good..

  • what they was a band playing?

  • Good song when it came out, but it hasn't stood the test of time. Sounds very dated now. Mind you I doubt that it was written all those years ago, with the aim of still sounding good 30 years in the future, in 2011.

  • wish them women would just fuck off

  • I wanna do those two spandex girls and jools can watch and play piano.

  • Cool wireless instruments...

  • this english accent and ringo starrs accent i bloody hate makes them sound uneducated and poor only way i can describe it .

  • @aussiebluemax Your name tells us much the same cobber ;o)

  • @Stanters1967 yes that we are free and have built a great nation from nothing and we speak english clearly .

  • @aussiebluemax

    Kind of like rap eh?

  • @Enigmatism415 teetering toward rap..

  • @aussiebluemax Good job you never listened to Oi! music then. Being Uneducated and poor doesn't make any one a lesser person or musician.

  • If those chicks were wearing short skirts, the guy on keyboard would have a nice view

  • @superemposed the guy on the keyboards? the great jools holland

  • MIAOW :D

  • The song is great but the ladies are going to get whiplash if the shake any faster!

  • this song is on rockband

  • I know I'm old, but am I really the only person who knows who the two women are? (I couldn't be arsed to read seven pages of comments ...)

  • jools holland on the floor?

  • The bassist from squeeze is in a new band called The Jar Family, check them out on myspace/facebook.

  • @alnic77 Yes he is in our band, check our channel out!

  • Somebody should call an ambulance for those girls..

  • Music at its best,That's if you included Ian an the Blockheads

  • Love this song & just so wanted to have a girlfriend like one of the dancing girls

  • I like the song, but I feel SO BAD for those two women XDDD

  • i wish they still made music like this its so catchy now evry thing is like makeup and autotune crap im 16 and id like to know what other bands are like this bloke

  • those dancing girls are amazing!

  • I've just noticed how similar this song is to spitting image - never met a nice south african

  • possibly my new saying COOL FOR CATS!

  • No..The backing singers were called 'The Fabulous Wealthy tarts' and provided backing on quite a few tracks at the time including Paul Youngs hits a few years later

  • this blond girl looks like Debbie Harry from Blondie...is it possible?

  • Saw them last week. Been a fan for about three years now, I'm only 15 but I actually love them! They're really good live aswell. I saw Glenn Tilbrook on his solo tour aswell last year, honestly think he's as good solo as wil Squeeze. I'm trying to get some of my friends into decent music, almost there. Got some into Madness and about 2 people into these! <3

  • This is... halarious. And also the worst shit I've ever heard. lol

  • @Solar2 Are you joking??? Hope so? What u into gary glitter??

  • This song is fuckin cool - no other way to say it, sorry...

  • Just got tickets for the 100 club 0n the 14th GET IN and Terry Hall DJing, does it get any better????

  • So so catchy...i wish people would still dance like that lol

  • My 6 year old adores this song! LoL! She loves 70's/80's! Must of been listening to my music for too long :)

  • I AM addicted to the eighties :-)

  • I remember last year on the car radio this song came on, and they started playing an ACOUSTIC VERSION! It was Awesome, the poor guy was almost out of breath by singing and playing the guitar! I'd say it's even better than this version! I'll never forget the amount of Laughter after the song had finished! The sad thing is I haven't seen or heard an Acoustic version ever since then..... It was truely an Awesome and Rare moment in music history!

  • Saw Chris Difford a while ago, first I'd really heard of Squeeze. Bloody ace he was too, just one man and a guitar and incredible funny songs. Poignant too.

  • i heard this on cbc radio when it came out

on mondo mono! which then later become

    brave new waves.... cbc radio

    cool man!

  • @newaver64 my older siblings were addicted to Squeeze in the 80's

  • 1:34, Jools knows improv doesn't happen twice

  • Stupid song! The lyrics to the last two verses make me cringe!

  • @verkaforever Good we won`t see you posting crap here again then

  • There's no need to be rude. It's this song I don't like, not Squeeze.

  • @verkaforever it's all tongue in cheek

  • I love Squeeze!

  • 2:25 nice ass

  • I heard in an interview the writer got inspiration from the Benny Hill show.. must be where the innuendo comes from

  • Lovw it, love it, love it!

  • The girls are great!!!!!!!!

  • Génial. Bravo.

    Bon souvenir.

  • Is it me or does the blonde look like Debbie Harry?

  • @Suprahampton yes her hair really does.

  • Some Lassies those two eh? What are their names? x

  • @gbuck1982

You lucky bugger. I'm a bit older than you.

I didn't grow up in England, but I loved the accents - it sounded as though it was someone from the Sweeney singing it. No faux American accents.

The Squeeze was immensely popular without becoming megastars, although Jools Holland is definitely A-list. He's a sad loss to music.

  • @DutchSteamboat Sad loss to music...? Jools aint dead

  • I wanna party with those 2 girls!

  • me and my dad used to put this on in our living room, full volume, and dance around until we couldn't feel our ankles anymore. (:

  • Great song, but a shit copy.

  • Excellent.

  • ok, i'm 28, and wasn't even born when this came out, but bloody love it! please can some people educate me on these people, why haven't I already? I blame my parents for not telling me!

  • @gbuck1982 Yeh, your folks should be hung, drawn and quartered for not introducing you to Squeeze. Well, had a go at anyway ;-) Rather than me type loads and loads here you should just look up Squeeze on YouTube. Chris Difford has just released some new versions of his songs too. Another member of the band was Jules Holland who went off on his own and you might like his stuff too. Both of them are VERY talented. They all get back together and Squeeze do surprise gigs now and again

  • @gbuck1982 DOH !!! Jools Holland not Jules. And Glen Tilbrook, who wrote a lot too does stuff on his own. Dunno what country you're in but look up a BBC programme called " Later with Jools Holland " You might find some stuff on there ya like

  • @MrXenophobe Cheers for the reply. I'm actually from England! I've seen Later With Jools Holland loads of times, just never knew his musical background. This lot were way ahead of their time if you ask me. Thanks again

  • @gbuck1982 Ok buy a greatest hits & at least the first 4 albums. They come from South London & arrived at the right time in the charts in 1978 & were
