I bet it would go better on the grill. I bet if you used a chuch steak and did the same thing over a grill and cooked it really slow it would be even better.
Maybe it's not in America , or where do you live i haven't interested in that yet; but you could use Red's Fresh flavored beer , because it's lower on alcohol volume (2.3%) than most light beers. It does taste good , i tried it and , i don't know why you worry , the meat's well , WELL done with that , of course i added some of my ingredients to make it full of aromas , or how you call them ( I am from Romania, i have learned English at 2 from cartoon network :-) ) and it works , and the taste mm
My mother made us marinated steak once ( i remember this well because it was the best ), lasted 6 days , got marinated from night to day, but it was worth the wait. To tell you Mr. Barret, coke is not well for that ='( , and paprika hm ... I would say you should add more , 1/2 isn't enough.

For all encouragements , please do more ! We love your cooking !
Many of the "safe" ingredients of Coke break down easily in heat to their neurotoxic and carcinogenic components. You may want to do a little research ...
It's easy. take a can of beer, (open it of course) stuff it inside of a whole chicken. place on the grill. when the chicken is done, you have beer can chicken. Great taste, juicy all that good stuff.
I have no idea why people think that cooking with Coke is bad or gross. It is a great marinade: just like beer, orange juice, or italian salad dressing.
In fact, when my mother makes the sauce for enchiladas, she adds Coke. The soda gives the sauce a nice round and a bit of a soft-sweet taste--none of that enchilada-in-a-can stuff.
Yes, in fact this one had a liquid one remember. The onhly issue is the sugar burning and if this one survives any of them should. Take a look at my flank steak marinade, that works in a pan as well. try it and let me know. :-)
Yes, but do it with coke instead of the beer and make sure to let it marinate for 2 hours if possible. Make sure to watch the full episode for more tips. Take a picture and send it in.
Totally understandable. You know, Dr Pepper could give an interesting flavor too, I've used it on a fresh ham, not sure what it would be like with beef.
Have a great show, Rob! I think you'll get more attention if you wear a hat like mine, though : ) I'll send you a video response with my costume for inspiration.
The rub worked great. I use a tablespoon of merlot wine with 1/8 cup of Olive oil, then the rub. Try that. Wine breaks down the beef, acts as a natural tenderizer. Old trick from a local steak house from St. Paul. Mancinii's.
Thanks so much for letting me know how it went. You rock. I'll have to try the wine, for the Father's day episode I'm trying to keep it with beer just for the Dads part. :-) Thanks again for making it. peace. rb
I made something similar before. my advise is to try and leave the steak marinading as long as possible, I usually leave it 1.30 to 2 hours, use extra virgin olive oil when cooking. also try grilling the steak. I prefer my steak well done. I hope this helps Rob, good luck and congratulations =)
we tried this rub and looooved it!!!! its used for lots of things now, but i have to say it was too peppery so we've cut back on that

@burntonion05 See the final episode, I did do it on the grill although it works amazingly well in the pan. But what is a church steak?

@cookingfordads Sorry for the typo. I meant chuck steak.

Try using a non-alcholic beer like O'dul's
venturabats 3 years ago
On the show I'm cooking with a young kid and, understandably, they don't want beer around, so I don't think that will fix it, but thanks.
Actually, I made it with the Coke tonight and it works pretty well. Possibly even better.
