@shootthis123 The guy kicks like a piece of shit, his three kicks at the end tell me everything. His angle is horrible, his rotation is horrible, his balance is horrible, momentum is horrible, everything is horrible. I'm not saying this to annoy anyone, I'm saying this because I want to prevent anyone from copying this garbage technique.

@shootthis123 also, the same guy who uploaded this video posted another one called 'checking leg kicks in kickboxing'. I almost can't wait to see what you think about that video.
@zinowor Regardless of what I think, I wouldn't presume to know more than someone that works and owns a training facility and has 4 people that have gone on to Belator, and 3 people who have gone on to UFC. I'd post a video to offer proof. Got a video yet?
@shootthis123 I'm not criticizing these guys for their fighting skills, I'm criticizing their incorrect and incomplete way of demonstrating proper roundhouse kicks.
Listen, I love martial arts and I just get annoyed when I see videos like these, where they try to give advice on how to do correct techniques. But then they dont actually know what the correct technique is, or atleast they think they do.

Everyone comments on peoples videos saying what they're doing is wrong, and then they tell them how to do it right. Its so annoying, there's DIFFERENT techniques. Youres is not the perfectly correct one so shut the fuck up
Wow... Muay Thai, what fucking Muay Thai? I've only been doing mma a few months now and traditional styles and kickboxing for about 15 years. That is no muay thai round kick. That's an embarrassment he didn't turn his fucking hips over at all, no hand motion, the shoulders aren't rolling down... nothing. It's disgusting. I can kick better than this after a fucking 1/5th of vodka expert my fucking ass
You know im not one to get on here and critique videos, but being a serious practitioner of Muay Thai im ashamed of this vid LOL!!!! That technique was awful, I guess you can get by with that in MMA though.
it needs his kicking arm to swing, while keeping his left arm up or across his face and the hip to be thrown. Sorry for the critique, but for the new people learning, this will generate more power and defense while kicking.
he should swing his hand as a counter weight if he is kicking using his right leg for more balance and his left feet should rotate 90 degrees towards the left for more power.
im dont think i know everything about muay thai but, those kicks weren't very good.. my trainers tells us to kick 'through' your oponent, to generate more power, but this guy stopped once he touched pad.
Is it me or every expertvillage's videos REALLY sucks?? Anyone that praticed Muay thai for more than a year can realize that they are making terrible mistakes...
KEYBOAR DWARRIORS, MAKING BAD COMENTS ON YOUR VIDEOS: First, thank you for taking time, without charge, to help out people wishing to learn, and even those of us, who've the experience from competing/etc., yet need to periodically review n renew. I love how he drops his left arm from his chin completely opening it for an easy knockout,is not 'set' back on his feet before throwing kicks therefore being off balance as he launches his next kick, has bad rotation in his hips with terrible stance to top it off.I'm a beginner and I can tell this is complete shite.
This is a Thai Roundhose kick, I call it football kick. Basically everybody can do this without any practice, it is absolutely non technical. Kickboxing Roundhose kick however more demanding like alirizwan91 described before. Also you need hip function and rotation to get it powerful. There is no hip function on this video at all!
I am anything but angry, you see things the way you do and I may not change that. All I can say is, you should have somebody show you by kicking you lightly with their foot and than there shin and you see by the feel which one is more damaging. Look, i started out in karate and attained a third degree balck belt in Kenpo karate and starting out with foot kicks but found in full contact shins are more effective.
@marccost1 that's what you should of said its quick to the point and effective to tell me like that's all you need to do when you get in an argument with someone just say 1 we have two different styles and 2 your right ill take that into consideration
I will explain why the shin is harder than the foot. The foot gives in with kick, where the shin does not. The shin is a much harder surface than the foot and if you ever spar a good muay thai fighter you would find out the hard way how devasating the shin can be. Take a look at my fight on here where i knock out Ken Clark with shin kick to the head. (Marc Costello vs Ken Clark (kickboxing) )

@RandomInternetTroll not really stay off a subjects that i put out on here because you have no clue what we are talkin about and no not all people who know how to fight don't always use the roundhouse most of them don't even need to lift their feet.
@rippabomb it doesn't make it stronger but focusing your energy on a smaller area of impact rather than the force spreading out on your foot will make the kick hurt more and it protects the brittle bones of the feet
@rippabomb you're spine is nowhere near the strongest bone in your body you're pretty stupid dude your femur the thigh bone for you cuz obviously your an idiot is the strongest bone
@rippabomb you can break lots of things with the foot but you can't break a baseball bat with your foot and muay thai strikers do that in almost every demonstration we can break bricks wood baseball bats and banana trees all day long a kick with the foot can't break a bat it can also lead to ankle damage due to the foot being pushed backwards all in all kick with shin=bruise kick with foot=ankle damage and possible breaking of the small bones in your foot
@rippabomb well im anything but angry i trained western kickboxing for two years and i'll admit kicks with the feet are powerful but when you're hit with the shin it gives a whole new meaning to pain it feels like your quad is being cut in half but i'm wasting my breath on someone who will debate but not see the other's point....ever i really believe you're doing this for attention but until you train muay thai and experience it first hand you'll always be ignorant to the facts of kickboxing
@PKtraceur93 that was a good explaination i respect you for that see just stay that way you know what your doing and how to do it thats all it is so do what you do best and hit me up some time ight
to do it properly and more powerfully, rotate the left leg so that the toes are pointing 180 degrees from the opponent. start the kick by rotating the left leg 90 degrees and then swing the right leg. instead of what the guy does in the vid.
@Mr155656 never overextend your legs or hand in any punch/kick it will damage your joints. for the roundhouse, it depends on the distance of your target from you. if its farther, then extend your leg , if its near, then bend your leg at the knee. but if you bend, make sure ur not using your knee at all to power the kick (like TKD). and when you connect (with a bent knee roundhouse) make sure that ur lower leg (from knee to foot) is parallel to your body, as in lead with your knee.
@alirizwan91 good luck turning the leg far enough while maintaining speed. you'd need very flexible hips and legs to do that so i cant really see how it would work.
@Wrath666Child yes speed is an issue if you are rotating on your leg to that extent, but it gives more power. The way i described is the "text book" way i learnt. the fighting version is definitly faster with less rotation.
in Muay Thai you kick with the shin...in Taekwondo and karate you kick with the foot but not in muay thai...the shin is much harder than the foot, so stop telling shit thx!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
that's wrong. you should kick with the top of your foot like the kick was originally designed hundred of years ago to do. you hit something and blow that shin out you're going to be in some real deep crap. i'd rather chance my toes than my knee.
@cobiachi5thkupp that's a whole different kick in pradal serey they kick with the foot to the head and the shin to the body i'd rather hit with my shin and in step the my entire foot
if you kick someone with your foot, it's 20times more likely to break(unless you're wearing shoes). Never kick with ya foot unless you're doing karate or something of the same nature.
@cobiachi5thkupp i once mishit very hard lowkick. instead of shin i hit with the foot and i broke my ankle... stop telling crap. kicking with foot is dangerous and supossedly would have no power
it is very, very efficient if you want to wear down your opponent, especially in an arranged street fight with some fool who wants to fight you with his friends watching. A few kicks to the arms and shoulders will make him look like Quasimodo, he'll have no guard whatsoever and his punches will not even be likely to generate the power required to KO a little kid
I studied tang soo do for almost three years, and they have two round house kicks. One is much like the one in Muay Thai, the other is a revers spinning kick, also called revers spinning round house.
i tooked the same style for the same time as well and it sucked muay thai is what you need to learn. you already know an art so you should catch on fast
heres one point on this demonstration that he needs to work on first his pivot was not good second his foot was flat on the gound you should get high on the ball of your foot for more power and contral
i am a tae kwon do fighter and in tae kwon do a round house is a diff type of kick but u gotta relise in diff martial arts and somtimes in same ones the english names may be different, but in muay thai this is a roundhouse, in tae kwon do weer i studied a roundhosue is a type of back spinning side kick.
The kicking is demonstrated well and better than the kick boxing hybrids that are often shown as thai kicks. Its the pad holder that may cause problems for instruction you should always bump a kick to leg and never never turn your knee from it. I add this comment as instruction should be kicker and pad holder.
Kicking with your foot is a lot safer because it means you can attack from a distance, and hit with greater speed. The farther away you are from you opponent, the safer you are. You should aim for long-distance blows, then jump back to avoid counterattacks.
it really depends on what part of the foot :) rounds in TKD are usually lighter in an effort to keep from injuring your opponent too badly, same reason why an axe or spinning hook kick is done with the bottom of the foot rather than a pointed heel (also for more range). In muay thai, kick boxing and other mixed martial arts, the objective is more or less to be the last one standing so you would go for the most damage possible, the shin
you can kick with the top of your foot, but dont aim to... aim for about 30 percent up the chin, this is like the end of a bat, if the opponent backs up, you will still connect with the foot. If you aim with the foot, not only does your power decrease, but if they bak up you miss, and ive kicked with my foot many times and have broken my toes from landing on their elbows or forearms.
If you wanna know how to really do it checkout this instead /watch?v=s5iTWCwlZyM

alirizwan91 1 year ago 31
@alirizwan91 hey for a roundhouse kick, do you straighten your legs and kick or follow thi guy, cause i was taught to kick with my legs straight.
Mr155656 1 year ago
@Mr155656 never overextend your legs or hand in any punch/kick it will damage your joints. for the roundhouse, it depends on the distance of your target from you. if its farther, then extend your leg , if its near, then bend your leg at the knee. but if you bend, make sure ur not using your knee at all to power the kick (like TKD). and when you connect (with a bent knee roundhouse) make sure that ur lower leg (from knee to foot) is parallel to your body, as in lead with your knee.
alirizwan91 1 year ago
@alirizwan91 thanks, so if you bend your leg you just swing it striaght like a pendulum?
Mr155656 1 year ago
@alirizwan91 That's the wrong way to do it.
Svittidiu 1 year ago
@Svittidiu enlighten me!
alirizwan91 1 year ago
@alirizwan91 You don't rotate the left foot until the kick has been launched.
Svittidiu 1 year ago
@Svittidiu try both ways and use what works for you, and do what ur Kru recommends.
alirizwan91 1 year ago
@alirizwan91 actually start the left leg by stepping at a 45 degree angle and then turning into the 180 degree :)
chikkmagneet 1 year ago
@alirizwan91 good luck turning the leg far enough while maintaining speed. you'd need very flexible hips and legs to do that so i cant really see how it would work.
Wrath666Child 1 year ago
@Wrath666Child yes speed is an issue if you are rotating on your leg to that extent, but it gives more power. The way i described is the "text book" way i learnt. the fighting version is definitly faster with less rotation.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
that's wrong. you should kick with the top of your foot like the kick was originally designed hundred of years ago to do. you hit something and blow that shin out you're going to be in some real deep crap. i'd rather chance my toes than my knee.
cobiachi5thkupp 2 years ago
Foot kicks are tae kwan do kicks.
Shin kicks are Muay Thai kicks
The first is more controlled, the second emphasizes on power. Muay Thai more effective against boxers, Kwan Do against everything else.
NightfallAgent 2 years ago
@cobiachi5thkupp that's a whole different kick in pradal serey they kick with the foot to the head and the shin to the body i'd rather hit with my shin and in step the my entire foot
TheLostDrifterVan 2 years ago
if you kick someone with your foot, it's 20times more likely to break(unless you're wearing shoes). Never kick with ya foot unless you're doing karate or something of the same nature.
Powerofthecowboy 2 years ago
@cobiachi5thkupp i once mishit very hard lowkick. instead of shin i hit with the foot and i broke my ankle... stop telling crap. kicking with foot is dangerous and supossedly would have no power
prinzeugen 2 years ago 3
did you hit with the foot ? or between your shin and your foot
In San Da it is common to kick with the anterior part of the ankle joint

Kick the arms? LOL
rolfeder 2 years ago
@rolfeder
it is very, very efficient if you want to wear down your opponent, especially in an arranged street fight with some fool who wants to fight you with his friends watching. A few kicks to the arms and shoulders will make him look like Quasimodo, he'll have no guard whatsoever and his punches will not even be likely to generate the power required to KO a little kid
Daski69 2 years ago
I studied tang soo do for almost three years, and they have two round house kicks. One is much like the one in Muay Thai, the other is a revers spinning kick, also called revers spinning round house.
snake1921 2 years ago
i tooked the same style for the same time as well and it sucked muay thai is what you need to learn. you already know an art so you should catch on fast

The kicking is demonstrated well and better than the kick boxing hybrids that are often shown as thai kicks. Its the pad holder that may cause problems for instruction you should always bump a kick to leg and never never turn your knee from it. I add this comment as instruction should be kicker and pad holder.

no it was to weak and off balance and his hips are all crooked

in taekwondo thats a 45 kick and a high is what we call a round house

Kicking with your foot is a lot safer because it means you can attack from a distance, and hit with greater speed. The farther away you are from you opponent, the safer you are. You should aim for long-distance blows, then jump back to avoid counterattacks.
CarefreeButterfly 2 years ago
not in muay thai
you can't do any damage with your foot
drumsareus 2 years ago 2
Ok, sorry for when I check that kick and smash your foot.
gongtatoot 2 years ago
it really depends on what part of the foot :) rounds in TKD are usually lighter in an effort to keep from injuring your opponent too badly, same reason why an axe or spinning hook kick is done with the bottom of the foot rather than a pointed heel (also for more range). In muay thai, kick boxing and other mixed martial arts, the objective is more or less to be the last one standing so you would go for the most damage possible, the shin

you kick your shin right above his knee in the back side
cod5sniping 2 years ago
using your shin? yeah if you want to break it..
Smallenface 2 years ago
muay thai fighters use calcium build up .. trust me it will take something crazy to break your shin
kevined92 2 years ago
lol your not gonna break it you idiot
Prophit02 2 years ago
the shin actualy is the best part to kick with, and if u kick allot with the shins they toughen up through calcium build up like the kevined say's.
this makes it near imposible to break it without a weapon
BlackMoridin 2 years ago
i have a question cant u also kick with the top of ur foot and the part were the foot connectes to ur leg?
aaronharun 2 years ago
In that case, avoid to kick in elbows, you'll regret it.
zqewkl 2 years ago
so u can do it but becarful of elbows?
aaronharun 2 years ago
Yes.
As you know your ankle is an articulation, it might be damaged by an elbow if your opponent block you with.
Bu if you strike in something "soft", like ribs, it wil be OK.
Same thing for the knees, you can get serious damages if you verticaly hit an elbow.
In the worst case, you can seriously damage your ankle with a low kick if you hit your punch bag or something hard with your toes.
It wil transfert the force directly to the ankle, wich is not good at all.
Sorry for crap english.
zqewkl 2 years ago
na ur english is good lol
thanks for the info
aaronharun 2 years ago
you can kick with the top of your foot, but dont aim to... aim for about 30 percent up the chin, this is like the end of a bat, if the opponent backs up, you will still connect with the foot. If you aim with the foot, not only does your power decrease, but if they bak up you miss, and ive kicked with my foot many times and have broken my toes from landing on their elbows or forearms.
