It might be that he put his hand through is like not part of the water with the fish, so he can control the water etc. but hard to figure out how the contraption of the glass works.

Actually the glass is Sugar Glass You Melt It And it works like glass but breaks Way too ez.. a presure into the glass and it cracks a simple knuckle with aim could ez do the trick

Clearly that tank is not what it appears to be! Not enough water pouring out thru the hole when his hand enters the glass. Slight of hand going on just before he throws the cards at the tank. Mighty damn interesting "glass". Just my observations, but no clue really on what's going on!
