  • do a tut on the solo :D btw Thanks :D:D:D

  • First class. Best rendition on the ukulele that i've seen. thanks.

  • hahahaha upchcuk!

  • your ukulele sounds so bright man :o what strings are they? they sound cool.

  • @sosuperreal Those are D'addario Tenor strings.. that kind with a wound C string. They give you sort of a sweet harp-like sound I've always thought. Also- this is probably making a big difference- I'm playing through an amp haha, you just can't see it in this shot.

  • @CurtainGuy oh thanks i gotta get some they sound amazing though.

  • @sosuperreal I'm a big fan of d'addario ukulele strings. Sometimes I use the ones with a metal-wound C string, and sometimes I use the normal clear Tenor strings. However I should say- the reason it sounds so bright here is most likely because I'm plugged into an amp haha

  • Thanks so much for this, it's HUGELY appreciated! You're amazing. Thanks again :)

  • Very cool! You got skeelz! Somehow, I have a hard time following this. I have a hard time lifting up my fingers when doing the chords. I'm un "chord" inated. Haha

  • @shinrips Hahaha.. un "chord" inated. Hahahha...I"ve always loved painfully cheesy jokes.

But ok, about the song- I think you probably first have to get *really* comfortable playing the song with just the chords with the correct rhythm/strumming. So comfortable you barely have to think about it. Then you can start adding little flourishes here and there, and then the melody.

  • madd ukulele :o

  • hey love the tutorial what kind of ukulele is that been trying to buy one cant find it help me out yeah :)

  • @randompeopleyay Super late response sorry- that's an Ovation uke. You can get an almost identical model from musiciansfriend. Just do a search on that site for "applause tenor ukulele". The only real difference is the logo on the headstock.

Also, sorry for the ridiculously late response.

  • @CurtainGuy haha yeah very late lol but thanks Ill look at the site Hopefully I get one soon well keep up the awesome work :)

  • i meant to say that the flying v ukes look cool but dont play cool lol but those ovation ukes are great just really expensive

  • instead of using a capo, would sound right to tune the uke G# C# F A#????????

  • Yep, that would work

  • beautiful uke. i want one. theres like 350 tho

  • Hey man great tutorial.

I was just wondering how to do the B flat major chord.

I'm having a bit of trouble with holding down the index finger on A and E first fret.

    Your help would be appreciated.

    Thank You.:)

  • @reubenx96 Oops.. SUPER LATE response sorry! It does take a lot of practice if it's your first stringed instrument. Try holding down just those two strings alone with your index finger, and play the strings to make sure they sound nice and clear. After that, add your middle and ring finger to the C and G strings.

  • pretty small guitar

  • fantastic playing, good explainations and OMG one of the sexiest guys ever on youtube.... come here cutie and strum me softly...

  • i mean the other solo the very hard one if u know it

  • The crazy one towards the end? Haha i'm not sure if I could do that one while playing the chords at the same time.. Or been alone =) but maybe i'll give it a shot

  • could u show the solo in more detail please?

  • the only thing im still not getting is your not saying the right cords...

  • I'm not?

  • yes you are i dont know what that guys is talking about

  • ive got a flying v uke

  • those look cool but dont play cool

  • They're good for the stage.. and slightly quiet when unplugged, which I kind of like actually.. good for practicing quietly offstage

  • i want a ukulele sooooo bad AND sweet child of mine is one of my all time fav songs to cover

  • They're ridiculously fun and easy to learn! You should totally get one! It's so easy to come up with catchy little progressions and write songs.. and if you learn what all the chords you're playing are, it's easy to transfer stuff between uke and guitar or vice versa =)

  • This is panda. º(O.O)º. Copy and paste and he will destroy Bob

  • do u think you could make a print out of this cuz i need help with chuck part

  • haha upchuck...ew

    hehe

  • your amazing & have helped me play a song that i sing at my gigs, such a nice change to sing it playing the uke rather than using backing tracks !!

    Many thanks man

    frm Mitch

  • Ha that's awesome! I play this one out all the time too and the crowd always loves it =)

  • i cant do the chucks right :(

  • I say old bean, any chance you could let me know the make and model of your uke so that I can see if it is available in England? I take it you've come across the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain? I so want to get into this instrument, thankyou for the inspiration. Great Vids.

  • Thanks! This uke is an Ovation Tenor.. but they're kind of limited/hard to find. You can get almost the exact same uke (I think the only difference is the headstock) from Applause. I forget the exact model but if you just do a quick search on ebay or google for an Applause Tenor you should find it. And yes I have heard the uke orchestra, they're great! =)

  • hey, im one of the people who asked if you could go into more detail.

i feel really rude and ignorant now, because after asking you to do this video, i actaully worked out how to do the melody. i was a beginner when i learnt to play it, and i guess i was impatient to learn things. have watched the new video, and it is really helpful, and will be a great aid to other impatient beginners like myself. thanks for posting this!!!!

  • Don't sweat it man, I would have done the same thing haha. Learning it on your own probably improved your musical ear quite a bit too!

  • Nice! Great detail... my favorite part is the up-chucking.

  • Haha I'll never be able to say that with a straight face now, thanks

  • 5th

  • really really nice~!

  • Lol. Yea, the "chuck" is actually called a "scratch".

thanks for the vid, ive been playin for almost a year now, but i never learned this song.

    so thanks

  • Oh I didn't know that haha.. I watch a lot of Aldrine Guerrero's videos and he always calls it a "chuck", so that's where I picked it up.

  • aldrine Guerrero is the man. lol

but yea, most people i kno call it a scratch.

ive learned a lot from him like the tetris song.

but anyways, keep it up. ur pretty good. i like the District Sleeps Alone cover. ive been trying to learn that one too.

  • Yeah man, I love Aldrine. That's funny, I just played the tetris song tonight at an open mic! Ha, awesome.

Thanks glad you liked the DC Sleeps Alone video! I'll try to keep it up!

  • Dang, i wouldnt hav the guts to go up and play the uke. i did once: disaster. im ok with dancing, but not playing for some reason (wierd). ahaha lol.

  • Oh man I am totally the opposite haha
