I think Meredith was feeling very overwhelmed and saw it as a means to escape. She just stopped trying. Though, I'm not a creator on the show, so I have no idea what the character was thinking.

@xMandaBearrrrx3 ABC. =) The show's mellowed out a bit since then, but I'd recommend you start at season 1. A lot's happened and now it's in it's sixth season. If you tune in now, you might be a bit lost....

I also highly recommend Castle, also on abc. It's my new favorite. =)

It was Season 3. This is the second episode in an absolutely amazing 3-part story. They were called "Walk on Water", "Drowning On Dry Land", and "Some Kind of Miracle".

Part 1. I've had a similar experience...So frightening. I was fishing with my little brother off a high rock in Western australia..But it involved a shark..An oversized 1.5m reef shark was tugging at my line..so i leaned a little too far over the edge, thinking it was a snag and was forced into the water.

I can so relate to that feeling of terror. Coming so close to death like that really changed my life, I'm hearing that it probably changed yours as well. My near death experience happened only 3wks ago and I woke from my coma just over a week ago.. so I'm in hospital right now sneakily using my laptop lol! I still can't really get over or understand why or what happened to me... Did you find your "experience" hard to move on from?

Part 2. All i remember feeling was shock and fear - which made it harder to concentrate..so, of course, a large ammount of water was caught in my lungs..Which made it impossible to scream. And the shark that had baited my line started attacking my left leg..That was the moment I lost consciousness. Next thing I know, I'm in hospital..

Part 3.I was surprised that I stil had my leg and that the shark hadn't done any serious damage. I did have deep wounds and muscle damage to the leg though..not to mention a large loss of blood. My little brother, being four, didn't know how to react to the situation..So it wasn't him who rushed to my rescue..

Part 4. He apparently walked back to the hotel complaining of boredem..When my uncle predicted something was wrong..And it was a good 20 minutes before he found me. CPR was unsuccessful at first..But after an hour and 3 shocks of the ED(external defibrillator) they found a heartbeat..

Pretty much the highlight of my life. Or biggest lowlight. It changed me...For the better I guess. But I'll never forget that feeling of terror. There's really nothing like it.

I live in NZ and was swimming in the beach when the current pulled me under, apparently I was in the water 1hr before a kid saw me floating face down, his dad then jumped in and dragged me to shore and continued CPR until the ambulance got there, but there was still no heart beat when I got to hospital. Usually after 15 minutes of no heartbeat a person is brain dead, but they didn't get my heartbeat until 3 hours after I was the ER and now im fine...i guess that was my miracle lol
