I'm a beginner at airbrush and I can't find crap on any information that I need. Please help me?

I'm thinking there is something wrong with my airbrush, but I don't know. My paint is mixed with some stuff that makes it more diluted like I'm suppose to, but when I go to paint my skin big flakes of color come spitting out instead of a very fine opaque mist. Then a great deal of the time color doesn't come out at all and spits out on and off. Any ideas or tips to help me out someone?

looks really great!! next time you should try spraying Fix+ from MAC all over the face after so you don't get cracking of the makeup... very hydrating mist!
