rick - when I became a dj in the early 80's, the record store where all the dj's went to said it was the wagner walk. however, in earlier times, it could have been mine exclusively or perhaps even another song. so - we r both right.
I am an ex disc jockey (by choice - I retired for the time being). The correct song to play for the wagner walk is "morse code of love"by the capris. if anyone wants to talk about good music - email me at tomfelock@comcast.net. By the way, when done correctly, i personally think that the wagner walk is the coolest dance of all.

love to see The Wagner Walk on You Tube, and agree SoJerz609 that this is a different version we did at Wagner's and Chez Vous in the mid 1960's at Jerry Blavat's Record Hops, but this dance needs to be seen and learned, as my friends have tried to do -like this one in the video done at The Atrium Dance Studio in Pennsauken NJ with Kenny J as host every 1st and 3rd Friday nights from 8 pm to 2 am. Hope you will enjoy this made by MaryJ Rudolph Love
I think we used to call this dance the "slow fizz," or perhaps the slow fizz was very similar. Thanks for posting! It was fun to see! Keep on keepin' on!
Thank you Drdance for displaying this beautiful dance and song. I have been trying to find all the old school line dances so that I can teach them. Nothing like that music!
Yes, I remember when this dance was introduced on "Discophonic Scene" and I couldn't wait to get to Wagner's Ballroom to learn it. The original dance was done a bit differently at :19 -- it was a double-time step going forward and then at :20 a hop back on the right foot....I can always tell the old-time Philly dancers when I see that step. Great memories!
Country Western did not invent line dancing. It all got started in PHILLY! While I am native New Yorker As a life long professional dancer I danced the wagner walk back then in Philly with my cousins./ Also remember the slow fizz, the jerry walk, the chez vous walk, discophonic walk, disco spin, all Philly line dances. Yes There Is by the Dells is fantastic so is Ain't Nothing But a House Party by Frankie&Classicals, Sweet Soul Music by Arthur Connely. I could go on and on!!!!
It has been almost 50 years since I was at Wagners. My god, It does my heart good to see this dance. My favorite song for this dance was There Is Dells. Please, I beg you, display the Chez Vous Shuffle. I never made it up to 69th Street. You have made my year. Thank you. Eddie Legs
Get on with your bad self!

@tommyjohnsr i was under the impression that Mine Exclusively was the song that was played for the Wagner Walk.

Agree that this is not the original wagner walk. I think the song's too slow for a wagner walk - but that's just me. Loved watching though.

My husband and I love to dance but am very limited where we live (Elizabethtown, PA) near Hershey. I just love all those dances. You guys are awesome.
P.S. Years ago, my husband is proud to say he danced on bandstand, lol

This is a 'modified' version. The original dance done at Wagner's was a little different.
