Thanks. Some of these reviews cannot see the whole picture but special effects of incredible magnitude, great story and content value coupled with a rookie director (I think this was his debut, not sure) and the work of the incredible Peter Jackson has be torn between a 9.5/10 and a 10/10.

The reason behind the hate of this movie was the political side of it. A government cloaking scientific research on a race of aliens who came down to live in these slums in complete poverty, like what really happened in Johannesburg in the 1960's. Around the same time in America she too her fair share of uprisings from frustrated minorities. Even people who WERE a minority outnumber them. @dmx666uk Neil Blomkamp (the director) spoke about how he drew ideas from District 13 (a real district) during the apartheid era and how they were treated in such a cruel fashion. I don't know about any sueing but Neil didn't design the aliens around Black South Africans, but merely used the apartheid era as a contrast and reference when designing the alien slum conditions. He didn't do it because he's a massive racist, he did it so he could create a massively brilliant movie :)

@mynameisdarthtater It was a nice change seeing the Aliens being the more empathetic species, most films these days have the aliens as evil and powerful beings.

District 9 in a very clever way throws this unknown, vulnerable species into a place where they are treated as minorities by people who in the past have been treated as minorities and along with the NMU soldiers the films shows us our race as being bullies, and the clever thing about that is you never want to see the bully win.

its not a happy ending stupid hollywood shit movie. the film is simply amazing. after the alien went out in the space ship the lead character turned in to a prawn and once send a flower to his wife.his wife don't believe the flower was sent by her own husband and planning to throw it out. her husband was shown at the end making flowers out of rubbish and waiting for the promise his alien friend had told him. three years. watch on blue ray . its worth it.

Personally I think Avatar sucked. The special effects were nice but the story was lacking and dragged on too long. They didn't have to tell you every little detail about their culture some could have been left to the imagination.

I actually thought the movie was going to end when their tree fell down and I actually got up. I think that Avatar was very over hyped and didn't live up to that hype.
