the reason is because polaris made the system then patented it... so the other companies can't copy em.. and now they're stuck with trying to make stuff like the rhino locking diff (the five step process) and the teryx pull lever, i'll give credit because the systems aren't that bad from what i've seen but they can't compare to the AWD system on a polaris
@DantheVan21 I really dont think the polaris system is better, its just another alternative. IMO i would much rather have the control over the machine of choosing when to lock and when not to, but this is just my opinion.
may also want to look at the rzr vs rhino tu-o-war the rzr is stock they just put on some lights and side panels that make it look cool and low to the ground that hit stuff and i wouldn't do but w.e you should take a look at it hope this helps.
anooseholay to be honest with you i have both a rhino and a rzr and i tested both of them in like the mud top speed and handling and i really think you should get the rzr it has 100more cc and has a much lower center of gravity good for all riding also the only UTV that can ride on atv trails cause it is the only one that will fit through the gate, i also believe that they are made with tons of quality the rzr won in all of my tests go to a dealer and let them prove to you that the rzr is better
PO1401, Why would you want a quad with three wheel drive? i mean i don't understand why all the quad makes just don't have button that instantly locks into a REAL locked differential. To me three wheel drive is a waste of time. and some quad makes only offer you a limited slip (honda) your paying for 4 wheel drive and get three.
Nothing against the RZR, but I will stick with my Rhino, I don't need to go fast anyway. Incidentally, I have a 700 Polaris Sportsman that has been a very good machine though I don't like the AWD, prefer regular 4WD.
I was thinking about selling the Rhino for an RZR but with Polaris' lack of quality, the stupid plastic hanging low where rocks can smash it, and the much hated on demand 4-wheel drive feature, I don't think so. Polaris: let me decide when I want it in 4-wheel drive and whether I want it locked in or not please???
but they have good customer support if something does go wrong..my uncle got one of the first ones before it was out on production, so they werent perfect but he got a bran new one when they came into production for 11 dollars
I agree with tpcrb; no comparison. Rhinos have evolved into fun, RZR's are fast and furious. I have spent 20 years in the desert and have not got anything for being fast or furious, but I got a lot of fun pictures!
Who cares about the street? It's like "ohhh.. it's faster, so I keep it in the driveway!" Take it to the desert and put four people in it and have some fun! Ohh Ya, you would need two RZRs for that. Have we lost the focus of this sport?
3 Rzr's started the BITD Parker 250 and they finished 1-2-3. Best Rhino was 15 minutes behind. Rzr IS tough and fast...stock or modded. Wanna haul hay? Buy a Rhino. Wanna haul azz? Get a Rzr!!
lol ohhh.. i was talking about getting a can am outlander... but now he should get a kawasaki brute force! fuckin best atv out right now i think :)... im not a big fan of side by sides though.. op here they cant fit in some of the places we go threw without beating the hell out of them
I was gonna buy an outlander 800 max until I visited the dealership. They had both polaris and can-am. As a father of 2 younger children, the seats and seatbelts on the RZR got me from a safety standpoint. The testdrive convinced me. The RZR is a kickazz experience. Everyone that goes for a ride, LOVES it.
haha yeah its safe but not reliable atleast my sportsmans arnt... we put 1,500 into one and were getting rid of it and our brand new one went threw a starter already...my can am has only had three spark plugs replaced.. damn winter in maine
Rhinos aren't built for mudding, and niether is a RZR. Rhinos are built for hauling things, wood, rocks, camping crap etc. RZRs are too, but mor of a sport thing, so obviously it would beat the Rhino.
the rhinos will only do 39mph stock.

We bought the rzr and will buy the new Kawai Teryx as soon as it's available.
The rzr is entirely different.
Conpairing it to Rhinos is apples and oranges.
It's all good, they're all good.
It's what fits your tastes.
Glad to have choices.
Arguing taste and choice is non-sense.
