  • sounds great!

  • Hahaha, it nearly sounds a bit like a jcm 800 now,

  • could you make a wiring diagram?

  • That thing sounds really fucking good

  • Just got a GA5 head home, plugged in an RRT-1 pedal and old Boss RV2 and cranked it. Got the fabled EVH brown sound out of the thing when driving through my two 1x12 Celestion cabs. Awesome little amps.....Use an early 2204 Marshall head/ Haze 15 as well and it compares well for home use.

  • It just needs more Drive or Gain or whatever :)

  • are you willing to sell your 2204?? i look for one since ... a long time ago !! cant find'em back there in France ...

  • oh an, where did you place the diodes?

  • I have a bridge mix of se and ge diodes in place between the two gain stages. I have a switch that removes the voltage divider when the diodes are in the circuit so the volume desn't drop too much.

  • sounds good

    LEDs ?

  • The tone is great I love it :)

  • can you get more watts when your`re put another or a second tube in the output stage?

because 5 watts are not enough for the stage ;)

  • You could add another EL84 in parallel single end for 10 Watts or go for push pull Class AB for 15 Watts but you'd need a new output transformer and probably a new power transformer as well. There's not a huge amount of room in the chassis for this.

  • buy a bigger amp. read what he wrote, another tube + transformers. and even then your speaker and even your wiring are under spec so just buy an amp.

  • Hey Paolo,

Not bad at all! Hard to believe it's from the amp alone, without pedals...so, great job. I receive a GA5H this week and play hard rock so I would need a pedal but this would be much better I guess. How is this mod done....is it on the internet or did you invent it yourself.

  • It's my version of a diode clipping circuit. Do a google search, instructables have a good article explaining the circuit. Be sure to experiment until you find a sound you like!!
