@MacMaraScott Regarding the mouth piece he could have a "bruxism" condition, (clenching of the jaws / grinding teeth). I also have bruxism and have different mouth guards, one for sleep , one for exercise activities.

@MacMaraScott I agree it looks silly. The mouthguard thing is because he clinches his teeth when he works out (which is a pretty bad habit). I do that sometimes and am trying to stop doing it all together. As for the pads and what not; if that's what he feels comfortable wearing, than whatever.
@MacMaraScott i agree with you about the pads but when your lifting that much weight your obviously clinching your teeth so hard, and you don't want your teeth to be fucked after.
He is wearing a mouth guard because he is clenching his jaw. To make a long story short a study showed that clenching your jaw increases muscle activation by a significant percent making you lift more. Google it or try it out yourself. I didn't notice a difference but I see more and more people in the gym doing it.

do you have any problems with outer elbows or front parts of shoulders mate? I specialised in this movement for few years and although i built an amazing amount of muscle mass, my outer elbows and anterior delt became a problem afer about 2 years of specialising on this movement? Good luck :)

I love weighted dips. Ive worked up to doing 90lbs ten reps easily, 135lbs going for about six reps right now, and doing 180 once. This exercise is awesome!
This is the best exercise in world for an all round chest, back and shoulder thickness development. I specialised in this movement for 2 years and gained a massive amount of muscle mass. Sadly for me my life went downhill with a medical complaint and the associated medication caused me to suffer inflexibility which destroyed my training and i had to watch 5 stone a muscle mass disappear before my eyes m8! I am still devasted even now 5 years on but eh thats life i guess. Keep pumping mate:)

I love weighted dips. Such a better exercise than bench in my opinion. I used to powerlift so I was benching all the time but now that I've shifted my focus to dips rather than bench I'm a lot bigger.

How much does he weigh? Can he dip that amount added? If not then I'm far stronger than him!! Workout the % of weight added to dips to his own bodyweight then post again !!! I managed 1RM at 82 Kgs (180lbs) and I weighed in at 78Kgs (172lbs) at time - it's simple maths (oh and for the record i dipped 356lbs at a weight of only 172lbs!!)
At the same % of Bodyweight I can out rep him massively with same %!!!!

I weigh only 170lbs and I can do a single rep of weighted dips with 170lbs added!! bodyweight plus bodyweight - now that's adding weight - his set here is the equivalent of my adding only 50kgs which i do 4 sets of 6-8 nowadays - so not that impressive - look at the size of him in this video and then look at size of me - who is actually stronger?? i know the answer

@Hemouth what utter rubbish - if you train with your own bodyweight you will be able to move your own bodyweight. If you have power and strength you continue that up with your weight gains that is what power and strength is.

@MacMaraScott I agree it looks silly. The mouthguard thing is because he clinches his teeth when he works out (which is a pretty bad habit). I do that sometimes and am trying to stop doing it all together. As for the pads and what not; if that's what he feels comfortable wearing, than whatever.

He is wearing a mouth guard because he is clenching his jaw. To make a long story short a study showed that clenching your jaw increases muscle activation by a significant percent making you lift more. Google it or try it out yourself. I didn't notice a difference but I see more and more people in the gym doing it.

This is definitely not as hard as it looks. I'm only 185 pounds myself and can do three plates, for 7 reps. This dude is gigantic, so it's not all that. Guy is crazy strong still though....At least he focuses on "real" strength instead of bench or curls.

I love weighted dips. Ive worked up to doing 90lbs ten reps easily, 135lbs going for about six reps right now, and doing 180 once. This exercise is awesome!

This is the best exercise in world for an all round chest, back and shoulder thickness development. I specialised in this movement for 2 years and gained a massive amount of muscle mass. Sadly for me my life went downhill with a medical complaint and the associated medication caused me to suffer inflexibility which destroyed my training and i had to watch 5 stone a muscle mass disappear before my eyes m8! I am still devasted even now 5 years on but eh thats life i guess. Keep pumping mate:)

I love weighted dips. Such a better exercise than bench in my opinion. I used to powerlift so I was benching all the time but now that I've shifted my focus to dips rather than bench I'm a lot bigger.
