hmmm - 'Mother Earth' will probably do just fine without us - 'saving the planet' is more truthfully a metaphor for people to deal with thier guilt whilst using the planet as a way to deflect their self responsibility - ie in truth they they're more concerned saving themselves
Obvioulsy that's not true for everyone...
