  • Not a loco you would wanna start up inside.

  • what a sound!!! lovely jubilee haha :)

  • I am new to this obsession - can you tell me why these engines hunt when cold? It sounds great, but just curious. Any more info on the new post of the better start up? Id love to see it!

  • @Aerozine50 Oooooo,Casy R,now there's an idea,takes me back to my Yamaha FS1E back in the day,you cant beat a bit of clag,lol

  • Excellent stuff. Can't beat a Tractor.

  • Explosion that train!!!

  • i grew up with those locos in lanarkshire

  • Get a bigger hammer!

  • The timing was indeed retarded on "A" bank, having checked it I found it to be out by exactly 1 tooth !!!!!!!!,she has now been re-timed and the cam chain re-tensioned,will post another video of her new and improved startup once ive put the water pump back on after overhauling the mechanical seal,

  • When I was doing my Diesel theory at college, we were always told that white smoke was a sign of injection pump problems (automotive diesels). But as the other bank is okay, I assume that there is another problem here. Nice sound though guys - thanks for posting.

  • lol 7:10 kool walking through hellfiree that smell gd?

  • running a tad rich?? lol

  • @mrfirewolf Indeed she is,I think the injection timing is a little retarded on A bank,B bank is running spot on as you can see,as after a few minutes its running quite clean, the problem with these engines is that they have a cam chain that after a period due to its shear lengh can stretch and alter the timing, always seeming to effect A bank probably due to engine direction rotation

  • @31144

    weyyyhheyyyyy

good enth there. just like me lol

    gd video mate.

  • no smoke no poke!

  • at 1:00 lol

"Hold on a min while I go over and stick my face in the exhaust".

  • I am an EE clag addict, "SNIFF YA FUMES"

  • @31144

    Haha! ;P

  • @adfgfds

    ye cerrrbang lol

    good stuff.

  • Class , plenty clag , u cant beat it!

  • Keep your comments to yo self, dont kill the mood !!! lol

  • ok this is a great Locomotive but does everyone like it because of the smoke or ''Clagging''

  • is all the smoke good for the enviorment????????

  • Who gives a monkeys if it is or not, there are far worse things pumping far more dangerous stuff into the air than our once great BRITISH built loco's !!!!!,by the way its enviroment

  • The EPA doesn't take American locomotives away. The hot, carbon filled air coming out of all you enviro-wackos faces does more harm to the environment than this loco ever will.

  • really --yes they will---the reason the ES44AC--AND DC were created because the EPA said that the dash9 and AC4000 -6600 Made to much exhaust smoke---this Train here makes 28times the smoke the dash9-C44-9CW MAKES

  • I think a power station running on coal emits far worse than this one train, and in far greater quantities too.

  • Still all this smoke amoke aint helping freshin up the air----what woul happen if you put you head next to the exhaust pipe and breath it in-----??????????

  • This was a stone cold engine start, the smoke would certainly clear up once the engine reaches it's operating temperature. And i wouldn't have my head anywhere near the exhaust system on this train,it exit's on the roof,i have a tendancy to sit inside train,s,not on top of them.

  • lol, oh ok

  • remember, CO2 is what plants need to live. this unit just made the plants next to it VERY happy. its more a reverse thing. the plants need the CO2 we breath out and our machines create. and we and our machines need the oxygen they produce. simple. on the other hand the ES44AC's/DC's here in the US are also under a far bit of teething problems because they use such a small engine to make so much power. this Class 37 is a REAL engine

  • @jimmyp42002 THATS BECUSE AMERICA DONT WANT SO MUCH SMOKE HERE

  • I am in america. I can walk to the tracks of a historic railroad from my current location and watch EMD geeps smoke the sky dragging cement, gravel, and tourist trains around. lots of green next to the tracks. I saw a so called "green-goat" burn up and die trying to keep up with the geeps. the Class 37 and the GP7/9's are true engines. unlike the green goats and EPA tier II units. Britan has it well off, brand new steam engines, tons of older diesils, while the EPA here shuts them down all over.

  • Yes, the plants love it. They need the CO2 for photosynthesis. Look at your science books for further info.

  • My new fave start video. Great angle. Good work sir ******

  • Thank you Sir

  • It seems that the loco is difficult to start...

  • Eh !!!!,its fires virtually on the first full revolution of the engine, wouldn't say that was a "difficult to start" engine dude

  • Sorry about that...as I don't know much about these locos. By the way, what is a "clag"?

  • Its not "A clag" its just clag and its a generic term for the heavy smoke that all decent British loco's used to emit on start up or under load

  • Actually,if you look where iam stood I am slightly this side of the exhaust stack, thus avoiding any near singe experiance,Iam not as daft as I look, lol

  • All i can say is good job there wasnt a 'fireworks display'! Could of been messy!

  • How do you think I got me tan,lol

  • That'd have been worth £250 on "You've been framed" if it'd have blown out a big ball of flames (cold Tractor style) when you were looking down the stack. :-D
