the drummer is from PAUL MACA of BEATLES fame and its in D but Eric tuned down to d so he plays in E band in D like Hendrix original, wish this drummer was on CROSSROADS vids awsome ,Mitch,s drums fantastic on LADYLAND
Thanks for posting this. I just heard the album version the other night and almost died. The Hendrix/Winwood version off ELL is one of my all time favorite pieces of music.
I have a t-shirt Clapton is God , and the people look and dont understand what this means because im my country the people dont know the God British Patrick Clapton.
If you wanna a channel with the best videos of clapton and others bands click on my picture you will acess my channel , and you can see they videos.
I am a fan of Clapton sinds the 60 ,but heard this song the first time at the concert at the Gelredome on 29-05-2010 ,And i cant get enough of the song. Now i am glad theres U-tube and find a lot more of his music .
@jonbdan - great drummer. he plays drums for Paul McCartney. Not sure if he still does but he did for a long time. You can see him on the last couple of dvd's Macca did.
I love this but think the version at madison Sq gardens is better, I also saw them play at birmingham this year and it was quite possibly the best thing i've ever heard!!!
enjoyable. they seem to enjoy playing it. clapton demonstrates his limitations here not a very intense player, more stylized and melodic. this solo sounds alot like many of his others.
It's actually called "Voodoo Child (Slight Return)." With a "d." And no, this isn't the same song. "(Slight Return)" is much shorter and is pretty distinctive because Hendrix used the wah-wah pedal. You can find videos of Stevie Ray Vaughan playing it on this site.
Amazing Clapton was god winwood was king, first time I've been to the lg was really impressed by the venue. To be fair though it couldve been a bedsit in the rougher part of rough claptons sound wouldve made it the ritz.
does clapton play this song with his strings tuned a full step down, because i know that he plays it in the key of D but hes plaing it as if it were in the key of E position?
excellent. it's great to see this song in a distinctive clapton sound. much "cleaner" than the original (and i don't mean that in a negative way to either jimi or clapton)
is this half step down or full step or what? im confused!?!
Kommando786 8 months ago
@Kommando786 full step. he i playing in the E position, but the key is D minor.

Mesmerizing performance!
I like this as much as the original on Hendrix's "Electric Ladyland". Very bluesy.

This is Voodoo Chile - great version by E.C.
also check out his version of Little Wing
cgabler91191 1 year ago
just shows you so far ahead of his time Jimi was. Clapton is a schooled blues player. Jimi was from another universe.

limitations... not intense player...
bullshit!
you got no music sensibility, taste and knowledge
watch this and you'll realize that clapton is trully a "intense" player
