It's amazing how many urban and suburban youth do not equate the earth with food. One blessing from the current economic mess is a renewed interest on local agriculture, and community gardens. Learning how to use our discards to replenish our abundance is a powerful POWERFUL empowerment tool on soooooo many levels. Great video! Love the music too.
You'd be surprised at how quickly it breaks down and settles. It is much like a compost pile, except you are building it with the intention of planting it right away. The one in the vid will be planted with sunflowers and popcorn in a few days. It's based around the idea of "sheet mulching" or no-dig gardening. That is why it's ideal for turf lawn, blacktop, or other hard surfaces that would take a long time to build up the productivity.
um...how long b4 you can plant seedlings??

OK, so what's it gonna look like when broken down?
It's much like my compost pile out back.
I get the need for great soil using garbage. I don't understand what the outcome is you're trying to acheive?
VERY WELL PUT TOGETHER video, by the way.
