I heard Kiri Te Kanawa's version first. In comparison, I feel that Hiroko Kouda's voice is softer but richer, with more emotion inside. Of course, this is just my personal opinion. But I really am moved by her voice in this performance.

Not an easy piece for any singer but Hiroko does it very nicely. Lovely vibrato and a great display of vocal gymnastics done with passion and on key.
