He did not convert into "Nation of Islam", and there is no basic fact on which u can confirm your claim! You are just spreading propaganda about what u heard. Regardless of whether or he converted to nation of Islam, he was NEVER a practicing Muslim. If he was, he would have given up singing and stopped instruments being played. In Hadith, it only mentions that the Duff and natural sounds can be used, as well as praising Allah through singing.
1 hadith from the Bukhari Shareef, the most authentic Book of Hadith, confirms unlawfulness of music and singing :
`There will be people of my Ummah who will seek to make lawful; fornication, wine-drinking and the use of ma`aazif ( musical instruments ).
Another place in Hadith mentions Daff is allowed.
You should read the Hadith, properly.
