So explain to me why youtube. partners with google aka google+ wants to eliminate social networking through youtube. If this is to protest sopa and bla bla bla bla internet, you have a better chance of writing your representatives. there will always be a youtube no matter what it is called.

We all get reduced to being just a list of videos with the new layout. I'll be boycotting with the rest, but I also opened an account at zippcast. And today i just closed my Facebook account. Screw Google. I'm fed up with this crap.

@YouNewb100 understood. I'm not under any illusions that top people will see it. However, since youtube only monetizes 15% of vids, the real target is getting video creators that are part of the earning/ad programs to participate - to affect the ad revenues. Incredibly lofty goal. But so far, I've not found any alternative sites for protesters to move to with reasonable and free alternatives. So staying here, protesting & providing input is the best choice IMHO.

There are lots of different reasons for a single day boycott - 1) its manageable (content creators have a schedule & it lets them stick to it mostly) 2) it gets noticed without losing viewers (not views, viewers) 3) its a show of solidarity (worldwide, its understood).

This protest / "boycott" just seems a little laughable and a bit self destructive to me.

I'm just an average user so i don't have the answers myself, but somebody out there must be able to think outside the box enough to grab the attention of the people at the top.

I don't like the new changes of YouTube, and also think they are UGLY and hard to find things on, but I don't understand this video's claim that you will lose subscribers or not get new ones. Whats the deal with having subscribers? is it an ego thing to see how many people acknowledge your channel by subscribing? If it is an Ego thing, what does it say about people who need such validation???? Lack of self esteem? I don't care if I get subscribers or not. I'm here to watch and share.

Thanks for posting the youtube feedback address. I think everyone who is unhappy with the new look, should take a moment to write to YouTube. If enough of us take the time, we'll be heard, but if you say nothing, they will assume you are happy with their changes. If you complain, they will perhaps think about the user's before they make changes next time.

We have to schedule another boycott day, and another after that one and so on, one day isn't enough, I don't know how Dec16th went, I hope we made a difference!!!

@Tatstube77 every participant helps make a difference. But, we must do more than boycott. Real boycotts take time to plan and execute. I fear we dont have enough time to fully implement and inform people before google finalizes its decisions. 5 billion views a day, 600 million accounts, 1 million new accounts each day. We need more boycott videos - about 1 million - to affect youtube. They need to point to one location. And each uploader needs to be a subscriber of that location.
