This isn't their first fight but it is the first really intense one. I can't remember one of them walking out crying from a fight. I love how Cory realizes right when she leaves how awful what he said to her was. He's a good husband for that, especially how he sits and thinks about how he can make it better instead of how he is "right" in the situation.

Alright, Cory gave Topanga fair warnings. And by the middle of the fight, Topanga KNEW what was bugging Cory. But instead of backing down, she kept getting more pissed and making the matters even worse. She knew that by saying he couldn't sell a magazine and how he couldn't play solitaire that it would hurt him.

And then, they ran into each other at a party and discovered they were both pretending to be someone they weren't. They temporarily broke up afterwards.

This has been Cory's problem throughout college and high school. If he's doing something and he doesn't enjoy it, he gives up or chickens out. The first time he officially broke up with Topanga was because he thought she was keeping him from wanting to do guy things with his friends. He accused her of controlling him and wanted to be more independent at the time. When his 8th grade girlfriend was shocked that he wanted to end their relationship, he made up an excuse to save his own skin.

I can see why people are blaming Topanga for the fight, and it was at least partially her fault. Cory gave her plenty of signals not to talk about it, and she still persisted. But Cory's not blameless here either, he should realize that Topanga's just excited about her job and isn't intentionally trying to shove it in his face.

Well Topanga was right if she had just left Cory alone then he would have calmed down and forgotten about it, until later on when the issue would come up again whether it be a few days or a few years . By having it out now Topanga can become aware that what she has been doing does hurt his feelings and make an effort to avoid it in the future. Problems don't get solved by ignoring them and walking away.
