I personally don't think it's a problem for homosexuals to operate in the church for the simple fact that we have murderers, adulterers, pedophiles, and everything else operating in the church. Who are we to judge? In reality it's easy to shun an open homosexual, but there are too many people hiding baggage that is far worse that someone's sexual preference.
