The way Denise handled all of this and giving back to the kids is incredibly inspirational. If more parents would do this without such horror happening we may have better schools.

Yep, paying taxes is so important these days that criminals who just happened to rape or brutally kill someone will get less time in jail based on how reliably they paid their taxes. So let's say someone raped and killed a little seven year-old girl but faithfully paid their taxes their whole live - they'll get a light jail term. Three years and they'll be let out after three months. This is Germany, where the government cares more about money than justice. *Sarcasm*
He was saying that not paying taxes seems to be a higher offense in Germany. Sort of like in the US, people are required to serve more time for marijuana possession than if they raped someone.
