  • I must admit, this is one idea I never thought of. Sounds great.

  • why not use and engine thats a little less rare?

  • @charzkuentzle there were 1.8 million corvairs made, they're not exactly cosidered rare.

  • very, very , very nice.

why not drive a corvair with it.. for super MPG?

  • 2 cylinder opposed?

  • Well....It works and is safe on the ground.

Just can't expect much in a climb or headwind I expect. Why not use the complete Corvair??

  • The 1/3 corvair is intended for very light aircraft. You wouldn't want to use a complete corvair for such an aircraft for the same reason you don't want to put an O200 on an ultralight. It's just too darned heavy. It would never work.

  • Bore 3.437 inches (87.3 mm)

    Stroke 2.94 inches (74.7mm)

    Displacement 54.6 cubic inches (894cc)

    Width 27.5 inches

Weight 80 lbs (includes intake and magneto)

    Horsepower 35 @ 3,500 rpm (estimated

  • I've been interested in this engine, as I built a similar one and wanted to compare notes with flycorvair, but he has not responded. Do you know how I can reach him? Thanks for any info.

  • very, very nice.. what does it weigh? how much hp.. sounds great.

  • click on your name in the box at the top right corner. My comment is there at the bottom of the page. Mackbridge

  • Very interesting. What's the weight and estimated or measured HP? I'd guess it'd be a heavy equivalent to a Rotax 447 maybe?
