I don't know about the rest of you, but I like this theme. True its not as good as the others, but considering what goldsmith was going through at the time, it was a pretty good effort.
I loved this movie. i dont care what people say. It actually had a story and characters we cared about. Plus i mean, it had Romulans! but alas with the new story..i dont like what happens to the Romulans only a few years later.... :(
Mind you the third data became Data at the end (don't tell me I'm wrong, I read the comics) The second Picard was awesome, and there were ALOT of Romulans. The film was the second best in the series, second ONLY to Star Trek Generations. Either way, this was THE best song in the Star Trek series.
Yeah, data is killed, but not really. who didn't see that one coming?? the second picard was NOT awesome. have you even watched this film? there weren't a lot of romulans. there were a lot of second rate extras dressed up as romulans like it was a convention. but you seem to think Generations was the best in the series so why am i even talking to you? as for 'best song' .... omg
I OWN this film. I watch it like 5 times a day. Have you noticed that the romulans are constantly arguing with shin zon and they erventually rebel against him? Generations was awesome because it was a kirk/picard team up. The bast song, at about 1:10... that's why its the best.
@mogh07 Generations was the worst. They killed Kirk (a big no-no), killed the most well known enterprise (pretty debatable) with a few well placed torpedoes (complete and total BS, that ship was supposed to be a freaking battleship, and like 3 torpedoes fucked it over) and screwed up guinan's continuity, because she was on earth BEFORE her people were destroyed by the borg (Ep. arrow of time), so how could she be on a cargo ship heading to earth hundreds of years AFTER that episode takes place?
Don't forget, that Enterprise-D felt victim of age-old ST Universe trick. Klingons knew shield configuration parameters, due to tapping to Geordi's visor. Though sad and unfavourable resolution (I loved D), it's reasonable.
Anyway, I think that the really worst ST with TNG cast was Insurrection...rehash of one of the episodes, and poor one at that.
@sirfighterace If you notice, the Klingons kept hitting the engine ports and nacelles, which I guess would screw over the power systems. And in the show, a coolant leak lead to the destruction of the D in one of the alternate timeline eps, so there was some nice continuity. It was sad to see the D go like that though.
Perhaps Guinan went to Earth on holiday in Time's Arrow, then left back to her homeworld in time for the Borg attack? It keeps her continuity.
This star trek open 6 days before the two towers and got rolled over. I think this is the second best of the next generation movies. First Contact being the best.
you've got to be kidding. It was terrible. They had a plotline fit for an episode or two at best, and the entire last third of the movie was a battle. That's not what star trek is about.
Generations is third considering Kirk's death, Insurrection is dead last considering the movie turn into a western with lasers, and two old men fighting on a satellite, Nemesis is second best because it has weight, an very good theme throughout, and a lot of good and memorable moments, First Contact is by far the best of TNG movies considering the route they took with the Borg and time travel was phenomenal.
I don't like Nemesis because the Crew of the Enterprise stepped into that obvious trap in the Bassen Rift and Data died (But of course there's still B-4 with his memory). Not to mention when the viceroy fell into that bottomless pit on the lowest deck of the ship.
Yeah that always bugged me in the film plus when data says there are intuders on deck 29 my 1st thought was there is no deck 29 there was only 24 decks in first contact, well 26 if you believe the secruity officer later in the film, or is this ship always expanding, have starfleet finally develpoed a ship from expanding foam?
idk what you are rambling about in your info section but I thought this movies was one of the best STNG movies ever. I loved the clone dude. it was Awesome
I know...perhaps they can use "clone dude" to make a prequal to TNG the series back when picard finally got off starfleet and first served on the U.S.S Stargazer....sense they like to prequal everything else now like the new Trek 11 film i'd say WHY NOT?
I did like the score to be honest. However I clearly believe it to be the weakest of the Goldsmith's scores for Star Trek. You need to listen to the complete score if you really want to appreciate the work.

Data dying... They so should have fixed that. But even so it was fantastic.

@jamesschader The movie wasnt bad at all, But them killing off data really pissed me off. It moved the movie from an A- to a B- to me.

I like Picards words in the end. They where going to EXPLORE. Im so tired of the political BS that ST has been putting us through.

Oh no no.... this political bullshit, you know, was very important (see Drumhead, Measure of Man).

From 0:58 til 1:38, this says a lot about the Romulans as much as the Klingon Theme from The Motion Picture says a lot about Klingons.

Goldsmith scored half of the Star Trek movies, and most of them were the least popular.

ok Nemesis is a lot better than ppl say it is. its story is great. the acting by Picards clone was not that great but the story was still good.

nah, it didn't have a story at all. it had an idea and it was a very weak one

no, I think the idea they had was a good one. what was weak was the execution of that idea.
