  • Hey... how about us people who were born all thumbs?? When can I buy one of these great INVENTIONS at Wally World?? LOL maxwell

  • hey lol we want to know how did u made it

  • hey lol we want to know how did u created this

  • please show how it works connected to tv

  • It's look like the back part of a refrigerator..

  • Comment removed

  • I would love to make one myself but I don't understand how would I power it? My set top box came with a little aeiral, that is powered by the set top box (you can switch the powering on and off in the menu). I wonder if my digital reciever could keep up with this much of wire. I'd love to know before I decide to construct one, which is not possible so this is really hard call to make.

  • Is copper wire required?

  • i hear a telegraph about 32-33 seconds in? hehe. just kiddin. interesting to see a different design once in a while

  • Ya! you would definitely need the signal booster because without it this design get only half decent reception!

  • Does this antenna and all other antenna's you made work for radios too (without the transformer ofcourse) ?

what is the name of the song ? :D

  • @kaas94

    Led Zeppelin- The inmigrant song

  • you didn't show it working. no proof of how many signals it captured, how it's connected to tv, nothing. just a model. sorry, can't accept it. thumbs down. maybe next time.

  • Thanks so much!

  • vale usar regla para marcar la linea de tornillos no?? jejeje lo voy a probar a ver si funca...

  • you asssssss hole salakuta

  • Where do i get that UHF VHF? i live in the united states.

  • @Ro0m309 A Shack with many Radios.

  • @Cambaudio RADIO SHACK! LOL

  • is it true that this antenna is a high gain one, and that it can only get high frequency channels?

    does it work in Australia?

  • @Drift88king antennas are something that is better done by trying this and that, great science is often defeated by simple experimentation - the signal does not care what country you are in, the converter box might...

  • omg its too big lol

  • How about if you insulate the wire using short pieces of 1/4" plastic tubing around the screws?

Then use double-nutted hanger bolts to connect the ends to the balun. (google "Hanger Bolts" - they lag into the wood, then have machine threads for the nuts... double-nutting aids driving them into the wood, too)

I mean, unless the wood is approaching dry rot it still changes the impedance of the loop, right? (yes, I realize you're not worried about transmitting, so SWR's not critical.)

  • A-a-aaaaaaa-AH!

  • that's not very fine wire! :P

Anyways what freq is if for ?

  • the spar I am Italian the antenna works for the digital terrestrial signal?, is there a type of spar it specifies for the terrestrial digital signal that I can build?

  • Is that 14 gauge and did you try it insulated?

  • interesting layout...does it pull in many local HD channels?

  • So now you'd better stop...and rebuild all antenna's,

Hi def TV can win the day

    Despite signal losing.

  • Immigrant Song

  • i modifyed the antenna but it still works the same

  • As cool as this is..there is no such thing as an hdtv antenna or signal...sorry...

  • there used to be when the video was made. the cable companies used send hd content over air uncompressed

  • What are you talking about ONTV or something? Hahaha...

  • you need a box or run it through your computer, HD signals are broadcast but they are in the thousands (channel number)

today I still get 10 HD channels in Toronto Ontario Canada

  • Right but this new conversion they did is NOT an HD signal. It is a Digital Signal that carrys HD.

  • Why are folks giving me negative? What I say is true. The current conversion is NOT an HDTV signal.

  • Not very informative. At least Immigrant Song is good.

  • normally i would say something like that but i mean, think of it this way. if you can avoid spending money by using your hands, and building something from scratch that works comparably if not better than something in stores, well then that's a pretty cool thing, no?

    -respect

  • why buy when you can DIY.

  • i tried making your antenna and i got no results. is there a way to make a booster? instead of buying one? ever since i got that box i have been wanting to use it as a Frisbee my signal comes in clear then it freezes up or says weak signal. i have tried rabbit ears several different kinds and get the same results. i dont know if i live in a dead zone or what. i got my box from radioshack. or as i call it a reason to smash (Frisbee the box) help

  • go out and buy yourself a maximum reception aerial youll be laughin in no time

  • i cant get higher than 1-10 with this how do you get better VHF signal?

  • How well does it work, mr. invetor?

  • well how dosent it work?,

the wire is used as what an antenna does, hooking it up to a digital device would let you see the HD but it also pick up analog signals. you gotta flip thrugh the channels to the 1000's to find HD.

  • I'm about to head out to the dollar store to go pick up a transformer to try this.

Wish me luck, i'll comment back with my results

  • Dear Saskuachman,

I live as the crow flies 70 miles NE of Atlanta near the end of the Appalachian Trail and about 70 miles SE of Chattanooga. House is 1750 feet elevation and is surrounded by a low mountain range of about 3000 feet. Reception is poor and with the new box and the best HD antenna Wal-mart sells I get 4 channels 14.1, 14.2, 14.3, 14.4. Should I research and buy the best antenna available? Any thoughts on my matter would be appreciated! Sign me,

    Old man wanting free tv.

  • if your wanting to buy one, do extensive research ( how long it will last ) etc.

ask some one who owns it

    what the range is ruffly,

PS: im saskuachman :P lol i got two accounts,

  • i install dishnet all over G.A i know that area sucks for signal u might have to build a monster antenna lol nothing walmart sells or radioshack sells can help u

  • yay for FTA, I pirate dish. so suck my dick..

  • Too bad it dont work for locals

  • If you make the traditional style that you see on top of people's roofs that look like arms sticking out, you won't need that signal booster because it will be strong enough by itself.

  • So which one of your antenna inventions works the best? Have you also tried the coat hanger one?

  • well 5.0 works the best but its not uploaded yet

  • at last how 2 wires came?it was only 1 in starting!

  • 1.) quick question...im trying to build this but i want to know if you need the transformer or could you splice the wire together on the coax coppper to make a complete signal?

2.) does the wire have to be straight or can they intercept eachother?

  • as long as their not touching it should be fine

  • It is difficult to see how the 1 wire is routed to go from one end at one terminal to the other end at the other terminal. Possibly it leaves one terminal, zig-zags up the board (turning 180 deg at each screw)except the 2nd from the top right (90deg), to the top-right screw. Then it seems to leave the board at the top-right, then somehow comes back to the bottom of the board, and to the other terminal.

    o TRo o

    o o

o oo BRo || Does it go from TR to BR?

    Can you clarify please?

  • ignore the diagram in that msg, spaces don't work.

  • yews its just hard to see in the video :P ill put up a tutorial for 4.0 soon

  • What kind of wire did you use and what is his impedance value?

I'd like to build an antenna like this.can you write a list of materials?

Does it work with vhf and uhf bands?

    Thank you very much.

  • Does it work with vhf and uhf bands?

    yes

I'd like to build an antenna like this.can you write a list of materials?

Ill add them to my tutorial

just a high gauge copper wire

  • Holy Crap!!! I suppose HD Antenna 5.0 will look like an AM Radio Station Curtain Antenna (which takes up 2 acres of area). Kinda reminds me of Windows...with every new version, it gets more complicated and user "unfriendly".

  • lol,,, its not that hard to make, 5 will be a pyramid

  • This time you used Led Zeppelin.

  • Yes

    show us the results?

  • is it gonna work in VAncouver?

  • i dont know i live in toronto. it depends if you have stations out there but i would try

  • hey you live in toronto, do you get all the buffalo stations with this , also is it indoors and how many stories , cuz my mant 940 thats indoors 2 stories hi gets almost all buffalo stations in hd but channel 2.1-2.2-4.1 7.1-7.2 work on and off.

  • yep i all of buffalo

  • i'm thinkin do both sides of the wood with the loop.won't it be twice the signal?

  • Not necisaraly unless you dont know which direction the signal is coming from, in toronto its the C.N. Tower

  • so if I put 3 boards together, to form a triangle, and loop the wire all around it, wouldnt it be like an omnidirectional antenna?

  • any concern how many screws, loops ,etc? the more the merrier? what were your results? thanks

  • Theoreticly the more the loops the better, the more loops i put it works better But make sure the wires DO NOT touch each other. Just as long as the screws dont connect to eachother as many as you want.

  • can you show results?

  • yes ill get a video up soon but youtube dosent show quality very well.

  • youtube wont let me because of copyrights :/
