There are more tactics in AFL then Soccer and Rugby also a lot of the 'formation' is hard to see watching highlights on youtube. The oval is almost twice the size as a Soccer/Rugby pitch you can't get a good view of the zones, player positioning/set ups and set plays.

If you want to look at stupid scoring systems look at league and union. To score in both you only have to put the ball down over a line and you get to have a second shot at adding more points. Union is the only game where a team can win and not score a try.

Aussie rules was invented by Australians taking features from games played at various English schools. It is the oldest codified football game in the world. Older than Association football(soccer), Rugby, American football, and of course Rugby League. Melbourne, Geelong and Carlton are older than any English League side. Aussie Rules was the dominant game in Sydney prior to 1908 when the local councils banned the game from their grounds. Rugby League then took over.
