i know what you mean poopsmith11 i was at the last uofa game vs USC and was glad to frist hand exprience this song i got chills god damn do i love usc
this is after the "bush Push" game and usc beat nd 34-31 with 3 seconds left. the huskies were the next game on the schedule and i know this cuz i have season tickets so if u disagree with me then u r a complete retard
how many people are going to ask why they say beat the huskies? It is because they're playing the huskies next, I figured that out the first time I heard this.
either this is after a game and usc is going to play washington next or they aren't at notre dame; to answer the question, they are saying "Beat... The Huskies!"
I, too, hope the Irish improve. Notre Dame is a school with tremendously loyal alums. The same can be said for Michigan. USC's Trojan Family is legendary. Rooting for your football team is a tremendously fun thing to do. We live on the East coast and we're flying out for the Ohio State game. Got the tickets on stub-hub, cashed in the frequent flier miles and Hilton Honors points and we'll be in the house on game day. You can't have more fun. Good luck to ND, but for one game.
They are saying "Beat the Huskies!" When the game is nearing a close, the band looks to the next opponent and fills in the appropriate team nickname. I was at the Virginia game yesterday in Scott Stadium when the Trojans won handily and near the end "Beat the Buckeyes" became the chant at the end of "Conquest." We'll see....
Coming from a small liberal arts college the first time I heard this was at a USC homecoming with 90,000 people. It was incredible particularly the haunting "oohooh's" by the horns the fans. I wonder how many of you know this piece comes from the movie score "The Captain from Castile" (1948) about Cortez's conquest of Mexico? It was written by Alfred Newman who later gave USC the rights to the song and Alfred just happens to be Randy Newman's uncle!
I know that Mr Newman bequeathed the song to the university upon his death, but I didn't know he was the uncle of Randy Newman! "Captain from Castille" starred Tyrone Power....Conquest is played in the final scene when the heroes ride into town as the "Victors." Fight On!
Actually Alfred Newman gave the song to USC in 1950-5l. He died in 1970 after being the head of 20th Century Fox music from 1939-1960. He worked on 225 films and won 9 academy awards. Who knew? On USC's campus next to the "Town and Gown" is the "Alfred Newman Recital Hall." Wonder how many students know what this man has meant to USC?
Well, we now know because of you. Thank you so much for the information. There is so much history and tradition associated with USC, we need to let our young ones know these great facts.....did you know that John McKay's dying wish was for his ashes to be scattered over the FB field in the Coliseum? His wish was carried out. He loved USC to the end.
My friend died last year from chain letters repost this or she will come and kill you every time u here a ring in your ear she will make your life shorter and shorter repost this to 10 other videos
Stanford had so few fans at that game....we Trojans gave the Stanford Cardinal's team a standing ovation for their efforts on the field...hardly an act of sore losers - David did in fact beat Goliath in that game.
I'm one of the biggest nd fans around, but you gotta love this song. I love how your band stays and performs a nice little 'concert' for us all after the game, good luck this year up until the ND game of course!

Notre Dame fan here, love the concerts you guys put on after the games. Unfortunately, they're mostly after wins for you guys...
This is by far my favorite USC song, the "whoo whoo" parts give me chills for some reason.
