  • Sayin some artist is getting to commerial is quite ignorant. It's not the music that the artist is producing, its the music that we listen to, makes it what it is today. Music is like a drug, we only want more and better tunes. So i think we all get disapointed someday!

  • Saxon!! <3

  • chase and status aren't your bitches

  • quality :)

  • I know mainstream or watever is good for artists but...

When so many people get into the music you have all the cholo's and ghetto people bumping this like in an old ass grand national or a run down CRX :[

Thats not nice. Their music is fucking amazing true enough (making me sway off of Pendulum xD)

Dont know if what i said made any sense with what people have been saying on this vid but just my point of view on DnB / Dubstep going mainstream and gaining popularity in the US. DnB / DUB 4 Life.

  • its all about the money you idiots you think they give a fuk wat u think when there livin the life?

  • Artists become more 'commercial' because they are becoming more widely known as more and more people like them. Only truely amazing artists can accomplish such a feat. I like chase and status old tunes but I think they're making their best atm

  • @bredsticz If that's the term of commercial basicly every self respecting artist is commercial, because all they want is to be recognised by as many people as possible as being good artists. And I agree they are making their best music so far atm.

  • Stop arguing and just listen to the music !!! jeez

  • @lolitapedmyself not jeez you mean jizzzzz haha xD

  • i absolutely fucking love chase and status. LEGENDS

  • @junkymunkyking thumb up for the one guy not complaining or argueing :)

  • @Wiltonboy HAHAHA are u being serious, u do not have the slightest clue do you, chase and status do not make more dubstep :? wtf are you on about, chase and status b4 they become sellouts were smashing the dnb scene and they were relasing bangers on ram records now there commercial as fuck and are making shabbbby tunes DICKHEADDD

  • Comment removed

  • @oPROXZYo why does "commercial" always equal bad with you people? "Commercial" means that they are selling more records. That's known as succes. That's known as "Hmmm, I like this music. I'll BUY IT THANK YOU.". Get off your planet and go on a search for your own identity instead of staying in your puberty-I'll-follow-you attitude, allowing nobody in and crapping on everybody who strays a little.

  • Comment removed

  • @samsakerlovescss The bands get famous because of the music they were making before they got a little more recognition, they didn't get famous on what they were going to make in the future. Pretty backwards logic you lay down here. As for those "thousands of sheep" these are usually people who listen to ALL sorts of music, aka not confined to one close minded view on music, aka people who can relate to many identities which means they have a self created identity... And I talk out of my bum?

  • @Subher0 cause to get there people (artists) stray from their view. they make what other people want or seem to want so it becomes shabby. my opinion

  • @Pomologist666 Your opinion is noted but shared only by a minority. Chase & Status is commonly known as good music and I think the majority opinion has authority.

  • @Subher0 who said i dont like chase n status?

  • @Pomologist666 I didn't. You said artists stray from their view "to make what people want or seem to want". I don't agree. I'm the kind of person that doesn't stick to some specific style. It's either I like the song or I don't regardless of who made it. Because artists want to reach a larger audiance, that doesn't make them shabby, that makes them smart. People who make music they don't like themselves, don't keep up, clearly C&S are not part of the ones not keeping up.

  • @Subher0 it is drum and bass.

  • @Pomologist666 ... and dubstep yes I had that figured, thanks.

  • @Subher0 i couldn't agree more. well put.

  • @Subher0 you have a point... commercial or non commercial, it depends on ppls taste and more importantly, their mood for music. i just enjoy it all... much respect for your comment

  • @abzaldejem Sure I respect everybody's taste, as much with people who don't like c&s. But saying "because" they are commercial they suck is just a bogus argument. And most importantly artists who make music they don't like themselves to reach a larger audience won't keep up with making music. Clearly they like the music they make and they are reaching a larger audience through it. To me this makes them succesfull and great, in a positive way. Thanks for the reply.

  • @Subher0 no, commercial means that they're following a SPECIFIC aesthetic in order to sell records. BIG difference from what you're saying. Going commercial means you specifically make music that you know will be popular, rather than make music that you think is good or that actually represents how YOU feel. THAT is why commercial is seen as bad (even though it not always is)

  • @lexdiamonds1990 How would you know they are following this "aesthetic" procedure? As I said before, if they only make music to make money e.g. following this specific "aesthetic" you talk of, you won't keep that up. They are clearly making music they love and what other people like. I agree they may not make thesame music as before, but artists and their music evolve. Live with it. It's not because you don't recognise them anymore they suddenly became "commercial" in a bad way or they suck.

  • @Subher0 I never said I don't like them, and I never personally accused Chase & Status of going commercial. I'm talking about artists who go commercial in GENERAL. And yes, artists evolve, but when that "evolution" is driven by a desire for big sales, that makes you a sellout because you're compromising YOUR integrity for money.

  • @lexdiamonds1990 I also didn't say you didn't like them but this is about all "commercial" music. As I said before artists usually don't make music only for the money because you can't keep up making music you don't like yourself. If you make music you like and people like it aswell, that's a bonus. If I could get paid well for playing an instrument I'd love that, but if I would have to make music people like but I don't like myself I would do it for a while but not forever.

  • @Subher0 You're also assuming that they wouldn't keep doing something they don't enjoy because they're serious artists. But you fail to realise that no matter what anyone says, money changes people and money motivates people. There's plenty people who are gifted musicians, but have come to love money more than they love music, and so they keep putting out trash that they personally don't like to finance a lifestyle that they've become enamoured with.

  • @lexdiamonds1990 I doubt you'd be able to name 5 serious artists who do this. You could say Britney Spears, but she started out making music she's making now. I doubt Lady Gaga doesn't like the music she makes. As it goes for every artist. Yes ofcourse, these people make money off of it, but I know most of them make the music they also want to make, because they like what they make not only because it sells. 99% of the the artists are that way.

  • @lexdiamonds1990 And I know because I'm in that world and I know alot of artists including big names. I can't say they are my friends, it's just because of my job.

  • @lexdiamonds1990 So what you call commercial isn't the artist selling himself out it's the artist reaching the balance of the enjoyment of making music and making a living off of it, which is the goal of every serious musician I know.

  • @Subher0 You're missing the point. I say they're selling out because they're not making music they think is good or music they enjoy, and they're only making that particular type of music because it pays well. Is making music enjoyable? Of course, but when you DELIBERATELY make music that follows a particular aesthetic that you know will make money, even though you don't enjoy that aesthetic yourself, you're a sellout because you're compromising what YOU believe for some other gain.

  • @lexdiamonds1990 I see something being commercial as good, because the majority likes it. You make commercial into a foul word but it actually represents something good.

  • @Subher0 Just because the majority likes something doesn't make it something positive or good. The majority of American youths who were growing up in the late 90's-early 00's were into artists like 50 cent who glamorise murder and misogyny and that's not necessarily good or positive. The majority of Germans in the 1930's believed the Nazi party was right on, and the majority of Whites in general believed in White supremacy in the 1800's. MAJORITY people can be wrong, aint no strength in numbers

  • @Subher0 they have to water their music when they become commercial so it makes the label money because appeals to more people ( the type of people who like kiss remixes and shit)

  • @TheBarryviper Depends on what you call watering down. What you see as "watering down" isn't necessarily that for others. Most people say they have improved. And their music changed undoubtedly, but they evolved to that music and then noticed it became popular or "commercial" as some muppets would call it.

  • @Subher0 you only have to look at pendulum to see what i mean..... look at their first stuff and then look at their commercial stuff.

  • @Subher0 I think what he's tryna say by commercial is that most of the tracks hes producing are getting.. less dirtier? Less filthy? Therefore the community who like pop or whatever are starting to like it more, and the 'hardcore underground' peeps hate the new sound because its lost its darkness. Commercial is probably the wrong word used to describe it but people just do. I know this comment is 3 months ago but meh.

  • @Subher0 man, u cant be commercial, if u keep it reel and raw. so if u look it like that way, commercial music can suck. take rihanna and lady gaga for example. all the music on well known radio stations suck major balls. they became commercial because they are making music in a commercial way. u need to have a commercial vision on music if you go commercial with ur music. so they all start following the rest. thats why commercial music sucks most of the times.

  • @Subher0 u cant be commercial, if u keep it reel and raw. so if u look it like that way, commercial music can suck. take rihanna and lady gaga for example. all the music on well known radio stations suck major balls. they became commercial because they are making music in a commercial way. u need to have a commercial vision on music, if you go commercial with ur music. u need to fit in the picture to be a commercial artist. thats why commercial music sucks most of the times. its all the same

  • @Kannibal187 That's bullshit. "real" or "raw" are both subjective terms. If I find C&S real and raw, does that also mean you can't find them "commercial"? The fact that you think it sucks is your opinion, and that's why my initial post here was "the majority disagrees" and thesame goes for C&S. Yes there is a commercial aspect to music, because if you want to make good music, it takes more than 5 minutes in the barn, which leads to it being a fulltime job.

  • @Subher0 "... now there commercial..." (i believe he meant - now they are - and what he means by commercial is: "sellouts" usually when a underground band becomes famous they don't do the same music their beats change, their lyrics change etc in order to get the contract the cash the fan base the w/e their reasons r. yes commercial on a dictionary might mean that but thats not what ppl mean for example like the what oPROXZYo meant.

  • @Picobeat Yes and I refer to my initial post as a reply because I thought it was that all along, I quote "why does "commercial" always equal bad with you people? "Commercial" means that they are selling more records. That's known as succes. That's known as "Hmmm, I like this music. I'll BUY IT THANK YOU.". Get off your planet and go on a search for your own identity instead of staying in your puberty-I'll-follow-you attitude, allowing nobody in and crapping on everybody who strays a little."

  • @Subher0 the term commercial the way we use it means that it follows a criteria to sell more music and isn't actually what the producer wants to make... it's like being lost in translation, we use it in a different way as the word has more then one meaning...

  • @InAnonWeAreOne Yes ofcourse, but I already made the argument before and I'll repeat it for you, that people who make music only for commercial ends, while not liking their own music, do not keep up their work, so the music will eventually and/or not at all be listened to. It seems like every big artist is "commercial" to these people, using your meaning of the word. To me it sounds hollow. Artists evolve too, maybe you won't like it anymore, but that doesn't make them bad artists.

  • @Subher0 no you got it all wrong...

  • @Subher0 You are a gentleman and scholar. ^_^

  • @Subher0 Your more than right, people see commercial as 'selling them out'. It just means they have been tallented enough to make it in the big league. If a man walked upto them and said 'sing for 500 pounds a week' (underground) and then another came and said 'sing for 500,000 a week' (commercial) which would they choose? i know what i would choose.

  • @BigBr0mm4z Your example was basically the essence of 'selling out'. Reason I listen to artists like Amon Tobin, Atmosphere, Broken Note, ect. (other then being awesome), is that they make music that they love, not music their label loves.

Commercial's here for the money, underground's here for the music.

  • @Subher0 TBH I don't see such things as 'commercial' DNB maybe hip hop

  • @DRaSTiK1979 I just don't care if there is something called "commercial music". Good music is good music, end of discussion.

  • @Subher0 EASY Geez!!

  • @DRaSTiK1979 I am taking it easy if you feel attacked then I'm sorry.

  • @Subher0 Looool its coool

  • @oPROXZYo

Dude some people are just clueless, All they know is that they heard them on radio 1 with a dubstep sound LOL!!!

Chase and status just jumped on the dubstep bandwagon hype, they used to make some NASTY dnb tunes!!

They should go back to making dnb lol!

  • @Dannyd2134

are you some kind of prick? or just a legit Twat.

This Album is about 3 years old. do you really think CHASE N STATUS jumped on the bandwagon? No.

    THEY MADE THE FUCKING BANDWAGON!

  • @oPROXZYo yesh yesh I remember their old songs like saxon! goddamn THAT is a tune I would love to hear live! but now they play bs tracks I don't really feel like going to them... if they still do live shows that is haha:P

  • @oPROXZYo yeah and we all see you making plenty of dolla from your music... o wait sorry who are you ? muppet!

  • @sarah0833 Clearly, because you have no more arguments, you resort to name calling. Who's the f*cking muppet here? Think hard.

  • @Subher0 my argument was you are not making millions every month from your music are you? can you even create a beat? its like a single person giving you relationship advice...hahhaaaaaaaaaaa

  • @sarah0833 lol I never said I was a musician...

  • @sarah0833 You should read more carefully I guess you've been to school at least once.

  • @oPROXZYo that's a bit unfair, they still are making dnb bangers and their new album is sound pretty sick.

  • @oPROXZYo fuck you chase & status rock!

  • @Wiltonboy Haha, funny guy :D

  • @Wiltonboy

    you have no clue.

Pendulum ARE NOT DRUM N BASS!

they makes happy gay pop music.

Chase n Status make Proper Drum n Bass.

Chase n Status and Sub Focus are the two best in the Business. each time they release a new song it goes to the top of the Urban Charts.

You Never see Pendulum on Urban Charts.

    Fool.

  • @BKsMassive

but... pendulum are drum and bass lol

  • @jimmybobs87 technically they are not, they're like a mashup of rock, electro and drum n bass

  • @BKsMassive Stop being narrow minded. Not everyone loves the same type of music.

  • @BKsMassive pendulum are drum and bass haha get your facts right

  • @xvintagesoulx

    Fuck off you Prick!

Pendulum are a disgrace to the same Drum n Bass.

they are on the pop charts!
