  • Makes me want to dig it out of my game stash and install it :D

  • The problem is that most people aren't into RPGs that are actually RPGs, instead going towards the pseudo-ones offered by Bioware and Bethseda these days (and don't even get me started on jRPGs), which is why you don't see games like this getting any press anymore. Now you have to look to the indies for actual RPGs.

  • @Psydecar This game plays almost exactly like Fallout. The newer Fallout games still play like their predecessors, however, they are just shinier and have more visual flair. FO3 and FONV still play pretty much just like FO1 and FO2.

Don't cry just because it's not 256 colors and isometric anymore. Technology marches on.

  • @syn010110 Calling out a mediocre game for being mediocre isn't crying. Sure the new Fallout games aren't anywhere near as bad as Mass Effect, Oblivion or Dragon Age, but it's still lacking. Also, it's pretty obvious that Fallout 3 doesn't play like the original games. Fallout 3 is an Action RPG.

  • @Psydecar Lacking what? What, exactly, is missing? What do the Black Isle Fallout games have that FO3 and NV don't have, that can't be added with mods? What makes it an "action RPG?" Just because it's first-person?

It must be sad to hate everything. How do you even enjoy gaming anymore, if you're just so determined to hate every game that comes out?

  • @syn010110 "It must be sad to hate everything. How do you even enjoy gaming anymore, if you're just so determined to hate every game that comes out?" Dude, I want that quote framed. That is exactly how I feel whenever somebody points out that "games aren't good anymore". Just grizzled old gamers who hate new games for the sake of hating them.

  • @syn010110 it isn't even the same in various ways, as example it isn't turn-based, and the targeting system is a mockery of the ones of F1-2

  • @joriandrake VATS is not all that different from how it's handled in FO1 and FO2. The only difference is there are less discrete areas to target (i.e. you can't target the eyes).

Being turn-based is a technological limitation from the days when the original games were made. Our computers are faster now. We don't NEED to make games turn-based and thank fuck for that. I wanted to shoot myself every time I had to wait 2-3 minutes for the enemies to finish (slowly) moving...

  • @syn010110 "Being turn-based is a technological limitation" well, lets just agree on that we disagree then.

  • the soundtrack is brilliant, for me this is one of the greatest games of all time. the world of the game just sucks you in completely. the sad thing is that it;s so underrated...

  • @sn33v Damn straight... Many of them are. Torment is a fantastic RPG that many now would shy away from due to the amount of text...

In this day of modern 'grime and grit' effect FPS games, I can't help but return to the good old days, when it was less about set moral choices of 'outright evil' 'total neutrality' or 'pure angelic' and more about 'here's the world and story. Follow it, or don't... Your choice. See ya at the end if you make it... If not, at least have some fun whilst you're here.'

  • @Grigeral Amen

  • Arcanum soundtrack is epic. Great composition by Ben Houge.

  • Fantastic piece of music for a fantastic game!

  • Only if someone would step up and just build a game even just about Terant. See that booming metropolis rendered would be wonderful.

  • I wish this game's story was even longer. It was that good.

I can't get over the fact that sequel/prequel was already in production and then shut down...

The fact that we could have possibly walk down the streets of Vendigroth in it's full glory or witness the clash between Tarant gunners and Dernholm knights(?) is just mindblowing...

  • @DivinePonies Yeah...We're on the same page. It's such a shame...

  • @DivinePonies

although it's a shame that the game balance isn't that good, the story, npcs and everything else pretty much made it all worth it to play the game. i actually enjoy a decent storyline much more than fighting and lvling up. i mean if i want that i'd go play diablo. i recommend u to play Planescape Torment if u're looking for a deep plot. Arcanum, Torment, Baldur's gate and the first 2 fallouts are best games i've played after all these years.

  • @DivinePonies Tarant gunners and Denholm Dragon knight.

  • @DivinePonies it is really sad....

  • in-fuckin-credible.

  • i just loved to see an Aristocratic Orc in the intro XD

  • *half-orc ;D

  • that's why i always made a half orc character; just like Gar the Worlds Most Intelligent Orc (high strengh and charisma) it was pretty hard for a starter...

  • Take this ring!

  • the last 10 seconds are so good..

  • *tear*

  • best game soundtrack ever, in my opinion

  • This made video even better ;)

  • This game's soundtrack is KILLER.
