  • SO SWEET!!!! A REALLY GOOD VERSION, AND OF C OURSE HE CAN SING!!!!

  • After seeing them live and really HEARING those bass lines.. I swear I hum along to all the bass lines instead of singing the lyrics now.. especially with Planet Earth, Rio and Girl Panic!.. LOVE this version... (the year he met Gela right? )

  • have always loved this version..his voice is so melodic and beautiful. and he drives me crazy with those dark brown eyes, of course.

  • Shame about the background noise but a real gem!

  • This video is making my eyes hurt...simon john needs your help...:)

  • I'm honored that I had actually made guy laugh, proof is seen in photos from the Now and Zen concert in Golden Gate San Francisco 2003. What I didn't know I was hopping away from my fan area and had this female guard put me back to my spot I had no Idea I was moving; I was lost in staring at John. It was by miracle I got in to watch in front thanks to an angel of a worker letting me in since I stood in 90 degree heat watching the back of the stage for 5hrs because the tickets sold out .

  • Wow!! My favorite DD song being sung by my favorite DD man!! Beautiful...the song and the man!!

  • Brilliant version of one of Duran's best songs from a top guy.

  • Wow! what a treat. Thank you, thank you for posting this video. I absolutely love John and I never heard him sing solo before.

  • i just fell in love w/ him all over again...this is so great.

  • I really liked this slightly different take on a great old song. The video quality is poor but his voice seems to have gotten stronger since'89 when he recoreded "I do what I do"for the 9 1/2 weeks soundtrack..John's voice is more punk, they don't always have the melodic voices. Its the emotion in that voice that makes it exciting.I've been a Duran Duran fan since i was 9.I'm 38 now.I admire John for the sweet and interesting person I've always known.I mean,of course he's gorgeous.Hes just a guy.

  • Romantyczne wykonanie

  • i liked it

  • my swetter john

  • I thnk John has a wonderful voice. He may not be at his best here, but he does a great job at singing Save a prayer, I do what I do. and I love Feelings are good.

Give him some credit come on. Long live Duran

  • John is not a strong singer at all.. he cant hold a note at all. I saw him when he did he Terrorstein tour and it was kind of sad, cause he mostly played Duran Duran songs and ruined them by trying to do something only Simon can do, plus his backing band was kind of cheesy. He is a great bassist, but he cant sing to save his life. Andy was a better singer and thats not saying much.

  • @plasmaorb Lets be honest, Led Bon has never been a good singer either. I always thought it a shame that Stephen Tin Tin Duffy left DD. You can't help wondering about the band they could have been. Strange that he's never really been that successful in his own right, maybe he just isn't "good looking" enough!

  • @MisAnnThorpe - Simon has a way better voice than John does... Andy had a better voice also. Simon may not be the greatest singer ever, but he has that unique sound to him that makes Duran Duran who they are. Im glad Duffy left the band, he wasn't that talented of a musician or lyricist. I thought The Devils project with Nick was ok.. it wasn't as strong as some other solo outings that they have done. I think John is a great bassist, but thats all... backup singer only with mic on low.

  • @plasmaorb When you say Simon has a unique voice, do you mean it is uniquely out of tune? I have never heard The Devils LP but would definitely like to. It's true to say that Duffy isn,t a particularly talented talented musician and his vocals are nothing special either. However Duffy is widely acknowledged as being a very fine lyricist and songwriter. I don,t think anyone could justly claim Le Bon is in his class. Ultimately, it,s all about taste and I accept that you rate Le Bon, unreservedly.

  • @MisAnnThorpe - If you are a Duran Duran fan.. why do you hate Simons voice so much? Yes, Simon has hit some clinkers during his career, but at least he sounds like he does live as he does in a studio recording. How is Duffy widely acknowledged? No one barely knows about him, he wasn't a big player in the music field and never will be, he had a sorta hit in the 80s but so did a lot of other one hit wonders. Not sure why you are on here, you seem to hate Duran Duran, especially Simon.

  • @plasmaorb 1st of all I never claimed to be a DD fan as such. It seems obvious 2 me that u equate an artists talent with the No. of records they sell. Going by this, it stands 2 reason, that u must consider Robbie Williams a greater talent than say Talk Talk, Scott Walker or even Arvo Part. Supposedly, Van Gogh never sold a painting in his lifetime so how could he b 1 of the greatest artists ever? Y r u so precious about DD & lacking any objectivity? You're about as easy as a unclear war!

  • @MisAnnThorpe - ok.. first off.. if you are going to quote DD, its nuclear, not unclear unless you are trying to be cute. I dont think that whoever sells the most records is a better artist.... its about the impact you make and the true talent behind the artist/band. Skinny Puppy, Bauhaus, Joy Division never sold records like Robbie, but they had and still have impact on people today, just like DD does. Duffy doesnt influence anyone cause he wasnt that talented or unique.

  • @plasmaorb Yes, I am trying 2 b cute as u put it. If u weren't so incorrigibly biased, even u would concede than mine is an infinitely superior line. If nothing else, it makes u think, rather than laugh! Funny that u have no sense of humour in regards 2 DD. Lapping up tripe like that I'd have thought a s.o.h. essential. If Duffy is so talentless, how do u explain him actually making Williams sound good? That's what I call a miracle! B honest , DD would have killed 4 Radio & Tripping.

  • @MisAnnThorpe - I dont find you funny, cause it takes an intelligent person to be funny.. you say you arent a DD fan, but yet you use quotes from their songs and on here talking about John Taylor who happens to be in DD. Im not biased with DD, they have written some bad things and not always been on top of their game, but they are much better than a lot of other people out there. My knowledge and catalog of music is something you will never touch, since my tastes are vastly superior to yours.

  • @plasmaorb I seem 2 have hit a raw nerve. At no point have I said I dislike DD. I could probably name 20 songs I like. Going back 2 Duffy, why do u think he got the Robbie job if, 2 quote you verbatim "No one barely knows about him"? Again u have 2 wonder why Bates, sorry I mean Rhodes made an LP with 1 so talentless. Maybe it was 4 the same reason(s) Nigel Kennedy did. Yes, that Nigel Kennedy! Btw, think your last sentence was just a little bit puerile. Does it mean u've not heard of Part?

  • @MisAnnThorpe - Didnt hit a nerve, just frustrate me cause you talk in circles, nothing is straight forward, i hate that, reminds me of a Republican. Im sure Nick did the album with Duffy, cause they are friends. Im still talking about making an impact, Duffy never made an impact, just a small dent. Just cause he made an album with a cellist, doesnt mean he is god, just means he made an album that no one barely heard. Sounds like ive struck a nerve with you by not saying he is all that.

  • @plasmaorb My apologies, I hadn't realised u were American. From now on I will try to dumb down so as not to appear as if I'm talking in circles. Which word(s) confused u? Verbatim?, incorrigible?, puerile?, talent? Thanks 4 putting me right about Nigel Kennedy, 4 some reason i thought he was a violinist & not a cellist! It must b gr8 2 have such wonderful knowledge of music! When u talk about "impact", I'm not sure what u mean & I'm not sure u r either. Please elaborate. I'm curious, seriously.

  • @MisAnnThorpe LMAO...If Americans are dumb, what are Brits?

  • @plasmaorb Another apology, this 1 even more profuse &heartfelt than the last. I now realise that the sarcastic tone of my last correspondence was quite unnecessary but in my defence if I may explain, not that it excuses my rudeness, was due to a silly misunderstanding. U c, when you referred 2 Nigel Kennedy as a cellist, I thought u were being serious! Now, belatedly I realise it was of course a joke & a very good 1 too. How right you were, when u said it takes intelligence to be funny!

  • @MisAnnThorpe - When I talk about impact, I talk about how a band makes their mark on history (no matter what genre), like Joy Division did when they went on to influence countless bands like Interpol, She Wants Revenge, The Editors and many others. Skinny Puppy, without them, there would be no Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson, etc... I could go on and on, but it doesnt matter since you feel your knowledge is far superior to mine or anyone else on here. Impact to me is sound, sight and vision.

  • @MisAnnThorpe That's ridiculous. Simon's a fine lyricist, not perfect but all lyricists write crap sometimes, with his own unique vision and his voice IS good, it has character, which is true of most of the most well known rock/pop singers. Bono's voice isn't exactly great and never has been but it has character too and Simon's is technically better than Bono's. And Simon's come up with the many of Duran's melodies and harmonies--that's sort of his "job" in the band musically.

  • @plasmaorb Really all I'm saying is that the way we perceive bands is unfortunately, more often than not influenced by factors other than just the music. I was a big fan of Bauhaus 4 many years, still am, but with hindsight, I realise that much of the attraction was 2 do with image & had nothing 2 do with the music. Would DD have made the impact they have on u if they had looked like MC5 & dressed like College jocks? Would Joy Division have been as influential had Curtis not died so young?

  • he's a great bassist, extremely hot and ufff! handsome but his voice is a nightmare,

  • its soooo awesum to c john sing this song its almost kinda sweet and very sexy!!

  • He can't sing to save his life but is one of the best bass players in the world!

  • cool!

  • Without a doubt one of the most UNDERRATED bass players of all time!

His bass lines are the very heart and soul of every single Duran Duran song.

But I guess the money and girls compensated for the little recognition he received for his contribution to the band's immense success.

    7up!

  • @1ring2rule3pigs Any true bass player knows how Great this Guy can play the Bass! I know many bass players thaT RANK HIM #1 OVER EVERYBODY !

  • @1ring2rule3pigs If he looked different he'd get credit..

  • @1ring2rule3pigs The little recognition? John's probably the only who got any, Nick's dismissed despite the fact that he's mostly the "mind" behind almost everything they do, Simon's been put down and criticized since day one for his lyrics and his voice and looks, Roger barely got any attention at all(and for most years he seemed to want it that way). The only other one besides John who ever got recognition was Andy and he got more than he deserved IMO.

  • big john. my compliments for this video. ciao from italy

  • I've heard john singing other songs,he does have a good voice and you(cantbefaded)need to get back on your meds and chill out

  • ROFLROFL, what a bunch of lovestruck whores. John Taylor has about as much vocal range and talent as the punk rocker you know down the street playing in a garage band. And I actually LIKE the guy. His bass playing made me pick up a bass. But you people saying he has a good voice are stupid physically-obsessed whores.

  • Love JT forever! He's got a beautiful voice!

  • John has a good voice!!!

  • What a great watch. Normaly not to keen on Johns singing but this is awesome

  • I Believe John Can sing this song realy awesome.

  • john wonderfoul sweeter john hot voice.....lonely your nightmare

  • I have to admit, this opens a whole different avenue for this song. Nice version.

  • I always thought he had a great voice...What a gorgeous way to sing this song..

  • You always put up the best videos!

  • gotta watch this soon! But have to listen to the DD version first!

  • Lovely post love!
