  • If more nuke plants are built, wont they still end up under water??global warming wont cured over night.

  • @diagreen

the water is also contaminated, lol

  • Anti-nuclear is like fascism or religion

  • @suction I know what you mean, even if you try and question it, you will get attacked and trolled. People WANT to believe that Fuku is going to kill off the entire human race.

I'm currently dealing with the fallout nuts who insist Fuku's blast (that went 500 meters in the air) has gotten into the jetstrem(which is 33,000 to 55,000 feet above sea level) traveling to Canada and the US and is going to kill everyone 6500 miles/ 8550 kilometers away.

  • he looks like a deer in headlights

  • when fukushima first happened. I personally saw supposed great "experts" go on the air and proclaim that fukushima could never even come close to being as bad as Chernobyl. tell me somebody isn't given the order to stand down.

  • His idea about "going with the scientific consensus" is an absurd excuse for being a pretentious, posturing conformist.

  • George Monbiot YOU FUCKING SELL OUT DOG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I want this video on my X phone.

  • @SparkleBoyWonderToy I refute that saying "the WHO estimate that the death toll stands at 43" equates to saying "there is no way that the death toll is any other figure". It's hard to avoid paraphrasing with a character limit. She quotes a widely disputed paper (the NY academy of sciences don't support the claims in the paper she mentions). GM's blog deals in depth with the points that she fails to back up - but I don't imagine you'd consider that to hold much weight

  • The fact is that there is an enormous amount of prejudice against nuclear power because of the association with nuclear warfare. If you have any interest in facts as opposed to hysterical rhetoric, then I would advise that you look up the death toll from the use of coal power vs. nuclear, or IFRs, a safe, proven nuclear-power process that reduces enormously the waste (the biggest problem w/ nuclear generation) - the development of which has effectively been sandbagged by anti-nuclear sentiment

  • @SparkleBoyWonderToy ...the "conspiracy theory" is the link which HC states to be true but then admits she doesn't know anything about (but it's PROBABLY there, according to her) between the WHO & the UN scientific committee (UNSCEAR). Literally nothing she says here stands up to scrutiny.

  • @SparkleBoyWonderToy reactor processes have changed an immense amount since the early days when they were basically just a side-effect of creating Pu for weapons manufacture. HC talks about alpha-emitters, Fukushima released matter chiefly comprising beta- and gamma-emitters. GM is not "willfully ignorant" but is basing his opinion on the majority of findings through research. He doesn't deny the "real" death toll (he give an alternate figure) or the WHO/IAEA link....

  • @SparkleBoyWonderToy Monbiot is not a "shill", he is a scientific journalist that bases his opinion on scientific consensus reached through clear and honest investigations from a range of sources. She was factually correct about SOME of what she was talking about but unfortunately, most of it was completely inapplicable to modern nuclear fission or what actually happened in Fukushima or Chernobyl. She is a grade A idiot.

  • i can't believe anybody takes this woman seriously.

  • Caldicott is such a dill. She has not the faintest idea how to put a convincing argument in debate and is nowhere near the intellectual match of Monbiot. She does massive harm by misleading gullible people with her paranoid conspiracy theories and should be held accountable.

  • This video is a favorite on Tarawa Atoll

  • chernobyl and fukishma were HUMAN ERROR, chernobyl was a human mistake and japan was because they built a nuclear power planet on a fault line and only prepared it for a 7.1 quake it received an 8+ quake, nuclear power is not safe you are correct. but with the correct safeguard in place it could be, waste actually does have a use but the use is unethical and that is weapons, we need make reliable nuclear power or make renewable energy work and that means putting solar panels EVERYWHERE

  • This Guy is a paid idiot...! My teacher lived thru Chernobyl...this guy is blinded...to anything..I only read part of the report...this is the kind of news reporting half baked ..idiocy....I believe the Doctor...

  • Also the UN death toll count of 43 seems many magnitudes lower then any other.

  • There are a number of things that bother me about George Monboit’s perspective. I find it interesting that the thought of a conspiracy surprised him. The Milgrim study gives insight into how a social hierarchal structure operates. History has countless other examples. Another is a focus point on iodine to reduce children’s cancer rates. Why didn’t he focus on the point that the children where exposed in the first place. The negative effects of radiation would accumulate beyond childhood.

  • @3314adam He was not surprised at conspiration theories per se, but at the level which Caldicott apparently has bought into them (I suspect he had a little bit of respect left for Caldicott and was surprised that she too is now a crazy conspiration theorist).

What good would it have been for him to cry about children having been exposed in Chernobyl, I ask you? There is no way to turn back the clock.

  • @suction It gets to the core of the problem, that the plant was there to begin with.

  • @3314adam

And where should it have been? In downtown Minsk? It was built in a poorly inhabited zone and the town was built to service the large plant there - nothing more, and nothing less.

  • @52111centrumcz I should rephrase what I said. The issue is that it was built to begin with. Nuclear reactors are bad for our health, including increased cancer rates in close proximity to normally functioning reactors. Irradiated particles can wreak havoc in the fragile human body. Think of all the processes that are so intricate yet necessary, cognitive function, immune system function, reproduction, cardiovascular function, etc.

  • @3314adam

Then you probably should stop going to a dentist or doctor to have any X-rays done, and god forbid they CT you! And speaking of radionuclides, there are much worse things than functioning reactors....like the surface detonation of approximately 2 thousand nuclear warheadds with a yield of over 200 kilotons since the 1950s. Also I think RBMKs are a sin - they are a reactor with a void positive coefficient and a flammable moderator next to high temperature steam (Bad news walking).

  • @52111centrumcz No X-rays unless necessary, and as few as possible. They can cause chromosomal damage. Depleted uranium is really nasty also. We're covering Iraq with this deadly garbage. Its really sad, after we finally figure out how bad we f*cked up, we are going to have to deal with multi generational consequences of hatred after we pull out (or we collapse). Just plain old stupidity, treating life like a game. You can also check out the history of human experimentation.

  • @3314adam

How does depleted uranium come into the debate? You have caused hatred against yourself by just invading there, the uranium will only increase the hatred the British and American fucktards created there by there imbecillic behaviour. If you want human experimentation, I'd suggest US and English vids of testing of Sarin, Tabun and VX on human subjects(consript soldiers and prisoners that were citizens of those states).

  • @52111centrumcz I agree with you. Thats what I meant. I will look into your leads later. Thanks.

  • Doctor's can't lie - that one made me laugh. That granny is full of shit.

  • Have lost all respect for this guy. "I haven't read the whole report I've read part of it." So does this apply to all the reports he reads? My guess, after this interview, is yes. How can he fail to question the fact that the IAEA is engaged in a campaign to suppress any suggestion that nuclear energy is not safe. We only have to look at the way Fukushima was dealt with, and the way the IAEA PR machine operated internationally in the weeks following the accident.

  • @digimaton You, like Caldicott are firmly in the realm of speculation. It is easy to make outrageous claims when you are on the "right side", i.e. are part of the popular opinion. But that does not change the fact that any speculation which cannot be proven by peer-reviewed sources (i.e. by multiple independent sources) is not worth considering. Saying "we only have to look at...", that's exactly wrong. Subjective "only looking" at something does not lead to a better understanding of the facts.

  • @suction "the facts"? so you are denying that lies were told regarding the scale of the accident at Fukushima to buy time, and that they were told despite the potential risks to the human population? the nuclear industry engages in obfuscation when something goes wrong, that is a problem. How does your devout scientism address this when clearly dishonesty has nothing to do with science?

  • typical british idiot...has not read the report...no knowledge he needs to shut up...shes dam right!

  • @MarcoBocoure Actually, he has read more than her

  • @suction mate he has not the report! his competance to talk about the issue or rather lack of it is out of question... simple...what kind of journalism it is?! besides he is a widely know arrogant half-wit...

  • @MarcoBocoure I disagree. He simply asks the so-called "competent" people for peer-reviewed sources for their claims. What a good journalist has to do, but very few actually do. He does not need to have more knowledge than the expert, his job is to put the claims experts make to scrutiny, in order to help the public to form their own opinion. And Monbiot is a very good journalist. Calling him an arrogant half-wit is more revealing about the accuser than about him - like trying to suppress him

  • @suction mate this is silly....its like talking a bout a movie which you have never even watched!

are you out of your mind? he made himself a total fool by joining debate not having read it! simple!

and he is a jerk not a good journalist......fool of himself piece of work...verysad guy!

  • @MarcoBocoure I am not your mate. You don't know what he read. All we know is that lady is not arguing like scientist should do, but like a school kid, i.e. she is a victim to her own emotions. She is the one who must be put under scrutiny for outrageous claims like "Turkish food is highly radioactive", and I bow to Monbiot to do his job right and asks people to back up dangerous claims with evidence. Anyone trying to shut him up is doing a bad service to mankind.

  • @suction you have serious issues..... sort yrself mate

  • @MarcoBocoure That is exactly the answer I would have expected from you. When you run out of arguments, you resort to personal attacks. It is sad that the anti-nuclear movement is made up by people like you for the most part.

  • @suction do not patronize me..... i made a clear point! this guys is unprepared for this debate simple

  • @MarcoBocoure LOL you must be very young!!

  • @suction u have very dirty tactics...trying to play what im sayng down..patronizing me....silly man

this guys has not preparred himself simple...no one who is professional gives such pathatic interviews....

  • @MarcoBocoure I understand what you are saying, but I simply think you are not able to tell because you are either not knowledgeable about the matter or biased out of fear of nuclear energy.

  • @suction boo.....my opinion on nuclear nergy one thing! the fact that this guys is unprepared is my point! how many times do i have to repeat myself!?

  • @MarcoBocoure No, the woman is not prepared to back up her claims. In a very disappointing move to defend herself, she asks him if he read a certain report. He hasn't read all of it which he freely admits. Yet, the blame is on her because she is not able to back up her claims with factual information. Read the background story if you don't believe me, it's in the Guardian. You are simply being deluded by her stupid strategy to blame him for not having read one (of many, many sources). You=moron

  • generally the masses do not want to know until their own life is seriously affected by illness etc, then you may just manage to wake them up to why they are ill!! many different reasons for illness, but radiation, and ;chemtrails, figure quite strongly, don't these people care what they eat and breathe..thank god for people like Helen, she has balls!!!!!!!

  • @birdienumnums1 oh but most def! I highly believe the 1% pay a good amount of people to put out mass deception within the media to divert the whole point of depopulating the sheep by uneducating them what they don't know won't hurt them because it doesn't even exist in the first place as even a thought...

  • I would like to remind to Jorge that there is an agreement between WHO and IAEA since 1959. IAEA promotes and regulates nuclear power but also would like to control the information on no. of death from nuclear disaster. The truth can’t come out from WHO because of the agreement between two organizations. [One will not release a report without an agreement of the other.]

  • Re-open the coal mines and enrich our atmosphere with carbon as all life will benefit. Germany is leading the way.

  • Paul Fusco is a photographer that visited Chernobyl 20 yrs later to photograph what happened there. Search google: Paul Fusco + chernobyl. Photos that he took of the birth defects developing are heartbreaking. Look at the photos to see how high the energy costs are to the human race. You will see this now in Japan as well. Given a half lives 1 million yrs, how can mitigate the effects of these "accidents"? Whose food will you eat now? Japan's? Russias? Ours in the fallout zone?

  • "I'm praying for tidal waves, I wanna see the ground give way, I want to watch it all go down, Mom please flush it all away, I want to see it go right in and down, want to watch it go right in, watch you flush it all away." Bye bye man, GOOD FUCKING RIDDANCE TO YOU

  • George Monbiot is the result of being a test tube baby and someone shook the tube. Who would support a nuclear bomb being heated any where near your home to give you energy. Any accident is unchangeable and then uninhabitable by any form of life. Poor Japan, we as a people have learned nothing other than money is more acceptable for death if you keep paying people to turn their head the other way.

  • @skippy077 You clearly have absolutely zero idea of how nuclear power stations work.

  • @skippy077 Your personal attacks and the rest of your comment shows that you are not intelligent. I guess that's why you are anti-nuclear?

  • Interesting, how people who can read think they understand . . . not true . . . as is obvious by the reporter rat who get's his arse handed on a platter by Helen. :)

  • @02Gullible

    well .... I saw it

  • @02Gullible,You sir, are one of the BIGGEST pathetic ,low down, patsy trumping childish little goof I've seen on TY in a long while. You take the time to insult people on there own page while hiding behind a privacy setting on your own account. I bet you got punched out a lot in school for behaving like that.

You seem like the type to start shit and run to the police whining because you have a big mouth. Why don't you stop being a loser and man up for once in your life? Stay off my page, Goof

  • I am most interested in this, I live in Bangkok. But this one fellow who rants and raves and uses the most foul language I just delete it. Let's discuss this I am interested in Michio Kaku fellow he seems to know.

  • @02Gullible Look man, I'm not trying to argue the dangers of nuclear energy .. I'm all for the speedy transition of nuclear energy to clean energy.

I'm arguing that she is exaggerating the extinction level event that she says will come from fuku according to her were already dead the entire fucking planet wiped out. No hope.

That is what I'm arguing. Her knowledge of the situation over there, she is making wild claims about a place where people are still living.I gave you facts wheres yours?

  • Compare fuku with Chernobyl ... that would be a start and look at how many people are still in that area in Japan comparing levels of radiation online with others,, that couldn't be true if it was a FULL scale meltdown like she claims, with enough plutonium to kill everyone on earth like she claims.

  • Enough plutonium in Japan to KILL EVERYONE on Earth. 500lbs of it in each reactor. Anyone near that shit would be dead .....gotta love how she laughs while saying that, so confidant eh? I'll tell you something man, no one on main stream television knows the fucking truth about what is actually happening over there, the ones who DO know you wont find on fucking TV this chick is taking you for a fucking ride, go ahead hate me for telling you that, do your own research goddammit.

  • @02Gullible Fuck you. I'm not lobbying for nuclear power, nor would I ever. Facts ?? Ok dumbass. She said their is enough Plutonium in fuku to kill everyone on earth. Chernobyl, over 200 workers died WITHIN THE FIRST TWO WEEKS from being within 200kms of the disaster zone. FACT. there are people taking readings with their geiger counters and comparing them with others online in different areas WITHIN 200 kms of the affected area in japan ...it's now been 5 months why are they still alive MORON!

  • @02Gullible , she stats that the entire world is at stake for nuclear fallout from this single disaster, that could be true for specific areas that depend on nuclear power that have been effected from a natural disaster. But the entire Globe of the world will have been infected from fuku alone??? Com'on

Yes it's true, I'm no scientist, or professional at this, but I do know when someone is telling me a big fat lie to sell a book. Get a grip.

  • And now one question:

    WHO'S paying for this?

We're paying with our money and our health.

    SHUT DOWN THE POWER PLANTS.

  • Her answer is perfect. She's sovereign - referring to serious sources.

It's obvious that he's kind of stinky sock exchange representative.

After this interview he should buy some new underwear as well.

  • This Monbiot - it doesn't matter what HE knows about "climate change". The discussion is OVER. MILLIONS died.

THEY'VE LOST. Remember the world war I reparations? NOW you have to pay.

We want to see your excuse and your ACTIONs now!

Who pays for the millions of victims ?

  • THIS technology FAILED. Another accident would be inexcusable .

SHUT DOWN all POWER PLANTS. And we want to see regular worldwide measures of artificial radioactivity. This is OUR world. It's NOT the property of the nuclear industries!

  • @moonomatic

well - I suppose we have to change a lot. Everyone who says yes to nuclear power these days must be a lobbyist. Maybe you should invest somewhere else. This technology FAILED.

    SHUT down the POWER PLANTS.

  • @BlueMagicEarth

If we take the number of deaths as published by the Russian medical journal of cancer, and we add the dead from Three mile island and Fukushima we get around 60 thousand dead in fifty years. That's about two years of mining accidents for coal power. Makes you think...if you have a brain and use it sometimes.

  • George is ignorant and arrogant --a bad combination.

  • One last troll comment from me on this video: The average intelligent person could disable the volume on this video and know who's the liar. All in the body language bro, when it comes to being a bullshitter, we all resort back to 3rd grade. This dude is full of shit and got crushed. Look at his body language. He even believes his own bullshit based on a weekly paycheck. Gotta pay that mortgage huh fuck face? Helen crushed this fool.

  • If this was a boxing match - Helen Knocked This Guy The FUCK OUT. TKO by Dr. Helen Caldicott. Dude got his ass handed to him.

  • Harold Shipman didn't lie. He just killed his patients!

  • You can see by his face that he is a paid off scientific cherry picker himself.

  • Meh !

  • "You have to go with the scientific concensus"??? If we did that we'd still think the world was flat!!!

  • @SteveAstronaut

well I guess his head is flat as well.

  • Once anti-nuclear environmentalists like Stewart Brand and James Lovelock have changed their position because the sad truth is renewables alone are not enough to power our future.

No one is trying to spoonfeed you that nuclear is safe enough but IF you really truly care about climate change and the Earth you will at least do your own thorough independent research to determine whether nuclear is worth the risk.

  • Good onya Dr Helen - you are an amazingly knowledgeable person with the guts to stand up in the face of adversity and speak the truth. I'm not religious but "God Help Us ALL" It's scary that you don't hear about this anywhere else!

Why on earth do we need nuclear anything?? Solar and wind power is the future and if we don't act now we have very little chance. Human greed for power and money is going to end in a dead planet well before we can work out how to poulate another planet.

  • Which idiot hired that second idiot? what "miles and miles of dead trees"? If you have data, you say exactly how much, not "miles and miles".It's world's biggest natural reserve now, FYI. Forest around chernobyl has recovered about 10 to 15 years ago. Any idiot can look on google maps, it's that simple.

ANd why does she go on for hours about some random and irrelevant genetic diseases, last time i checked they where not caused by radiation.

  • Helen is absolutely correct that IAEA does withhold WHO from studying without their permission. He is completely blind to reality. Monbiot is disingenuous. WHO/IAEA's lies based on350 European studies that there were only a few deaths at Chernobyl, NY Academy Sciences Chernobyl book based on 5,000 Slavic language studies & is true, 1 million deaths from Chernobyl & much genetic damage

  • how can Monbiot lie to the camera-it's so obvious he knows he's lying.

  • Helen is so well informed and can back up all she says with real critical thinking it boggles My mind the amount of patience required to continue going on with such courage and resolve. The tenacity alone gives me hope. She's not way ahead of her time, she just tells the truth, which is always threatening and met with avid resistance. I just applaud her so much foe enlightening us all and hope she continues her work

  • Helen is so well informed and can back up all she says with real critical thinking it boggles My mind the amount of patience required to ontinue going on with such courage and resolve. The tenacity alone gives me hope. Shes not way ahead of her time, she just tells the truth, which is always threatening and met with avid resistance. I just applaud her so much foe enlightening us all and hope she continues ker work

  • Monbiot is a LIAR! and he uses orwellian word and concept twists to claim victimy and analogy between progressive energy advocates and right wing climate change deniers, as if the audience or helen caldecott wouldn't notice his deceptive psychology....

    A LIAR!

  • @bbbbmer

You disagree with Monbiot. That's okay. But please don't exaggerate. Mr. Monbiot is not a liar. He's trying to explain that abandoning nuclear energy could prove counterproductive since coal/gas actually has a higher death toll, if you look at the statistics. The fearful public perception created by nuclear disasters often clouds our ability to accurately look at the real death/injury statistics, as compared to other energy production methods. I don't think he's being dishonest here.

  • @icarus313

can we produce some electricity ........ without killing millions of people?

Ask yourself - and take a look at the victims, go there and take a look.

Don't come up with "statistics" - you know that everybody can create and modify them. -. Take it as a primary source. THIS time EVERY argument PRO nuclear power is invalidated.

  • @BlueMagicEarth

I wish that were true, but it's not. The present day reality is that every method of generating energy known to man, apart from some emerging renewables, is responsible for death and injury. Your think we can switch to green energy very quickly, but the numbers are DAUNTING! We will get to that goal much faster if we have the energy to bridge the divide. We cannot ignore the numbers. We must get to a green economy with the temporary aid of nuclear, rather than fossil fuel.

  • @icarus313

which numbers? I'm sorry but I don't understand you. I can't see any refutation - or relevant source.

This makes further dispute completely unnecessary. Good night.

  • George is very very ignorant for a grown man. The "scientific concensus" was and is MANIPULATED by a few men. And those are not good men. Those men are CONTROLLED by big industry which wanted to propagate PROFIT at ALL COSTS without regard to mankind. UN, US Government and their federal divisions are all the same.

Just look back at the conver-ups and bad decisions those entities have done. It is right in-your-face and you are trying to ask them to kill you ???.

  • She's a liar with a narrow self promoting agenda. Doctors can lie their socks off outside of treating patients, and she is. As George Monbiot researched for The Guardian most of what she says is not supported by her quoted sources. She takes facts and extrapolates nonsense from them and talks over anyone presenting reasoned arguement and critcism. Coal emissions until recently were 1 Chernobyl of Bequerels per 7 years per GW. I'm a Physicist with 11 years of my career in radiation protection.

  • @briancatt

hey ... millions of victims are liars and dissemblers as well, I guess ... lol

BTW and New York Academy of Sciences is leaded by activists and terrorists, right?

This is a bit pathetic, don't ya think? No harm meant!

  • A lot of people are in denial. It threatens their paradigm. Go and visit chernobyl if you don't believe what Helen is saying. Go and visit pripyat.

I can't believe how stupid some people are.

Nuclear energy IS diabolical energy. It is accumulating in our planet and in us (right now at this moment).

Wake up and stop being stupid. Your children are at risk. Money is behind all of this - and the nuclear industry will tell any kind of lie in order to get its hands on government money.

  • @telemetry9

So tell us, what powers geothermal energy? why it's Nuclear Fission, Nuclear energy is what powers the sun, heats our planet(geothermal energy) etc. to claim it is diabolical is plain scare mongering. Look up Oklo the NATURAL nuclear reactor in Gabon. And by the way, I have visited Chernobyl. 20,000 deaths total are expected due to Chernobyl. That 20,000 figure comes from the International Journal of Cancer(who have pioneered treatments for cancer and saved millions of lives)

  • In fact, let George Monbiot live up to his words on nuclear power, and make him go and live either in Chernobyl or Fukushima...right slap bang next to the plants themselves...Then, he can test it for himself. As a Species we have become so damned arrogant, assuming we have the right to ruin this beautiful planet in the name of progress for us. We are merely a tiny part of all this incredible world..but we are doing so much horrendous damage.

  • @LizzieCornish 100% AGREE with u lizzie !!!!THANK GOD !!! THERES some real human beings that understand the full scope of this nuclear shit !! NUCLEAR SUKS BALLS !!!! GOD giving green energy !!!!!! SOLAR/WIND/ HYDRO/ GEOTHERMAL is the answer !!! phase out all nuclear plants to hydrogen plants !!! so so sad the amount of blind sheeptards !!!!!!! GOD BLESS ALL AT THESE TIMES !!!

  • Anyone who advocates any form of power, which, should it go wrong, has the capacity to contaminate the Earth, along with every single species upon it, for hundreds of thousands of years, has, in my opinion, seriously taken leave of their senses. We *know* how evil this stuff is, yet we still go on using more and more of it. We're told how 'clean' it is, how 'safe' it is. Fine. Then send in those who truly believe that right into the heart of Fukushima & Chernobyl with no protection.

  • Anyone who advocates any form of power, which, should it go wrong, has the capacity to contaminate the Earth, along with every single species upon it, for hundreds of thousands of years, has, in my opinion, seriously taken leave of their senses. We already *know* how evil this stuff is, yet we still go on using more and more of it. We're told how 'clean' it is, how 'safe' it is. Fine. Then send in those who truly believe that right into the heart of Fukushima & Chernobyl with no protection.

  • people who defend nuclear power really, really creep me out

  • I think Caldicott is doing an awful lot of cherry picking. She seems like a bit of a loon. And she is boasting. A LOT.................

  • "There's enough renewables energy right now to power the USA by 2040..." Did anyone else spot the inconsistency in that sentence? Honey, it's 2010 and I want a toasted sandwich NOW, not in 2040.

  • @Number1BadBoyInnit

and you are? The goddess of nuclear industries, and ?

The ONE who declares the death of 980,000 people as a confusion of radical conspiracies ?

Ok then ..... maybe you should go back to your own place - behind the bars of ignorance.

  • If George Monbiot is stupid, like a lot of you suggest, then Helen Caldicott is a fucking retard. Monbiot knows more about nuclear power and global warming than any of you dumb shits on youtube. As for Caldicott she is a conspiracy theorist plain and simple. She is ranting and raving about the doom and gloom of the end of the world as we know it. You people are just way too fucking dumb to realise it. Nuclear power is way fucking cleaner than coal power when maintained properly.

  • @moonomatic love the discussion not the bad language, that shows your educational level. The Japan situation is real and the danger is coming cause they are burning debris that will be released to everyone. This is fact.

  • @MrSkycop19511 Oh yeah?

What exactly do you think my educational level is?

Sure the Fukushima disaster is "real" I never claimed it wasn't.

That doesn't mean we need to shut down all of the nuclear power plants around the world, put unwanted strain on the system and increase other forms of energy production such as coal.

It was a natural disaster, something no one can predict.

But they can prepare for them and this is what I propose they do in the future instead of shutting them all down.

  • @moonomatic

well .... natural desaster or not. That's not the point.

  • @moonomatic

sorry but it's over - nobody can bear the risk.

  • @squeezing1234 That's where I have to disagree.

No country is going to completely abandon their nuclear power system because they are not completely retarded.

They need energy and nuclear power is the best way to get it.

However I predict in the future there won't be any new power plants built on the coast near active subduction zones.

This was the biggest mistake and the reason for the magnitude of the Fukushima nuclear disaster.

You would have to be completely insane to switch to coal energy

  • @moonomatic

we could have 50 or sixty percent of clean energy now if they would have decided in a responsible way.

That's much. I'm very sceptical when it comes to "global warmth" - because in Europe they proclaimed a climate change and new laws were following - everybody had to buy new cars. This was obviously another aid package for the automobile industries after the stock market crash .

  • @moonomatic

and it doesn't matter if you disagree because you can't take a risk like this.

Not a single insurance wants to do this job - that's why the nuclear power industries try to hide the victims. It's easy because the cancer is not visible at the moment the accidents HAPPEN. Only a very naive person would believe that there is a solution.

We were never perfect - NOBODY can take THIS risk.

  • @moonomatic

I'm amazed that arguments like yours and mine are met with such unequivocal rejection by so many environmentalists, despite the fact that we're almost completely agreeing with them. I always tell anti-nuke people that we can rapidly progress to a point where we don't need nuke any more but that the only way to do that without using carbon is to bridge the immense energy gap with tightly-regulated nuke power until green power renders them obsolete. And yet, they HATE me for it!

  • @moonomatic

well the fallout doesn't know any frontiers, kid.

  • @MrSkycop19511

    correct.

  • George Monbiot is one of the dumbest people I've heard talking about Nuclear Data. Follow him into cancer; I'd much rather have a fucking pinwheel or solar cell thank you very much.

  • yeah, this guy is an ignorant stupid.

  • HA HA , MONBIOT U ARE TRULY AN EVIL CUNT

  • Manbiot sucks MrAntireligions dick

  • Mark, I don't know if Pons and Fleischman were bought off or threatened off. But the good news is that these inventors are now getting organized. There's Keelynet and Stephen Greer's group, can't remember its name. This gives the individual a bit of solidarity when the government or oil industry sends in their goons to destory their work.

  • Fusion assholes!

All these indigents pushing (nuclear) fission should be hung, shot, or locked up... they are totally INSANE!

  • MonBIGOT et al. are perfect examples of the ONLY KNOWN way humans can deal with a nuclear catastrophe: with SPIN, LIES and DECEPTION –– because there's nothing else that can be done. There is plutonium found at great distances from the Fukushima compound. It got there because of a prompt criticality in the spent fuel pool of reactor unit 3 –– or in layman's terms: a nuclear explosion! It will take 900.000 years to vanish. But even C137 alone would take 300+ years to clear.

  • MonBIGOT is a tool –– it's a FACT that the WHO signed a treaty with the IAEA that WHO cannot report about the real impact of nuclear radiation without first having the IAEA "scrub" the data clean! Hence they keep telling the public the lies that only 47 people died as a result of the Chernobyl disaster. In reality, nearly *one million people around the world* died from exposure to radiation released by the 1986 nuclear disaster, finds a new book from the New York Academy of Sciences.

  • Monbiot is sooo full of shit!

  • Monbiot is such an ignorant tool.

  • Politicians are owned by the corporations.

  • just ignore the facts and bitch about what other ppl say. yeah thats the way of all the smart intelligent ppl here.. fucking retards

  • George people are not dumb you need to read more about the information before you go on about what you are talking about.

  • oh okay you fucking idiot.. plenty of intelligent scientists are saying the same thing.. but your dumb ass cant even read once fucking fact or truth.. so learn somthing before you go aruging with a intelligent woman.. that is smarter than you.. thats for sure.. fucking ignorant fool you look like a fucking idiot! id love to kick you in your fucking face..

    rot in hell bastard

  • @208jodi Try talking like an educated adult.

  • @MrAntireligion fuck u

  • @208jodi My point exactly. You wouldn't have the balls to say it to my face so don't be a coward and say it in text either.

  • @MrAntireligions OMG are you still bitching and whining? come on man shut the fuck up.. stop arguing with me about Monbiot.. if you think hes cool than good for you go fuck yourself. There are enough real smart ppl here that are not ignorant like you. you come at me cause what I said at monbiot just shows how much you want him in ur ass..your a faggot..and a retard all at once.. must suck to be you.. now go ahead and say what you want cause your blocked ..sillyl faggot dicks are for chicks!

  • he is saying 43 people died from chernobal.. she is saying 1 million died... i think she is a lot more correct

  • George is ment to be intelligent? he seems to waffle on about crap

  • Hydrogen power now!! X

  • Helen does speak some significant and probably very important news to come. It is kept very hush-hush. Google "Although government officials still deny that Chernobyl has increased cancer cases in Turkey, doctors and people in the Black Sea region do not agree..." The government there keeps saying all is kosher BUT its own professors and doctors have tested the teas and found high radiation and acknowledge a big increase in cancer and child deformities. Hail ho government so good to its people

  • Just google 'Fallujah + birth defects' or 'Chernobyl + birth defects' it is the most heartbreaking thing you will ever see in your life. How dare people like George Monbiot advocate for the potential affliction of this kind of inhumane act upon innocent people and future generations. You are an embarrassment to Oxford University.
