J'ai fait le même genre de découverte, il y a plus de 30 ans. C'est le fossoyeur communal qui est venu récupérer le corps ... à grand coup de pioche. Il a tout détruit ! La gendarmerie a récupérer les indice d'identification et à mon grand regret, je n'ai pas été tenu au courant du résultat des recherches .. s'il y en a eu :-( Ce soldat a du décéder le 21 août 1944. Son corps a été enseveli par le explosions du puissant canonnage de la position qu'il tenait.

The tag isn't broken. This indicates that other Germans didn't bury him; if they had the time to bury him, they would have certainly taken the bottom half of the tag for graves registration. Those tags also corrode badly in the ground. Plus, for all their efficiency and organization, the German's dogtag system is the most screwed up thing in the world. Other nation's tags identify the individual who wore them; German tags only refer to a codebook which may no longer exist.
