@LiamRproductions but gaming is a fun activity. there is bound to have some people two will be addicted to gaming. too much time spent on something with no moderation can cause addiction. like a person who is addicted to work.
sorry for my weird comment. i did a really bad mistype.
@rangerahboi No, it is. There is no published medical evidence anywhere in the world that shows 'gaming addiction' actually exists, whereas alcohol can, in fact, be addictive.
What if the guy died the same way from Watching TV instead of doing video games? Would they still blame Video Games for him sitting on his ass watching "ONLY" television 24 hours a day not moving?
Cause if they do then it further proves that they are biased against video games.
One of my exs would always get upset when I played my ds cause I didn't pay attention to him but when I wasn't playing it he would ignore me to listen to his iPod or text and he said I had a problem, I could at least stop playing for an hour and my playing the ds was just that I needed something to do while he ignored me.
It was his fault, not the games or his game console :P It was his fault because he most likely didnt even move he's fat ass, maybe only when he needed a bag of snacks ...
Video game addiction doesn't exist? What? Ofc it does, just like every fucking other addiction to anything. Then if it harms u or not is another question. And in that case it only does if it's out of control. But that goes for everything. So I agree with everything u said... except that, obviously there is an addiction. It's stupid to say otherwise. I'm addicted to video games, and music, and cookies, and other humans. And so on.
@LiamRproductions There is no need for such a thing. Just as there doesn't have to be paper on that a apple drops to the ground, it's obvious and you believe in that. Same with this, I am addicted to video games.
@MurdocLC You don't really seem to understand what constitutes an 'addiction'. Just because you're inclined to do something a lot, doesn't mean it's an addiction.
@LiamRproductions I didn't say that. Inclined to do something a lot? I said I'm addicted, as in craving, in need of something. Or else I go crazy. That is some form of addiction. We all have it. But like I said, doesn't have to be bad. But a very good video otherwise! People with no knowledge about games are so fucking ignorant. -_-
@MurdocLC There's a reason why 'video game addiction' isn't accepted by mainstream science as being real; because there isn't any evidence to support it. Thus, there needs to be evidence for it, just as their needed to be for existing, accepted, REAL addictions. There's just no arguing with that. Facts > personal beliefs.
@LiamRproductions Just because you can't see it doesn't mean it's not real. Is there evidence that people can be addicted to cookies? If not, u can't believe that either? I didn't think people would argue against this anymore, especially gamers. Then it just sounds like ur trying to say "no I'm not addicted!" as if it's something wrong with it. I'm sure ur addicted too... u just don't wanna admit it. ;P
@MurdocLC theres no evidence to suggest that you can be addicted to oxygen, but i swear its just because nobody will admit it! you know that guy that died from a shark,he was breathing OXYGEN at the time.Explain THAT with your mumbo jumbo science!
@MurdocLC Are you seriously saying that you can develop a medical addiction to cookies? And are you seriously using that to back up an argument that you can become medically addicted to video games? Because if so, you are simply an idiot. No more needs to be said.
@Veyneru Hahahhaha. What? I didn't say anything about it being "medical". It's simple fact. Like u can be addicted to cigarettes or chocolate, you can be addicted to cookies. Cookies might contain chocolate. And dopamine, the same chemical that is released to the brain as a reward under sexual activities, is proven to be released also with video games. Thus you can be addicted. But even without that logic, it's simple to understand how games can be addicting. Just as Casino games.
@MurdocLC SARCASM,IT was a parody of the fact that you can say this sort of crap about anything but it doesn't make it a addiction i.e IM LINKING IT TO SINKS! 90% OF ALL HOUSES THAT HAVE BEEN BURNT DOWN HAVE HAD SINKS! OBVIOUSLY THEIR SINK ADDICTION WENT TO FAR

why is it that nobody ever mentions that cases like these might be caused by lack of control or a case that causes anti-socialness such as autism or depression
Won't watching TV give you a slightly higher chance of thrombosis, because you literally aren't moving(if you spent sessions as long as 12 hours of course)?
What kills me was the mentioning of gaming rehab(2:45), come on, this gaming addiction nonsense came from the ones who don't want to blame themselves.
@ZaneBarrow I'm not sure that they "can't", but I think most of us who play games are smart enough to limit our time with them to prevent an addiction from occurring. Anything can be addictive if someone is dumb enough to overuse it.
@ZaneBarrow They so can though. When you enjoy something, it releases endorphins into your brain. If you enjoy video games it releases endorphins into your brain, and you get a slight high from playing video games. Thus, video games can be addicting. Anything that releases endorphins in your brain can be addicting.
@squishyblanket Yeah then why won't anyone say the same to sports? Heck they don't even say that about TV. Nor would someone say it about lucid dreaming. Making porn, making normal movies, having fun, acting, dancing, building things, playing chess, hacking computers, drawing, reading, driving, taking vacations, making music, and last but not least criticizing people for what they say or do are never considered addicting unless you are a huge hipster. Why is that well that is because it is the f
The media only focuses on video game addiction because, of course, video games are their scapegoat. Any time video games are even REMOTELY to blame they always focus on video games. And of course, most of those things you mentioned could very possibly be addicting if you enjoy them. That's how addiction works, you feel good doing something, so you want to do it again and again and again, and it's hard to stop. It's a non-substance based addiction, but it's still an addiction, like it or not.
@squishyblanket No, FUN is addictive. The same endorphins that videogames can release can also be released by reading, watching television, having sex, playing sports etc. So no, endorphins do not mean videogames addictive. If we don't say that televison, sports, reading etc is addictive (even though by your logic, it should be), then we can't say that videogames are.
@ZaneBarrow You're a fucking moron. By how YOU described addiction, "the altering of brain chemistry that force the brain to crave what altered it", then yes, video games ARE addicting. And yeah, so are a lot of things. You're basically further proving what I said to be right.
@ZaneBarrow How the hell do explain my addiction? I'm not saying I need help or suffer from it, but ofc video game addiction is real. Just like any fucking addiction. To say otherwise is just stupid. I'm addicted to cookies and video games and music and other shit. We all are addicted to something. Doesn't mean it's bad, it could be, like any addiction.
@ZaneBarrow well it can actually in a way depending on who you are people can get addicted to any thing that makes them happy. if thats all they got then they bcome fixated. its more OCD than addiction. If nothing else in life draws them. They dont care if they lose friends but if they lose data its the end of the world. Most Non sustance addictions are caused by nothing in the world being able to match video games.
@extremeeXrement1 Thank you for being much more reasonable and polite than the tw others who disagreed with me. Even though I don't agree with your logic, I will choose not to waste both our time by arguing. And again, thank you.
@ZaneBarrow Agreed. I get bored when I don't play video games sometimes, but I can go without it and I don't "crave" it. I just play it alot because there's nothing to do in my area.
Oh who cares anymore? They will always use current technologies as scapegoats for social problems. I won't be surprised if the tablet computers are blamed for arthritis, or if smartphones are blamed for the decline of face-to-face communication. This is just regurgitated arguments regarding video game addiction. Never properly proven, false facts, and biased opinions that end up relating to other causes of people's problems. This is why I go online for PROPER gaming news, not this rubbish.
Um...I don't know anyone who plays Move, Kinect, or Wii Sports for hours on end. Not saying that I agree with these guys, though.
Every video game addiction article or documentary that I've read/seen is practically the same: they're all about people who refuse to take responsibility for themselves or their children, and blame video games for their own (or their own children's) social/physical problems.
Non-gamers are ignorant and should stfu. Gamers, even hardcore, have very intense lives. To be thrown in a world, and becoming part of it. I'll now see the non-gamers like Muggles...stupid ignorants (lol). Oh and video games is the most social thing ever. Playing online and chatting with thousands of people! Sure, you don't see them but, you do interact with them. It's even better when you and your friends are all in the living room playing a game all together! Games are awesome ^_^
@ChampionRevilo Just a heads up....spending excessive amounts of time per day with online gaming is about as anti-social as you could possibly get. xD
The guy with the green shirt and hat made me want to punch his brains out so bad; you HAVE an option to go out and do, "better things in life", but you choose to play video games, so it's not the fault of the object, it's your own...you know what, I'm tired of repeating this; end post...>_>
Yeah we have "Unhealthy addictions", meanwhile, let's ignore those who actually are with serious additctions that kill people, put people in prison, and things that ruin/seperate families each and every single day in favor of people who do something as an activity and not a problem, good job morons...T_T.
this is stupid, im on my xbox or pc for around 5 hours a day in the summer but i always make sure i have meals on time and i drink a lot of water, its the people that are stupid want something to blame
@Gameking53 lol the only idiotic comment, is the guy taking that as offense... if you actually questioned me on what i mean tthere if you did not get it we would not be having that problem. all videos ive ever seen about british homes and all that involving parents are bad. all of these videos from liam are about british families and their kids on addiction. therefore i say that all of the cases i see parents in britain, are stupid. which is why i say "no offense, thats just all i see)"
@gamereviewsss I was not offended. I was not causing any problems either (as if I was insulting you personally). I just find it a silly generalization, especially as I live in Britain.
I hate how people can watch television for hours on end and then criticize gamers and computer users. At least we are somewhat interacting with society by being online, and at least we need to use our thinking capacity to play rather than just lay in our own filth watching pregnant teenagers.
The first I heard of this man dieing from supposedly spending too much time gaming in one session, I just knew the media would blow it out of proportion and more or less give a general impression that it is likely to happen to anyone who plays games more than the average person or as they like to call this, a "gaming addiction"
Lets lobby for legalizing every drug known to mankind. Then people will stop blaming games for sure, and it will probably help stabilize the natural selection.

@ChampionRevilo Just a heads up....spending excessive amounts of time per day with online gaming is about as anti-social as you could possibly get. xD
catholicgamer99 6 months ago
@catholicgamer99 I go to college and I have a job. I'm not playing 24/7 like that guy did lol.
ChampionRevilo 6 months ago
@ChampionRevilo Still, online gaming DEFINITELY isn't "the most social thing ever". xD

@catholicgamer99 I was on "defense mode" When I wrote that XD

That's it! I'm quitting gaming to pursue a life as a deepsea fisherman it just seems safer.

The guy with the green shirt and hat made me want to punch his brains out so bad; you HAVE an option to go out and do, "better things in life", but you choose to play video games, so it's not the fault of the object, it's your own...you know what, I'm tired of repeating this; end post...>_>

Yeah we have "Unhealthy addictions", meanwhile, let's ignore those who actually are with serious additctions that kill people, put people in prison, and things that ruin/seperate families each and every single day in favor of people who do something as an activity and not a problem, good job morons...T_T.

this is stupid, im on my xbox or pc for around 5 hours a day in the summer but i always make sure i have meals on time and i drink a lot of water, its the people that are stupid want something to blame
hellowmellow55 6 months ago
why does it seem like all british parents are stupid... (no offense, thats just all i see)
gamereviewsss 6 months ago
@gamereviewsss What a sweeping and equally idiotic generalization.
Gameking53 6 months ago
@Gameking53 lol the only idiotic comment, is the guy taking that as offense... if you actually questioned me on what i mean tthere if you did not get it we would not be having that problem. all videos ive ever seen about british homes and all that involving parents are bad. all of these videos from liam are about british families and their kids on addiction. therefore i say that all of the cases i see parents in britain, are stupid. which is why i say "no offense, thats just all i see)"
gamereviewsss 6 months ago
@gamereviewsss I was not offended. I was not causing any problems either (as if I was insulting you personally). I just find it a silly generalization, especially as I live in Britain.
Gameking53 6 months ago
@Gameking53 lol dont try to play dumb :P you know what you mean by saying that. and yea i know you live in britain i am one of your subscribers.
gamereviewsss 6 months ago
@gamereviewsss I'm not playing dumb. And I won't try to turn this into an argument.
Good day to you.

alexzinger123 6 months ago
@alexzinger123 and thus continues the blame game....
Linksapprentice100 6 months ago
@gamereviewsss Because all of the British parents that you see are in Liam's monocle-wearing rebuttals, and Liam is British.

I hate how people can watch television for hours on end and then criticize gamers and computer users. At least we are somewhat interacting with society by being online, and at least we need to use our thinking capacity to play rather than just lay in our own filth watching pregnant teenagers.
SonicobbsessedR2 6 months ago 36
@SonicobbsessedR2 Exactly! Forget crack and alcohol addicts, no, gamers are the main addicts.. *Shakes head and sighs*
chidoriss 6 months ago
@chidoriss They never said that gamers were the main addicts.
catholicgamer99 6 months ago
@catholicgamer99 I know, it was a joke.

The first I heard of this man dieing from supposedly spending too much time gaming in one session, I just knew the media would blow it out of proportion and more or less give a general impression that it is likely to happen to anyone who plays games more than the average person or as they like to call this, a "gaming addiction"
