@xkharnex According to Buddhism, there exist limitless galaxies, so they would not oppose science. Also, there are ways of reconciling faith and science that do not mean having to pick between one or the other. That is a dangerous standpoint to have. We don't need to get rid of anything, we just need MUCH more education on the subject.
@CreationMINUTE Kind of a shame that if we had listened to religion through history, we would never have even known that there are other galaxies in the universe. You say "Glory of GOD", I say glory of scientific and human progress.
@xkharnex True in a way, although religion has brought many ills such as Crusades etc, don't forget that science has also brought many ills - nuclear bombs, genetic modification etc. I'm not religious (agnostic)... just say'n ;-) One thing I will say is that when I see stuff like this I know there is a God (maybe not a single entity) and I feel rather insignificant, but lucky to be alive.
@sphinxart It was stupid ignorant selfish ppl that created destruction out of science, not science itself...guns don't kill people, people kill people...instead of distributing its knowledge, they keep it for themselves, turn it into a weapon and threatened us with it, want us to stay in complete ignorance and slow human progression...a little bit like religion...right?
@xkharnex My religion specifies that God's creations are endless, and its texts are all 2000 years old or older. Keep in mind that not all religions discourage research into the sciences, in fact very few do. Listening to the catholic church is very different to "Religion through history." Just remember that the middle ages were not all of history, and europe wasn't the only place in the world.

@sphinxart Blame the game, not the player. Science doesn't kill. People do.
