Roy Jones has the fastest punches in the history of boxing! Isn't he like a record holder for that stuff? Probably has the most accurate punches also....
@tibianus123 i believe that is Pep. Pep was very fast, elusive. He once went an entire round, not throwing a single punch, making the guy miss, and still won the round. As far as power, he lacked. over 60 Ko's in over 200 victories
@tibianus123 sugar ray leonard hit fast and not strongly yet he kept owning everyone because his flurries were so fast the opponent was overcome by the multitude so yes, speed is power.
MMA is great but Boxing is harder. It harder to remain standing up when your hurt tired and beaten and bloody. The whole point is to knock your opponent into a state in wich he cannot get up. I've watched so many MMA fights where guys are laying down getting great rest. Three Five minute rounds for a Championship MMA fight doesnt compare to 12 and back in the day 15 rounds of standing. MMA Is awesome but Boxing is the one.
@TheKickboxkid Lytle= not exactly in the pro circuit. Winner = never even heard of him. Davis the fake irish hand grenade = never heard of him until UFC. Been watching pro boxing since about as early as I can remeber is 1984. None of those fighters was even in grade school.
@TheKickboxkid and might I add, just because you say you are going pro doesnt make you a pro. Earning a spot on the rankings list is considered professional, not journeyman status or stepping stone for up and comers.
whether the opponent is black or white o.o it doesnt matter. Pacquiao is standing on top of the world o.O he did beat black boxers. no one wants to challenge him now
how could you forget to include kid chocolate, the reason white globes were introduced in boxing, the could not count his punches. what about kid gavilan, the inventor of the bolo punch (used by sugar ray in this video)
@chiconspiracy Why are you getting mad ^^ .Chill out MMA's fun to watch but it's fun to see sugar ray robinson and all these great boxers .It's for our fighters culture ,not to do this stupid fight between boxing and mma ^^
@lundbaba01 When you have the kind of motivation to prove people wrong, especially against those who may look down upon you, it happens. It shouldn't surprise anyone to see so many great athletes come from difficult or tough backgrounds. They have all the motivation to change and improve their lives.
This can't even be a legitimate discussion without including Terry Norris and Manny Pacquiao! In his prime, Norris had the fastest hands of any boxer I've ever seen.
suggestions for part two.....Meldrick Taylor....Sugar Shane,....Young Tyson,......and of course Roy Jones Jr......ooh yeah Sugar Ray!! we're talking about everything here right...reflexes, footspeed etc......not just hands......
@ZigZagRunner I used to think that............but I would go with Lewis now once I've detahced myself from my idea of loving Ali........if you've ever seen Lewis up close in his prime like againt Holyfield......too big, too strong longer reach...... and almost as skilled........Ali who would also be giving up the best part of 2 stones (28lbs).......and still think Ali is the greatest but he'd lose to Lewis which doesn't make Lewis the greatest either....weird that!!
@rudeboysw9 yeah, but ali has better footwork and is faster also he doesn't submit that much of a reach disadvantage, i've watched holyfield lewis that was a close unanimous decision at best. and holyfield 2 was closer ud at best. holyfield had shitty reach relative to lewis. ali's is closer, better combinations, better chin better stamina, i still say ali. : ]
The Heavyweight class needs to return to dominance in boxing. The reason boxing is dying is because the Welterweights have taken over, which is sad. I would be fine with it if the welterweights were brawlers but they aren't. No great fights like Leonard vs Hearns, Foreman vs Ali, Tyson vs Holyfield, Ali vs Patterson. Now the biggest fights are Victor Ortiz vs Mayweather sad era to live in
thumbs up if you agree jake lamottas chin was like cinder block..u see him eat 20 maybe 30 ina row from sugar ray the best ever and never went down!! watch between 43 and 57 seconds in it was 20 to be exact.
@ROCKYSHORE6 Yeah well Ali was a heavyweight compared to these smaller guys so yeah you may be right but Ray Robinson as a heavyweight would have beat Ali up bad.
@MrJoelouisbarrow How are they gay? That comment had NOTHING to do with sexuality, if you are so insecure about your sexual orientation that you have to insult people by calling them gay, then I think you need to reassess your sexual preferences. Jus' sayin'
@ROCKYSHORE6 Ali was something else. He punched with the blinding speed of a cat. One of the first Boxers to use the straight punch to such great effect too. Swag, Personality .....smart, funny .... humanitarian super nice guy gentle soul out of the ring. All around beautiful person, much like Pac-Man is, but more theatrical in the ring and in his celebrity life. I couldn't believe how humble Ali was out of the ring. Ali & Pacman: My 2 faves of all time.
@abcdefghijklmnop4865 As much as I hate to admit it, I agree with you my friend. If Tyson could'nt catch him very early, Ali would pound him into dogmeat. Foreman couldnt ko him, frazier couldnt ko him Liston couldnt either. Ali in a 8th round tko.
I rely on Ring Magazine the Bible Of Boxing because it recognizes the best boxers from different Associations. Ring Magazine put Pacquiao on top of all boxers past and present based on his accomplishments as 8 div champion. Voted best boxer of the decade by diff. association. Even the fans & players and super starts of other sport organizations basketball, football, soccer, tennis, golf etc. idolized Manny (PACMAN) Pacquiao as the bast and fastest boxer on earth.
@pittchaser We can't compare each other because the abilities of each boxer is base on ti's training and fighting styles of the boxers during their times on earth. If we consider everything, Manny Pacquiao is the best boxer of all times ever = he posses everything = fast and furious, sturdy, power and the unequaled accomplishment eight (8) different weight categories World Champion.
pacquiao shouldn't be considered even in the top three, also in the class he's fighting right now, besides cotto, he hasn't fought a fighter in his prime nor the best fighter at that weight class
also, his victories against marquez should've been reviewed, lots of people think he didn't won those fights
he's overrated by the time we're living and the media, but i would really consider him between the top 10 or 20 of all time
@thewhiteSRR No, I read it elsewhere too, a separate study by Jim Jacobs who measured both fighters' jabs, Robinson's was 8 and a half frames, Ali's was 6 and a half. The 'phantom punch' was 0.04 seconds. But overall boxing skill has to go to Robinson, I think. But Ali's countering ability, speed and accuracy in his prime is unrivaled.
@thewhiteSRR although robinson did beat those opponents more easily, i think ali had the better resume because he beat superlatives: fastest hands, patterson- hardest hitters;' shavers foreman liston, greatest swarmer/body puncher frazier. but thats just my opinion. in ali's prime, he won easily. (early 60's was green) there was a documentary where it showed Ali was faster than Robinson. A shame we never saw him of 1969, Dundee said he was improving at incredible speed, so did cooper
@thewhiteSRR wow. Yea i knew he did somethin along those lines to george foreman but never knew he did it like that. so u think that robinson may have been the best "boxer" of all time but u think that ali truely was the g.o.a.t. ? (im assumin joe louis isnt even in the title picture in ur opinion since u didnt mention him lol?)
sugar ray robinson's uppercuts look hilarious the way he throws em .... they also (and clearly shows) like it would knock some1 the crap out cuz it looks sooo hard. It looks like he jumps into it n puts his whole body in it. Also i dont really watch boxin so can some1 who's watched it for a bit tell me, alotta kats think joe louis n even moreso sugar ray robinson were the g.o.a.t. , not ali. what do u think n why??
When my grandfather was a boxer he told me about how we got to spar with floyd patterson :P and how he knocked him out witha left hook on accident >_<
i have no doubt muhammed ali was the fastest boxer with the fastest reflexes ever,no boxer could fight like ali, his punches were not just fast but they looked beutifull also, especialy his combination punches, his reflexes belong to cat and his fighting determination often made the man resemble a conered lion or a tiger, and its an absoloute myth wen ppl assume just becuase a fighter is smaller that he should be faster,if thats the case then the fastest 100 metre athletes should also be midgets

Also i dont really watch boxin so can some1 who's watched it for a bit tell me, alotta kats think joe louis n even moreso sugar ray robinson were the g.o.a.t. , not ali. what do u think n why??

i have no doubt muhammed ali was the fastest boxer with the fastest reflexes ever,no boxer could fight like ali, his punches were not just fast but they looked beutifull also, especialy his combination punches, his reflexes belong to cat and his fighting determination often made the man resemble a conered lion or a tiger, and its an absoloute myth wen ppl assume just becuase a fighter is smaller that he should be faster,if thats the case then the fastest 100 metre athletes should also be midgets
