Now THAT was talent. No wonder that she and Petula Clark were consistently voted the top female singers throughout the 60s. Cilla and Sandi hadn't got a look-in compared to them.
Of course she was a lesbian! She was living with her girlfriend even before she went solo!! Unless occasionally being photographed on the arm of a single guy makes you heterosexual... In the 70's she came as far out of the closet as she was comfortable with and she was incredibly brave about it. The Melissa's and the K.D's of this era have a lot to thank her for and as for the rest of us, we just have to be thankful that we got to hear that voice because no other singer comes close to her...
She wasn't a lesbian, Late in her life she was 'confused' and had a couple of affairs which she herself described in the most neutral terms. Most of her life she led heterosexually.
She was an amazing talent. Her life kinda sucked though. She was a lesbian in an era that wasn't very receptive to such things. Still, you'd never know she had a care in the world when her voice took flight. Love this clip!!! Thanks!
Very rare clip indeed, she recorded this track in 1968 as part of the "Dusty... Definitely" album sessions. It's was made available for the first time on the 1994 4-CD box set "The Legend of Dusty Springfield". But does anyone know the date of this video (my guess is somewhere in 1969) and what (tv)show it was ?.

A great talent, one sorely missed.

Dusty 's voice was a sitting duck for jazz.Personally I'm glad she devoted less time to jazz, country and folk and more on pop/soul
