This is a very good rendition of this song, it's just the damn electric bass man. It would've swung so much harder. The sax player's got excellent tone
hey thanks this is really cool. ive just joined the senior jazz band at my school (which im reali not ready for : o) on guitar. we play it realli fast and i couldnt get that riff, this helped alot. cheers guys and great playing. inspirational
sax player's awesome, and the drummer/bass player is solid. guitar's alright, i think his comping is good but he needs to learn how to swing 8th notes and play changes. he certainly has some decent chops though. i also don't care for his tone at all (chorus has a lot to do with it), but he sounds like he's playing 9's or something and it sounds really brittle.
he def should not have put the little synth on the guitar. you dont really need a piano for this song. i think thats what he was going for. whay that bass drum so small? lol
you dumb mother fucker. what the fuck are you talking about. please tell me where in my previous comment did i say that the guitar player sucked... and i didnt know about jazz kits. jeez, why dont you read next time and not assume that i know everything.
hahaha i didnt assume you know everything.. infact i know that you know nothing. its their arrangment of that tune he can do whatever the fuck he wants maybe when you post a video of you playing as good as that you can bitch about his synth setting...haha synth wtf its a chorus or flange you stupid fuck i dont give a shit.
you sound really dumb right now. my first comment was my position on the chorus. in case you didnt know, their are these things called OPINIONS. everyone has one. you may disagree with mine. thats YOUR opinion. maybe you should take your dick out of your mouth and read aloud what you type before you post it.
yes very dumb. im so stupid i really know nothing about music lmao....... you know what i think is dumb..someone who doesnt know jazz kits exist when theyve been around longer than your precious rock and roll music..and also i think its pretty dumb when you dont know what effect a guitar player is using when its clear as day.
i think it really dumb when you bring in new topics that dont even apply to the argument. my precious "rock and roll". where did that come from? yeah, you should truly consider taking that advice i just gave you.
well man obviously if you dont know jazz kits exist you must be a person into mainstream music aka SHIT! im done with this though what a waste of fuckin time.
your point is becoming more transparent with every response. im actually not that into mainstream. there you go assuming again. all you had to do was correct my errors if you didnt want to waste time. instead of putting words in my mouth and saying that i must know nothing.
Wow, uhm... Aaron has a point, you're a fucking jerk. I'm a music and theory nerd, all about learning the basics and proper technique but someone has to start somewhere. Everyone's human and allowed to make mistakes, and everyone is allowed to their own OPINION. Music is all about expression, opinion, and PERSONAL PREFERENCE, so who are you to say what sucks and what is worthy of listening to?
People like you make shit musicians... opinionated dickwads that think their way is THE way.
This was an abosoultly amazing performance of "Oleo". It sounds a bit like Michael Brecker doing it. But then again, it is on a tenor sax. But he doesn't have as much fire as Michael. But its amazing. 5 stars dude. Hit me up on here if you need a keyboard player.
Guitar effects and an electric bass for bebop? What the hell? The drummer needs to stop doing that half-time lick at the top of the changes; It makes it sound like a funk tune. The tenor player is badass though.
I concure, the guitarist has to lose the chorus, and the solid state amp, for that matter. The dynamics could be more pronounced. But for your guys' age, you sound really good.
usually better equipment makes better sounds, and if you want to sound like this guy using similar equpiment will help.... although i believe embouchure and practice gives truly good tone
If one is a good musician, they can make anything sound good. The way they hit the drums, or the cymbals. The way a musician plays make a WORLD of a difference between and good sounding musician and a legend...
You guys played through the changes really nicely, but I'd say that there could be a much greater dynamic range when building the solos and the Rhythm section should really be listening to each others rhythms and phrasing to work of each others lines.
the bass is hardly heard, but you could hear the rhythm changes' changes through your solo! a piano would do only good to you. I like the solo and the sound very much! =)
The guitarist has somewhat of a mike stern sound

because of the chorus he uses
