At least the character designs in this actually look like their respective characters (Bowser looks like Bowser, with the red hair and such, Princess Peach/Toadstool is blonde instead of a redhead ect). Oh, and apparently the Spiney-tossing cloud Koopa is just as much of a douche in this anime as in the actual game.

I think I'm going to call this movie's version of Luigi "Warigi" from now on, 'cuz he seem to be the protoform for both Luigi and Wario, I mean it isn't that much of a stretch for the imagination to notice how Wario-like he is: is exceedingly greedy, wears yellow and blue clothing (not to far off from Wario's signature yellow and PURPLE outfit), has an aloof and unfriendly demeanor, ect. Needless to say I find it incredibly odd how Mario's the one with a gruff (in a Wario-ish kind of way) voice.

This movie is loosely based on the Mario game series (Super Mario Bros. to Super Mario Galaxy) and a few bits are based on Howl's Moving Castle.

This movie is definitely not new. I believe Super Mario 3 wasnt even around when this came about, let alone any SNES versions. And definitely (hehe) no Mario Galaxy. But Joe is right about one thing. Its loosly based any of the games. Its a story of its own. Pretty enjoyable. :)
