  • So much better live.

  • Edward Gein is not technically a serial killer by most standards, since he only has two confirmed victims and three is considered the minimum. He primarily robbed the graves of women who resembled his mother. It's no excuse for what he did, which was reprehensible, but he was raised in such an unhealthy environment that it's not hard to see what went wrong. This song to some degree really reflects the sad, deranged life this man lived and I can't help but feel terrible for everyone involved :(

  • @Xenbae boo hoo, that was like 50 fuckin years ago, get over it bitch..ha

  • The first song that I heard every new year is NOTHING TO GEIN !!!

  • Gein is spelled this way because its in reference to "Ed Gein" the serial killer.

  • Gain?

  • @RottingJaw cereal... lol

  • @RottingJaw

The CEREAL killer? LOL :D This made me laugh hard

  • @RottingJaw

    :D ok that's great)

  • 7 like and adding..... but not one will come from this girl!!

  • after ive read a good book about ed gein...chad gray nailed it...this song is the best artistic take on his story ive ever heard.

  • @TheWildcatWarrior im not saying you DID but you probably just thought of that

  • @TheWildcatWarrior cough, erm... SOILED. SOILED. SOILED. SOILED.

  • I wish the part at 2:58 was longer.

  • who ever doesent like mudvayne go fuck yourself

  • This was always my favorite song of theirs. It was only a year or two after getting this cd that I started listening to death metal and forgetting the music I listened to before this. I find the death metal I listen to extremely heavy, but at the same time, I no longer feel the same anger I felt while listening to Mudvayne, or many other "nu-metal" bands. I wish I could listen to this music and feel the same way I did when I first heard it...

  • i don't think half the people listening to this know what its about... if you're curious.. look up ed gein. read his whole wikipedia page, top to bottom. it will make complete sence..

  • They're bass player is a such a monster, I was a kid when I was into this, and a lot of other bands that went to shit. It's the actual talent they had as musicians that set them apart from all the others.

  • i don't listen to this style of music anymore, but re-listening to this song, i get chills. "am i sick, if i bathe myself in others' blood?" creepy shit--intense. i remember why i used to love this album. too bad mudvayne went straight downhill afterward. this cd had so much energy and passion, the others were just kinda convoluted.

  • Ive seen them 3 times in St. Louis... 02, 03, 05, and when this is played... it is the sickest shit you've ever experienced... bar none... never a disappointment!!

  • yeah. one word. sweetness.

  • @Metalheadmalitia actually, it's the dose that kills 50 out of 100 test subjects.

  • good shit, reminds me of the good ol days

  • this has to be the BEST Ed Gein song ever.

  • I saw them in '09 on the Pedal to the Metal tour. Chad ended up hacking and almost puking after this song because he gave it so much. It was incredible

  • @InaGameComa haha i went too, i was in Moline IL

  • For those who still dont know what LD50 is its Lethal Dosage 50, a scientific term for how much it takes for something to kill you. Everything has an LD50. Even cheeseburgers.

  • @Bonchika correction....the L.D. 50 is the dose that will kill you 50% of the time

  • @Bonchika I was eating a cheeseburger when I read your comment....XD

  • Whats LD 50 mean? I know I heard that before in my chem class

  • @Cropse666 Live Dosage 50

  • @crashbandicootgamer no that was a concert it actually stands for Lethal Dosage 50 at least i think

  • @Cropse666 as that guy, genocide said, it's lethal dosage

  • @Cropse666 its lethal dose 50

  • Best song played Live.

  • 240P, !? What are we, In Kenya?

  • anyone know what song it is when mudvayne sings about tidal waves and earthquakes? it was the first song i heard from mudvayne and i cant remember it >.<

  • @narto33 i think your talking bout the song fall into sleep

  • @narto33 either all talk or fall into sleep

  • @narto33 death blooms

  • Probably my fave mudvayne song.

  • @AttilaBlasphemer It was okay, but I like the other movie they made of him better. It actually showed more of his state of mind. The butcher of plainfield pretty much focused on the killing.

  • @bignacho, i agree self titled album was good and sounded more like early mudvayne!!!

  • 02:16 my favourite part. :)

  • oh god mudvayne rules

  • Ed Gein is awesome! Ed Gein was a little man not like Kane Hodder who played him in the butcher of plainfield movie. I think he was 5 foot something.

  • I remember rocking out to this song in my pick up with decent speakers playing this real loud and parking one day by my work. An apartment was right in front of me and some chick heard the music and started doing some sexy dance to it. Then her boyfriend came and took her back away from the window he was all pissed. Good stuff.

  • @chris82179 wait how do dance in a sexy way to a song about a murderer who took dead people and used them as suits and had two women strung up like deer, decapitated and slit open from the vagina to the chest and gutted them.... and possibly ate and/or fuck them..... that chick must of been into some weird shit.

  • @RKOboring9

    my kinda woman

  • @RKOboring9 Technically, this song isn't About Ed Gein , just inspired by him

  • @chris82179 maybe you shoudl have done wahateev you wanted to do to her and then killed the boyfriend for interfering

  • @chris82179 Cool story bro.

    But really. Cool story.

  • The 5 people that disliked this can go crawl in a hole and die.

  • If Ed Gein really did look like the dude who plays him on Ed Gein: The Butcher of Plainsfield or whatever, forget the town. This song could bring me an awesome image.

  • I'm basing a character I'm playing off of Ed Gein.

  • Duddeee..Don't listen to this song too much. The wall behind you crumbles and dead bodies fall out.

  • So. Fucking. Good.

  • Edward Gein lives on because of this song. That and the movies they made about him. (chainsaw massacre)

  • dog bitch

  • 4:57 as a bass player if you listen to that part you'll hear one of the best bass lines ever written but what adds to this effect is greg's guitar playing. With both of them playing this I think I could watch world end it's that good.

  • when they were better

  • @earwax12321 When they were acutally good*

  • @BigNacho You're honestly the only other Mudvayne fan I know who has ever said they're NOT still amazing. I honestly think that everything Mudvayne has ever shit out has been pure diamond-encrusted gold.

  • @TormentedYoung That's because I'm not a Mudvayne fan anymore. Starting with Lost and Found, it felt and sounded like they were making cookie-cutter songs for the radio rather than the music I enjoyed on their previous albums.

  • @BigNacho They definitely changed a lot, but I wouldn't say they're trying to fit mainstream radio or anything...bands just change, man. They evolve. I mean they've been doing albums for over a decade now. Yeah, they have a single or two on most of their albums--they've gotten bigger. Have you listened to their new self-titled? Look up everything other than 'Scream With Me,' because that's a single, ha, and tell me what you think. I think you may like it. It sounds a lot like their older stuff.

  • @BigNacho Get this though, how was Determined anything NEAR a 'cookie-cutter' song? If they played that on public radio the station could get shut down. What about Forget To Remember? That's a Metallica/A7x reminiscent song there and my fav on that album. Just and Pushing Through are sick too.

The New Game sucked, definitely, but the new album kind of made up for it. Heard It All Before, Closer and a few others sound like LaF and L.D. 50. Shut up. Mudvayne is the sickest band still around.

  • ED GEIN is my hero!!!!

  • this is a fav. kareoke song at my grandmas nursing home

  • @Kurrrg haha

  • @Kurrrg - LMFAO!!

  • WAHOO! niiiiiice great ;)

  • Nothing is left for me to gain they're coming to take me far away, Life of a simple man taught that everyone else is dirty and love is meaningless I'm so soiled Soiled Soiled Soiled Soiled Soiled Soiled Soiled Soiled Soiled
  • ‌‌ ‌ ‌

  • I did a film review in school on Psycho, so I did a good amount of research on Ed Gein. Dude was seriously tapped. Guy fashioned a suit out of women's body parts, and made random paraphernalia out of body parts. He had a whistle made out of the exterior portion of a vagina.

  • @NunStampede Thats pretty sweet, a vag whistle

  • @Rinaleightball1 Where can i get me one of those?...sounds hot.

  • @Rinaleightball1 sometimes they whistle while still attached LOL

  • @NunStampede dude my great grandfather used to play cards with gein. we even got one of gein's knives that was passed down. i swear that i am not shitting you, this is a true story

  • @rock4ever1993 Dude are you serious!!!!!!

  • @easyman3221 hell yeah I am serious

  • Gein was the OG crazy fucker....everyone else copied him....he was genuinely a crazy motherfucker

  • most people dont even know who ed gein is :L

  • @Jetstodown wasnt he the guy they based the texas chainsaw massacre after??

  • @mjohannsen89 Probaly since thats what he literally did. but idk for sure. only thing Iknow is his sad story.

  • @mjohannsen89 actually the character buffalo bob or w/e from silence of the lambs was based on Gein.

  • @Vermiliono he was loosley based on Albert Fish, i think

  • @mjohannsen89 yes, Leatherhead is based of Ed Gein, except Ed didn't use a chainsaw

  • @mjohannsen89 yes, Leatherhead is based of Ed Gein, except Ed didn't use a chainsaw, also the character of Norman Bates from Psycho was also based on him

  • 4 people have nothing to gein...

  • best damn album theyve made its so original and i love the deep sounds

  • Fucking killer album by far so RAW!!

  • hell ya!!

  • 4 people dont know what gein deserve....

  • this is the complete song.

  • first of all, i have pink eye....

this whole album is fucking awesome. kinda gives me chills.

if i wash my hands in others blood, am i sick?!

  • @MrPeeintheShower all i know is if the blood is coming out of your sink....you need to see a plumber.

  • first of all, i have pink eye....

this whole album is fucking awesome. kinda gives me chills.

  • i like the lyrical style of this album

  • suck it mudvayne haters

  • Anyone besides me know what this song is about? It's about Ed Gein a Schizophrenic serial killer and cannibal. Freakin awesome song though!

  • @guitarwes04 he wasnt schizophrenic, his mom kept him sheltered from the real world and taught him her perverted versions of christianity... when she died ed sealed off her room and went bat shit crazy, started taking womens corpses from graves, killing women, wearing their skin, etc .... very very disharmonious

  • @guitarwes04 Most 'vayne fans do. Or at least LD50 fans. Hahaha in order to appreciate this album, it takes a certain level of intellect.

  • nerd moment, for some reason this song reminds me of sephiroth.

    just me? meh

  • I can scream like this not as good as Chad though. It is fucking hard screaming this fast and long with this tempo any singer knows this. I give props to Chad he makes it look easy. I fucking love Mudvayne...just wish they were the same as they were before.

  • @swimmer565 Been listening to this shit since I was like... 13 and have tried to scream along the entire time. Only now can I get it down,

  • @IntoTheEternity its hard as hell isnt it?

  • when i first got this cd, this was my favorit song, i never knew why!! it wasnt until a yr or so later i was looking at the name of the song, then it hit me!! GEIN!! see lol theres a reson behind everything!!

  • I forget how much I love Mudvayne albums

  • Life of-a simple man taught that everyone else is dirty and love is meaningless

    I'm so soiled

    ...Soiled...Soiled...Soiled ...Soiled ...Soiled ...Soiled ...Soiled

  • I wonder what gein was like.

  • @Reptair0zone Well he collected vulvas in a box. I think that's kinda self-explanatory about what he was like haha xD

  • @larry52333

I know but think about it, was he friendly yo those he didn't kill..?

If someone that knew him was asked if he was what he was would they have any doubt he was?

  • @Reptair0zone Honestly, I think even the worst people have at least one person that they like, or can tolerate, or be friendly to... Or pretend to hate them but actually care about them if only slightly so that might partially answer your question. That's human nature.

  • @larry52333 My question was how he was..not how he acted towards others.

Just as a person you would see at a local store or somewhat...was he normal in public or hidden in the shadows?

  • @Reptair0zone Okay, that makes more sense. I figure he was probably a strange person in public but contained his insanity to appear normal. I've not done much research on Gein so I wouldn't know but that's just my guess.

  • fuk yea

  • this album was probably dedicated to his mom. wow

  • @migso its about ed gein the deranged killer and his mom

  • favorite song when i was 13. ;p

  • love this song, its funky, psycho, and hard core at the same time lol if that makes any since.

  • this is like my favorite song by mudvayne

  • soud like the 70's beats 1:21

  • i used to sing along with this song XDD. except i shut up when he started screaming cause i can't do that shit XD

  • lol heard that!

  • hell yeah!

  • YEAH!! this is my favorite.

  • damn this song is funky fresh >:)

  • The bass in this song makes me want to kill myself

  • @JBthree24, ill take that as a good thing, lolz

  • Lyrically speaking... this is by far their best work I've heard thus far.

  • @ShinigamiOni the lyrics are fuckin great. i think this is there best work period not just lyrically.

  • The whole LD50 album is genius.

  • @MudTide1993 yeah. It really is.

  • @MudTide1993 Could not agree more. Always thought it was equal to Tool's Anemia as far as genius record albums go.

  • @MudTide1993 the best. Ever. I dare someone to tell me other wise ill slap the stupid dumbass out of them.

  • @dieinafirevideos Haha it's most certainly my favorite.

  • @MudTide1993 It truly was a work of art, IMO , it still stands alone as one of the best albums of its time, during the Slipknot/Mudvayne/SOAD era L.D.50 l..l,

  • @Frieza1999 i wanna go back to that time

  • probably one of the most creative songs by mudvayne, andmy personal favorite, i wish there was an official video to it :)

  • Most of any musical groups or bands best work aren't always singles or hits.

  • there is dude

  • LIFE AS A SIMPLE MAN

  • is there a horror metal. cus this and alot of mudvaynes songs sound like that. to me any ways. especially DIG.

  • fucking powerful.

  • taught that everyone else is dirty when love is meaningless

  • Love the volume swells on the symbols.

1:10 Ryans bad ass base lines mixed with the the muted stings with the wah pedal.

  • I remember we watched "Psycho" in my Film and Literature class in high school. The killer in the movie, Norman Bates, was influenced by Ed Gein, so I offered to bring in a copy of this song along with the lyrics to it for extra credit. And I remember the face on my teacher's face while she was reading the lyrics was like "Wtf?!" haha. Thanks to Mudvayne, I got extra credit and ultimately passed the class.

This is my favorite song of all time though.

  • Man these lyrics are intense, Chad Gray's quite the writer

  • pretty much everything is good except for their new album. atleast in my opinion...i want the old mudvayne back, i only like 1 or 2 songs from the new album.

  • Death Blooms, Pharmaecopia, Internal Primates, Skrying, World So Cold, Nothing To Gein, Cradle, Mercy, Severity...the list goes on.

  • They don't have a song called Mercy or Severity. It's Mercy Severity just for a small correction... You misplaced your comma...

  • se basaron en el asesino en serie Ed GEIN xDD no es broma y de ED GEIN tambien se baso tobe hooper para hacer la matanza de texas

  • im so soiled!..... (*soiled*) (*soiled*)

  • drink beer

  • who dares to put mudvayne in the same catagory as rap???

  • Korn better than Mudvayne? Doubt it....Korn has no feeing and logical connection to their fans, its just their music!!! Mudvayne though, has depth, the music and the lyrics. Their songs are deeper and more powerful.....no contest!!!

  • no not with mudvayne but with korn it is the exact oppisite

  • I love the lyrics...

  • awsome

  • imprints of flesh corpse gouge down with skin upon my face!!!!!!!! xxx

  • sooo good

  • again mudvayne its not rap

  • Amazing song, one of their best. The song managed to be both creepy and tragic. The bass is awesome, I also love the mood of the outro. Not sure if it's nu-metal or not, it's more complex then your average nu-metal for sure. :-)
