I saw Chuck Brown perform last month, and I was impressed by how great he still sounded! They're both such talented musicians and would have loved to see them perform together again. RIP Eva
Eva... beautiful.... This song? Greeny, no doubt about it. No question. Greeny had more soul than people realize. Trust me, it's because of Greeny that you're hearing this now, and of course, Little Willie John.
I have a mutable top 10 songs I maintain in my 47 year old head but this is a permanent fixture. I've listened & studied every version I could find, this one, Irma, Gary Moore, Paul Weller & Adele (uk dudes) & YT noobs. For me its soul is a mellow, haunting blues without the jazz. It's Pete Green all the way. What's more, I'll be seeing him in Feb. :)
Beautiful version. True, Peter Green's version is still the one for me, but miss Cassidy has a voice like a blues-fuelled angel. Thanks, great upload!
This is also on the Chuck Brown (with Eva Cassidy) CD "The Other Side", which isn't available on YouTube. I bought the CD through Amazon, and It is my most treasured CD. The two voices together are unbeatable. Chuck Brown is the one who brought Eva into national attention in the U.S. (she had already taken the UK by storm with the Sting song "Fields of Gold").
@4239emma Sorry, Emma. I'm an old lady. I have to ask my grandson (by long distance) to help me put phone numbers in my cell phone. To upload on the Internet is way beyond my technical capabilities. I bought The Other Side via Amazon, and it wasn't very expensive--well worth having.
@4239emma It is available for sale. If you buy from her website, the proceeds go to charity. Not everything in life is free. People spend money recording, producing, and pressing CD's.
