To all who say that we (US) are not responsible for the mess created in Haiti --- please read up on the outing of Aristide back in 1994. In fact, read up on all the history of US-Haitian "relations" in the past century. It is shameful. I don't know what the solution is - but if McCain professes that we need to clean up the mess that we made in Iraq before we pull our troops out- then why doesn't he hold the same opinion for Haiti? Think about it!

Stop U.S. rice exportation to Haiti while you're at it. Take out the parts of the mess you made of Haiti's economy. The U.S. exploits this 3rd world country and wants no hand in fixing it.

I think the money could be used for better things if the UN is serious about helping Haiti. How about recruiting, training, and strenghtening the PNH? Their problems is lack of fund. That's why you have the gov. cutting deals with drug dealers. If PNH had resources and stuff, there's no saying how far they would go. It's not that the foreigner does the job better.
