was brought to this page and back to my mispent youth by watching mcfly cover live and let die. would love to hear bw do that again. their live shows were so good still dont know why it didnt happen for them. anyone know what happened to rory? still squatting in some derelict flats perhaps?
was watching mcfly on britains got talent cover live and let die which sent me back to my misspent youth and brought me to this video! love it! would love to hear them do live and let die again too. anyone know what happened to rory? can see him still living squatting in some derelict flat but who knows!?! great guy, great unsung band. still dont understand why it never really happened for them ???
Ben is currently drumming with Whistleblower (ex The Moment) and at Camber Sands Scooter Rally last weekend (July 4th), Scot joined in on the encore. Had to hold back from shouting out for Goodbye Jimmy Dean! Was a sublime moment indeed.
years ago, two parents went out for dinner. A few hours later, the babysitter was calling to ask if she could cover up the clown statue in the kids' room, the father said,"Take the kids and get out of the house. We'll call the police, we don't have a clown statue." The "clown statue" is really a killer that escaped from jail. If you don't post this letter on to 10 videos tonight, the clown will be in your bed at 3:00 am with a chainsaw in his hand
This song suddenly came into my head last night and i thought there is no way this would be on Youtube and it WAS ! Thankyou so much for posting this, i remember taping this and watching it over and over and over !I bought the single too on 7 inch, it was eyebrow rock that should have been HUGE ! great band !
Anyone got footage of "Platform Boots," "Now What Earthman," "Hotrod," Tenmilliontonheadache," "Goodbye Jimmy Dean," or any of the best that should have been from these guys?
We sometimes played first on to BW and abroad, they once played first on to us. Great? Live? Have rarely since seen better. Must have seen them play about 20 or more shows and once caught Ben and Scott unplugged at Ronnie Scotts. Nostalgic? Nah, they were, are and always will be good. Only wish there was more film of them. Steph - LIT.
I followed them around also! By far this was the worst single though....'Goodbye Jimmy Dean', 'Hotrod' (B-side) and 'Now what Earthman', as songs alone, were far superior. Ben once admonished my cries of 'fake eyebrow f**ker' @ the (old) Marquee with the reply of 'you should check out your teeth mate!'. Ah...such verbal slangings don't exist these days. He was right though - I do have shite teeth. Still, I had more hair than he did then & probably now. I get the last laugh...Huzzah!!!!
Without doubt one of the best bands of the 80s - how they weren't massive is a mystery. Only saw them once in their 'dance' phase before they split. Post more BW!
I loved this lot, there was no-one else like them at that time.If only they'd formed a few years later amidst Britpop they would have been big.Still Corduroy were good too so I guess it kinda panned out for them !
The best band that never made it big. A true crime of the twentieth century. They hit the in the shoegazing period of the music scene, and were never taken seriously by the music press. Great memories of the Poppin Parlour on Saturday afternoons and drinking in the basement of the Spice of Life. Fucking Ace!
I know. For about a year, the gigs got busier and better and it seemed like we were at the beginning of a great new band. Then they split up and formed corduroy who have also split. The boys wonder reunion starts here!!
I wrote to their original manager a couple of years ago and he told me Ben and Scott were meant to be remixing an album they recorded for Sire around this time, guessing 1987. I haven't heard anything back from him for ages. The plan was to release a single, I think it was called Never Been To Mayfair, first. But I guess it never happened. Graham popped up in VH1's Bands Reunited show on Haircut 100 ~ he's a tree surgeon now somewhere in the west country....
"Mayfair" is fantastic, I've got a CD featuring, "Shine On Me (demo)", "Mayfair", "Honesty", "Kiss This", "Never Steal Anything Small", "Stick 'Em up".
Jim Carrey from Dumb and Dumber on guitar.

Used to love seeing this band. I remember they had a great tune called 'I'm Alright Jack'...and another called 'Elvis '75'.
Definitely ahead of their time even though they were quite retro in their infuences and fashion.

I must've seen this lot about a hundred times over a couple of years in the late 80s - all over the UK and on the infamous french trip.

Ben and Scott are the true pioneers of Brit Pop. I miss them dearly. I never had as much fun at a gig as did watching Boys Wonder and Corduroy.

These simply were the best live band ever.I used to follow these all over the country in the late 80's and early 90's.

I wonder if there are any Corduroy promo videos on here.
Must take a look.
BTW, does anyone know what year this TV clip is from?
