the situaton is really different, hollyoaks story line is more brutal and angst while atwt is just really soft, i mean the gf accept it differently, maddie accept it better than sarah, n she still befriend with luke indiffrenly, while sarah keep on yelling at john paul... i think it's not about the actor, it's about the story line...

I love both Luke&Noah and John Paul&Craig! But no comparison between them.

Maddie didn't react so bad like Sarah because Maddie and Noah weren't even together very long because she was on the rebound from her ex boyfriend. Sarah and Craig were together for a very long time and she really loved him.

So no comparison on how Maddie and Sarah found out about them.

How can you compare the two? Don't get me wrong I love Van and I think his talent is wasted on ATWT. But the McDean s/l was so well written and very well acted. The Mcdean s/l is still the best soap s/l I have ever seen.

That McDean reveal was truly one of the best things I've seen on a TV show. It was crazy perfect. You really feel for all the characters even when Craig was being a jerk.

I don't think you can even compare Hollyoaks to a show like ATWT or any American daytime soap. Hollyoaks simply has better production values, sets, editing, writing, etc. ATWT couldn't even afford a scene like that.

I always live reveals that have almost the whole town there so I believe Hollyoaks win. ATWT could have done a better job, Maddie didn't even see them kiss, she only got an implied response from Luke and that was it.

The thing is, is that I think out of the four, Van is the strongest actor, and Jake is the weakest. That's just my opinion, but I do think you can group Van, Guy, and James together, so I don't understand why everyone i saying that Hollyoaks acting is so much better. It's different characters and storylines, and each story is presented in its own way.

For soap operas, I think both are very realistic scenes.

I prefer Luke and Noah as a couple, but the Hollyoak scene wins hands down.

Also, I think the directing in the Hollyoaks scene was better. The camera angles, and the slow motion along is what made it so much more epic and rememberable. Not only that, but with Craig and John Paul, that scene was meant to be a climatic, but with Noah and Luke, it was only anticlimatic.

Guy's acting was impecable, and you can feel the pain seeping into your heart.  It was meant to be a lot more subtle situation for Luke and Noah.

I retract my statement from almost a year ago. Although I said the Hollyoaks scene won, I said Luke and Noah were my prefered couple. That has since changed. Luke and Noah don't interest me anymore. However, McDean is still awesome.

It´s the acting that was awesome in Mcdean. And the chemistry between the actors!! I tried to watch Luke and Noah more than once, but american soaps are just blah...and their acting made me "hmmm...do I really want to watch this?" No offense to Nuke fans, just my opinion!!

It's hard to choose between two such different situations.

Maddie is such a sweet, loving and understandinh woman who accepts how hard it is for Noah to accept his feelings for Luke, and she tries to help him even though she is deeply hurt by his lies.

With Sarah all she can see is the hurt, which is understandable considdering that she finds out at her engagementparty. And everyone finding out at the party just makes everything worse.

My favorite couple though is John Paul and Craig.

Luke/Noah all the way! I know people are saying that Luke/Noah is not as 'full on' as JPC but thats because in America its a new thing having a gay couple on daytime TV, so they are taking it slow. If it was in the UK that ATWT aired then Luke/Noah would be able to show their true magnificence/be more 'raw', but unfortunately thats not the case and they cant be AS raw, at least not RIGHT now, but they are getting better in what stuff they air of them. Both are great but Luke/Noah does it for me.

yet again Mcdean all the way. The Nuke/Maddie situation is a little too sutle for me. Although if both situations were real life you would want to find out the way maddie did and NOT how Sarah does!! The thing that blow me away with these scenes is Guy Burnet. OMG I so feel his pain as well as Sarah's ( great acting also to Loui Batley). In terms of having to out Craig in such a public way I was not liking JP for these reveal episodes but for the good of the soap it was done brillantly.

clearly the jp and craig reveal is better - it had been building for so long! Its amazing! Over a year later Sarah (craig's girlfriend at the time) still hates jp.

ATWT is less dramatic while Hollyoaks is over the top. Maybe it's Sarah that ruined it for me...being all hysterical and whatnot. I hate it when people are hysterical. lol

I think I would act more like maddie. A man cant help who he falls in love with, but both Noah and Craig should have told the truth. I hate how Noah goes at Luke, though i do love that head wiggle by luke. and I hate how Craig reacted to what JP said.

I like Van Hansis(luke) as an actor, he is so believable, as is the one who plays JP, but the one who plays craig is kinda melodramatic and stuff. And Jake sibermann (noah) is great but not as good as Van with the melodrama, more scripted seeming. I liked both, this one is hard.

Hollyoaks for sure. Some people have already talked about the differences in the male actors. I'll focus on the females. When Sarah found out her exressions and lines were very believable. Especially "so one day you just thought... how could you do this to me?!'"

Maddie however, her lines screamed "I read the script" to me. Especially "stop lying" and "you used me". Not believable at all imo.

I wish the American soaps will improve their believability in acting.

American soaps are faster paced, with much shorter scenes and storylines. American men generally aren't protrayed as "criers." Van Hansis is actually pretty darn accurate in his protrayal of a gay teen in so many ways.

I love the guy that plays John Paul although he seems to cry alot. The "revelation" scene is a bit over the top and reminds of the death scene in "Carrie."

I don't really thing that the hollyoaks scene is over the top, I actually think it's very accurate to the story. If you have seen hollyoaks, you know that Craig is in deep denial about his feelings and you know how afraid of the truth he is. When the truth comes out, his whole world just falls apart.

When Maddie finds out about Noah, she has only been with him for a month and she's not in love with him, nor are Luke and Noah in love with each other at this point. Still, a year ago when Luke came out to his parents and Kevin, he never completely fell apart but was obviously very emotional in Van Hansis' protrayal

I don't think John Paul cries a lot, I just think he cries a lot in public. Most guys will wait until they're completely alone before they let a tear fall. My girl friends and I talk about how our boyfriends seem to cry surprisingly a lot more than we do, lol.

no contest Hollyoaks won, American soap actor's (some) are not to convincing enough when they act out their lines. American writer's come out with great story lines but when these "so called" actor's don't play the character right, they kill the story, not like the actor's in Hollyoaks. When I first came across it (Hollyoaks) on youtube, I thought, "oh, another soap and its in UK."

True. ATWT has a great storyline going, but when you look at some of the scenes sometimes, It's over the line cheesy. Sometimes Noah can be sort of...weak when it comes to his lines. Not saying he's a bad actor. I happen to think Jake is a fantastic actor, but just the way the characters have to present themselves. Of course this is daytime and Hollyoaks is nighttime soap. I'm sure that is part of the difference.
