  • ...me gusta más el cover de Warren Haynes. XD

  • great effort no were as good as the orignal not a satc fan but thought he done some nice work with this

  • Its almost like they have taken everything away from the original that made it great and replaced its with emotionless guitar wanking and "I wish i was black" singing. truly awful, musical rape! How has this got more views than the original?

  • @TheMonkeyallen88

    FOOKIN DOUCHE!!

  • @CoreThrasherGLB

I'VE GOT TWO WORDS FOR YOU, FUCK YOU! This is a masterpiece. If you could play 1/10th of what Satch can play, then you're allowed to comment on such things. If you could translate and pick up every note willy played on the horn onto the guitar in a matter of seconds, you're allowed to comment. If not, shut the fuck up and keep your opinions to yourself. This is a masterpiece with such great talents combined together. This is how prolly the songs in heaven would sound like.

  • @sucass90 why should you be the only one to comment? stapleddick

  • Amazing...top act at the 2007 Jammy's in NY...they blew away the crowd...cool idea to combine brilliant components to create such a masterpiece! Can listen to this piece hundreds of times without losing interest!

  • Who the heck is the horn player? - he is phenomenal, as are the rest of course.

  • Love the way she sings "What a Killer"

  • Wow that girl can sing!!!!!!!!

  • what is the name of the concert?

  • @MrBeatsmuggler ...this was recorded in NY at the Jammy's in 2007...if you search for Jammy or Jammys 2007 on google or ebay you will find the DVD available..it is amazing!

  • 117 mainstream-MTV pop artists disliked this....

  • OMG this is a 6.31 min long EARGAZM!!!

  • Joe is an ugly MoFo

  • @MedFouziALch we don't know you either but we advise you to sound a bit more intelligent with your next post!

  • @MrJohnny1229 I deleted the post ^^

  • @102938abel starting on a very wrong Foot here, I would like To apologize For before, I'm being the ugly mofo talking like that, I'm very Sorry I hope You're not mad at me, I just can't help but blow off when someone insults joe Cause he's a really nice guy, Anyway no hard feelings (I deleted the comment above)

  • @MedFouziALch Nooooo problem! I liked your response. It shows you have a real love for music and Joe Satriani in particular. I never really listen to Satriani. He's an outstanding guitar player ............By the way, i'm pretty damn ugly myself.

  • @102938abel So what's your point?

  • @Jackle61 There are so many things I could say about Joe that have already been said before, and it's so easy to just type in anything you want while on youtube. I had no point. I was just responding the way I felt at the time. Taking a second look at the video, I would say Joe is as beautiful as his guitar playing.

  • Grace Potter reminds me of Janis Joplin

  • @burtonh1 ...yeah, she looks nothing like Joplin, sounds nothing like her, and actually, unlike Joplin, she plays and instrument...bad comparison!

  • Fantastic!

  • oh snap, didn't know that Voldemort could shred on the guitar :O

  • Wspaniały numer, wspaniale zagrany, można go słuchać bez końca.

  • May be the best musical performance I have EVER seen!

  • @gimmedaalbatross I COULDNT AGREE MORE! AB-SO-LUTE-LY FREAKIN AWESOME !

  • what is the name of this song please? i don t remember ...

  • @MrVince117 Go troll somewhere else..

  • @MrVince117 Umm, it's in the title?

  • THE best alliance of instrumentalistes for this song

  • the stage didn't blow up. 0.o isn't there a law somewhere prohibiting this much talent in the same vicinity?

  • Now I see why Satch always wears sunglasses on stage. :)

  • Yeowwwwww!

  • 1:17 is an epic lick

  • Great music, and Grace is so fu# king fine !

  • how about joe satriani playing after having taken LSD? his face...

  • @SimplesmenteYudi Satriani's face does look weird but consider what his mind was doing at that moment: he was listening to Willy's 16th-note fast run on trumpet and instantly translating it to guitar. I am not a Satriani fan except in this recording. He and Willy trade some amazing licks.

  • CORTEZ, CORTEZ, ITS 2012!!

  • WoW !! This is NOW my Fav !! The Horn adds the Perfect sound to this great KILLER song Built to spill has the long & great Guitar & NY is NY but again WoW

  • Ah... yes! SWEEEEEEET!

  • y todos los días...regreso a oírlos. Me ENCANTAN cuánta pasión!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11111

  • 2 months ago I posted several comments... BUT..there were none to comment on.

NOW....I see many and many comments....I hope I was part of the attention this video is getting....

This group is one of the best I've seen... I know it was for one event but they played their butts off......

    Never seen anything like it.....

  • @zip00zap maybe there is more songs (videos) from same evening ?

  • Now this people, is good music.

  • @WysteriaGuitar More like an audible orgasm. Lol. Epic

  • блин, а гамал то не янг в оригинале. :(

  • these guys are not regulars together but they god damn nailed it like they were one band for decades. beautiful rendition. not only do you see talent and virtuosity but the sheer passion and the ups and downs of the song.. just amazing, chilling, for a live version. haters, take note!

  • @YoLpIsBest He did? Never heard that one and I as big a Neo fan as there is. I like this version myself, but I've never heard your claim.

  • I'm a HUGE Neil Young fan. But I'm not one of those assholes who gets all uppity because someone does a cover. In this case, they did a nice version. Haynes was better, but I really enjoyed this.

  • if you want blues boy, leave it to Satch..he'll kick your butter

  • The trumpet player is Willy Waldman and he is awesome. Pretty much always.

  • Not a big fan of, as Rick Emmett calls it 'whiddly whiddly' but that's some great playing by everyone. I'm now a fan of the trumpet player & that pitch (also called 'pick) harmonic at 5:09 by Satriani that mimics Grace Potters earlier pitch crescendo was simply intuitive genius.

  • Wich year was this peformance?

  • This video is the sole reason YouTube has a replay button.

  • Anyone who has anything to say negative about Satch hasnt really paid attention to what this man has been doing for so many years. He has set the bar higher than anyone else. Many base a judgement on him from his earlier albums but the fact is his music has progressed to such a high standard and he has proven he has the talent, soul, flash and humble persona that makes him HIGHLY respected and admired. Fact.

  • 177 dislikes? It always strikes me when i see great performances like this on youtube with dislikes, I mean what the hell would you have to do for some people to get their approval

  • @Bluebuthappy182 they're just deaf, and probably blind too... i feel sorry for them.

  • Im tell you right now fuck all them satriani haters who say he plays souless... Look into the mans eyes when hes soloing, his own music takes him into a different world. Dude has mad skills..

  • They are all playing their asses off, but interestingly enough they fail to capture any of the weight or emotion of the original. This is a heavy, heavy song.

  • I wanna hear Satch do more with horn players. They sounded so perfect together.

  • Nothing against Gilmour but Satriani, when it comes to playing guitar, is one of the best there is...

  • "I’d rather hear David Gilmour play one note and break my heart than Joe Satriani play a million and it do nothing to me."

    Ahahahaha. Ignorance.

  • the horn kicks ass and really adds to the song....couldn't belong more

  • Great job all around,...Grace having fun,...Joe rockin,...Just beautiful!

  • The title of this video should be Grace Potter, Joe Satriani, and (trumpet player's name) because he has more passion than anybody during this performance. Not that the others don't have passion too; every member of this band was playing exceptionally well.

  • nothing better than 'burnt' trumpeter i think.... ;d

  • Sorry man but that horn does not belong. Love this tune and I love horns but NO!!

  • @Michiganman2cali Wow! How wrong can one be? There are countless ways to address your goofiness but howsabout the conquistador angle? Ya know, Spanish flave and all... good god man, broaden your horizons! Awesome passion from start to finito!!

  • @justgoodkarma Your an idiot. You have no ideal how broad my horizons are. The Horn does not belong and that's my "opinion" Now try and have your own without trying to insult others.

  • Ciągle tu wracam, świetne - pozdrawiam. Ktoś wie gdzie można kupić płytę z tym utworem ?

  • i dont like the trumpet guy

  • @TheOrona1234 That's alright, he doesn't think much of you either. ;-)

  • it was cool!!! awesome!!!

  • SERIOUSLY SICK- JUST SICK!

  • this chick is heavy man!

  • great

  • Hammer!!!

  • i forgot to breath, -this is what i call breathtaking performance!

  • This is the grace i love

  • Wow. Either I got shivers because it's cold or because Grace Potter has an incredible voice.

  • I mean breathless...

  • woaow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    breatles....

  • Prendidísimos....Una rola Muy sexy..I love it!!!!!!!!!!

  • There is so much beast held up by that stage. I wonder what it's built out of?

  • That's so much beast on one stage, I wonder what it's built out of.

  • magestic inspirational epoc!! to me, this is just phenominal!! fantastic ensemble!! thank you for sharing!!!! 8]

  • I prefer the Warren Haynes-Matthews cover.. Haynes plays it with so much more emotion.

  • after 4:42...Satch just takes off...

  • Grace Potter plus all performers === best cortez killer version

  • Cortez just shot 175 dilikes

  • are you frackin kidding me, Neil Young's sitting back saying "Damn, check this out"

  • lol they all had a musical orgasm at one point in the song

    Grace potter 2:20 - 2:30 and 3:10 - 3:40 (she wouldn'tquit smiling after that lol)

guitarist 4:14 - 5:06 (lol look at his face)

drummer 5:12 (very into it aha)

Trumpet 5:15 - 5:40 (damb he was sweaty)

Actualy fuck it, the entire preformance was just one 6:31 minute long epic musical orgasm of perfection.

  • @sTapleEVA

When talking about music I like "rapture" or "ecstasy" rather than "orgasm", but yes, as you said

  • @sTapleEVA 4:14 is not a guitarist. It´s God.

  • @sTapleEVA Exactly! That's exactly what I was thinking when I saw this on tv just now. The guitarist seemed high but I can understand perfectly how he got that way just from the music.

  • hot!

  • What's the genre of this cover ??

  • Good version of a classic Neil Young song. Check out DMB and Warren's Hayne's lengthier version. Another gem remake!

  • Oh god, grace...i love you

  • This woman looks pretty good actually. Singing is not bad as well:)

  • goose bumps and a bonner.... best cover ever..

  • Satriani is GOD!

Im not saying this figuratively, he is GOD... literally...

  • anyone knows what kind of pedals did joe use at this amazing live?

  • @mrcrowley951

probably a few of his own, the VOX Satchurator most likely (and yes it's awesome!). He also has a few more, you should check them out, they are great and reasonably affordable.

  • @Thompsongast thanks!!!

  • wracam do tego utworu i muszę powiedzieć, że świetnie to wyszło

  • i want to find tabs for this miracle....can anyone tell me?

  • i all ways love it

  • joe killed it with the octive squeel i play guitar and dont even know wtf he did lol

  • Comment removed

  • @Thedeal1282 pinch harmonic on top of the pickup+whammy bar

  • Cortez should kill 172 people it seems.

  • @oftheeld I think 172 people just don't like a Bugle Horn trampling all over Satriani's solo.

  • @delataylor It's a jam, it wouldn't be one if Satch was soloing by himself.

  • @oftheeld It's not obvious that I wasn't being very serious by pigeonholing 172 people's opinions to one part of the song? However, notice I didn't say, "..and the drums, piano, rhythm guitar, bass and Grace should all shut up while Joe plays." I simply pointed out that the Bugle Horn played some nonsense too loudly over Joe's solo, in a comical way. Also, this isn't some backyard jam, it's a produced performance. A "Jam" doesn't require blatant mistakes by professionals and allows for solos.

  • @delataylor I sense no mistake; I have listened to this performance at least 20 times and at no time felt like you about the horn not going well with the guitar solo. We'll have to agree to disagree I guess.

  • @oftheeld Maybe you should become a professional musician or sound tech and then listen to it another 20 times. Also, thanks for not accepting your foul definition of a "jam."

  • @delataylor I already am a professional musician. I have stated nowhere that I changed my mind about the definition of jam I had in mind too. I guess you should get your head out of your ass and try listening to it like that.

  • @oftheeld Great, so as an angry professional musician, you think that a "jam," requires more than one person playing a "solo" at the same time?

"It's a jam, it wouldn't be one if Satch was soloing by himself." -Some Professional Musician

"In music, a 'solo' is a piece or a section of a piece played or sung by a single performer." -Some Amateur Dictionary

  • @delataylor I'm guessing Vai, Satch and Malmsteen didn't know about that during the g3 concert in denver.

I'm not angry. I realized it would be exhausting to get mad at every stupid thing on the internet quite a while ago.

  • @delataylor By the way, that concert with Satriani, Vai and Malmsteen playing together was awesome! I had never seen that before. Thank you. I did however notice they did an incredible job (seriously impressive with three lead guitarists) of letting eachother play their solos out and not all improv different things at full volume over eachother.

  • beautiful

  • This is the best cover of Cortez the Killer I have heard. Amazing Grace really lives up to her name !

  • calidad de canal,buena musica

  • thats real music... reading the lyrics off a piece of paper..

  • @caseystamand

This was a one off performance. Grace never played with them prior to this .

  • @caseystamand Grace is legally blind and has the lyrics printed in very large type. This is not a song she normaly perfroms but she nailed it ! They all did !

  • @russellbvi I didn't know that, she is a great singer, Neil Young takes the solo over Satriani though.

  • @caseystamand Agreed but its difficult to compare this version with the original They are both outstanding !

  • @russellbvi Do you want to stick with that! If she was "legally blind" the lyrics would have to be 3 or 4 times bigger...she was 2 or 3 feet away from the lyrics wriiten down. Which were as big as MANY bands have written down.

I'll give Grace a buzz and see if she appreciates your comment!

    PLEASE!!! Give me a break.......

  • @zip00zap It's a fact, check it out ! I said she is LEGALLY blind, she can't get a driving license, because her eyesight is so bad ,etc. What is your point ? She was not famamiar with the lyrics and had them written out but she nailed it !

  • @russellbvi who's blind O_o? grace???

  • Lord Voldemort Rules!!!

  • puta que buen tema ...!!!

  • Bloody hell, she's hot

  • @ras3cue You are sooooooooooooo right!

  • save this comment. "I want every person working to look this "into" their performance. Order a cajun spicy biscuit and everyone feels it. WOOO

  • @yellowzor WHY are you so hung up on HEROIN!!!!! IF he was on heroin, HE STILL PLAYED THE HELL OUT OF HIS GUITAR!!!!!!!!!

Are YOU saying YOU could NOT make it because you did the "H"?????

  • i'm pretty sure the 200 views are mine....i've fall in LOVE with this song...you know,it gives me feelings that i can't even express with words...it empowers me with a BOOST of power and it helps me love,hate,and..................be myself.......

  • @StoneDeafBand Hey dude......I was ALL positive in my response to this video....(not to you)

You mentioned "piss poor" (concerning Neil Young)....

SO!!!! WHO was actually NEGATIVE??? Not ME~~~ with it buddy~~~~ YOU were negative from the START!!!!!!

Your generation needs to deal and not DEFLECT..as you just tried to do!!

    YOU screwed up.......ACCEPT IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @StoneDeafBand Not sure what you were trying to say..... I said this was the BEST that PROFESSIONS CAN DO. You have to understand ALL of these people were the best of the best.

To slam Neil Young just shown how much YOU do not know about the music business. Neil wrote it, played it very well. Sure, he doesn't have the best voice in the world but HOW in the hell can YOU slam him!!??!!!

WHAT HAVE YOU DONE!!! Not a DAMN thing!!! Shame on you!

  • I've seen ( the original by Neil Young) and 7 or 8 other versions BY OTHER GROUPS This TOPS everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!THIS is the BEST!! No other group can top this!

The guy playing the trumpet was actually jumping after they stopped..HE knew HE NAILED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is the BEST of what professionals can do!!

    tom,

  • 6:08 > wanna be the microphone.... true masterpiece by the way, the Trumpet is one of the best i heard so far, and Satriani is godlike too, but that's not a big suprise.

  • you young people are used with the fact that music is Sound: dance, house ,hiphop, trance etc. throwaway music, emptyness. in 3 years forgotten by everyone.like joe. i grow up with Music

. clapton, hendrix.,young, the early zz top, free, stones, etc. etc. those musicians made music from their heart, feelings, moods. they had to say, tell, something.joe is an adept of new age. fast fingers,50 notes in a second. want to impress. ? . its not your fault. its the timespirit and lack of taste.

  • joe is playing with his hands, neil with his heart.

okay ,i dont like the reggae stuff neither. but there are marvellous live performancences of neil of this number. or listen to the album version on zuma or you tube. his solo is given you toothache,tears,everything...his solo really hearts. joe's solo is just "another lick". joe is making sound, neil music.really.

  • @nobelaerlaan

blabla every old blues guitarist is good, every new sucks blablabla good technique=no soul blabla

  • 6:02 wish i was this microphone

  • 169 people were killed by Cortez

  • I've watched dozens of times. Grace Potter was perfect and Joe's voicing was a perfect complement to Grace's voice and the trumpet. This is one the great, great performances for everyone involved.

  • to the buttnuggets out there dissin, joe can and does play three times faster in many of his compositions, that fact that he doesnt, is in taste with the song, and what the other musicians are playing, i think that he shows incredible restraint, stop hating enjoy what each musician bring to the piece of art, just my opinion.

  • still my fav youtube jam ever #1

  • @nobelaerlaan you spelled "threw" wrong. and joe might not be the best guitarist in the world, but that is subject to debate, and if you want to condescend due to your age you should be old enough to know that different people have different tastes. Joe Satriani is an incredible guitar player, if he's not your particular favorite no harm. no foul. But at 61, you should be old enough to know that NO guitarist is the definitive "best guitarist in the world".

  • listen kids. i am 61 and i have seen and heard them all. joe is nothing but a robot who is playing guitar. 60 notes in 1 second doesnt make you the best guitarist of the world! i had 5 cd's of joe until i discovered that his music, his world is empty. i throwed them all away. i tell you that in 100 years people will still listen to the music of NY. joe will be forgotten . i am a teacher and i can teach everything....but not taste. try warren haynes and dave matthews on this song.

  • @nobelaerlaan I'm not far behind you at being 55...Sorry that you don't like Joe...but You're wrong about the robot thing...He's totally original and everything about him is musical. NY was more of your/mine era so you're probably a (bit) biased, I understand that, but you really should be a little more open minded about Satch. Personally he's one of my all time fav players....not many can come close.

    Thanx for listening.

  • @nobelaerlaan PS....Dave Mathews?.... Please

  • @nobelaerlaan - Come on - what a very tasteful, inspirational and just all around great jam on a vary great song by NY. Joe does an exceptional job here as does the rest of the performers period. I'd like to see you or anyone else pull off the pinch harmonic at 5:10 with such precision and timing. Good grief man, even if you don't like Joe's solo stuff this is one great performance in it's own right. The Dave Matthews performance pales and Warren Haynes is better than that but not this one.

  • @nobelaerlaan I find this version compelling, but in my humble opinion Warren Haynes is the best guitarist on the planet at the moment

  • @borderline4 In my humble opinion, the best guitarist on the planet is an unknown,, just some guy playing in his basement for his own enjoyment not caring if he makes it big or not. ;-)

  • YO! @nobelaerlaan! NY (Neil Young, for the uninitiated, wrote the original version of this song). doesn't do ANYTHING with "emotion and feeling" does he? If that's the latest test of artistic genius, then he's out, Dylan's out. Who else? He's essentially a balladeer who was writing(& performing) for himself & performed it exactly as he intended it to be. In fact, If NY knew such a version would ever be made, he would have shit-canned it. (Maybe not, the royalties don't hurt too bad). So, chill!
