  • For one thing it would be hard to control the gap and you would be limited to firing at TDC

  • why not implant stainless steel discs into the tops of the pistons for a plug to piston spark?? the burn could only be efficient and mpg would be at the highest right??

  • What kinda material is the spherical electrode made of?

  • Awesome video I dont know why the automotive industry doesnt use this design, firestorm plugs and plasma spark technology. I smell a conspiricy

  • 5% improvement is not bad if the cost is reasonable . add a few more improvements like synthetic oil and you are starting to save a lot of money at these gas prices

  • I talked to Krupas several months ago. I don't think his plug will ever go into production. A plug you can buy now, which produces about the same results is the Power Star. They will produce a real 5% improvement in efficency.

  • We are not working with the Firestorm plugs at the moment , we are testing a different plug . I did not try Pulstar plugs yet . we are waiting now for the next gen plasma driver to continue testing , ED2's Mad Hornet looks promising.

  • Is it better than Pulstar plugs, or about the same?

  • Have you got performance/fuel economy data?

  • @justinjoyit13 Without upgrading the ignition and only changing the plugs ,it added about 6% fuel economy on a Chevy 350 TBI

  • hmmm, someone should design one with a cage

  • @MetallicAsian Krupas plug, Firestorm, looked like a cage,, four "quadrants" of wire meeting at the top dead center of plug. The spark took turns "sparking" to each of the four quadrants, randomly. He reports 30% increase in power and mileage.

I spoke with him last year about this.

  • d3ejmz I can't contact you through 3756robind try moose532006

  • ngk makes asimilar plug the dynamics of that plug dont seemt o allow for good combustion

  • Could you place a magnet near plug and repeat this test please ? it would be interesting to see if the spark runs towards the magnet , if any change is realized it may be that inserting a magnet in the piston crown would increase things a bit.

  • I tried the plug next to a 150lb lift magnet and the plug didn't seem to care if the magnet was there or not.

  • The acceleration of electrons due to the magnetic field would not be toward the magnet or away from it. It would be in a plane perpendicular to the magnetic field. Because the distance traveled by the spark is short. The effects of this acceleration would be all but unobservable.

  • @robbosdog it would need to be strong plasma to do that. But, cool idea.

  • But how are you able to weld anything to a carbon, thats the thing that still bugs me.

  • What are you using that has a center electrode made of carbon ? All my spark plugs have a metal center electrode.

  • But the middle bit is carbon itself. How is it possible to weld a copper bit to it?

  • And what is the middle dome part made of?And its being fixed to carbon electrode? That confuses me the most.

  • The center electrode ball is tig welded and turned on a lathe before the outer cage is welded on . The carbon washer is only used to protect the ceramic insulator . I use nickel steel (material the regular spark plugs are made of) or beryllium copper for center ball

  • Do you have an instructional on how to make these? I have made myself some leads based on the Kiker wire design and would like to run these plugs with them.

  • @3756robind Will you please try out the e3 spark plug in this way or in a tester?

  • My van developed problems I can't work around anymore.Looks like its time to rebuild the ford 460.The firestorm plugs work,I just can't tell how well because of the motor problems.I used a Holley 750 vacuum secondary with #57 primary jets (stock is #72)and drove 60mph,problems came with hills. The passenger exhaust would get red hot,I also have a slight miss and exhaust leak.

  • Running very lean on that bank. Send me a private e-mail address please.

  • Can you make more and sell it?

  • My van has been down for a while.Should be ready tomorrow to test them on a 200 mile trip.I will know more later if they are worth making.

  • Since regular spark plugs tend to corrode and round-off, which was Krupa's initial inspriation... wonder what would happen if they took the ball-spark shape + PulStar's integrated capacitor design.

The plasma ball-spark would be enhanced by using a simple integrated capactor in the spark circuit to charge-discharge all that power, between spark-gap firings.

  • I think that when the plug is fired under pressure, (Krupa uses nitrogen to demonstrate) the plug creates plasma, rather than a spark. I'm not sure what voltage Krupa uses, but I think it is 100,000+

  • I wonder just how well the plug holds up in real life. Do the electrodes last as long as regular ones? Will it burn a hole in my pistons like Bosch and SplitFire can?

Does it REALLY increase MPG? How well does it work with Hydroxy?

  • I will know shortly how they hold up myself, after finishing up a few things first . The plug increases mileage by letting you burn a much leaner air/fuel mix (30/1 instead of 14/1)

  • How will you be able to adjust the A/F ratio?

How will you control cylinder heat so the pistons don't burn up?

    Water vapor injection maybe?

  • I can adjust the jets in the carb and yes I am going to use water injection with a exhaust gas temperature probe

  • Hi, I think you would benefit to look at my videos and come to the Overunity Forum to look at my circuit.

  • Robin

Nice work..looks good...can you explain somewhere how you make them...Pleassse

    Thankyou for sharing.

    Is it helping economy ?

  • I am now working on water injection so van is down. Will post mileage when I test again.Assembly photos are on - Yahoo Tech Groups- Waterfuel1978- Photos- Ball Spark Plug . Robin

  • it look like normal spark too me. that spark can not explode mist water

  • Beautiful work, I hope there are plnty others out there doing te same.

    Cheers

  • I did the tube and cold fog today and it tried to put the spark out.So you still need the LV part of the spark to make this work with water. Robin

  • Great job!!! Can you make me a set? I would like to buy some so I can test them in my truck. Call me if you can 417-251-1540.

    Thanks and God Bless

  • I love to buy 4 for my old car too.

  • Good Job!

I hope you made a spare! Take one of these, place it in a tube and Fire it with Cold Fog and your MSD! I hope to see if that is what we need for the Off the Shelf MSD type with your Replica. I can't wait!
