@AspieBehaviour Symptoms are easier to understand and combat once you have a name for them. Unfortunately knowing I'm one of many experiencing the same syndrome doesn't bring me any comfort.
@TheTayTalks What I mean is even non-aspies tell you that you're not going through this alone, but how can that give anyone solace? That usually depresses me further, hearing what a hardship everyone's else life is as well. With that being said, I didn't mean to detract from what you do. :)
Hi, it's not letting me respond to your comment up there. Thank you, I've always wondered what it was called. I've never been able to convey what it was I was doing or why, that helps so much. Thanks alot.
@TheEurythmicsFan I would probably count that. But some people may not. Sometimes I will listen to the same song over and over agian while I'm swinging. For that reason I would count it.
Thanks I understand my son (20) so much better now. You said aspies dont like talking about stimming - its too personal for them. I can relate, we are lucky you have been so brave in telling us. My son finished school & is withdrawing more into an internal world. He often tells us that the world will be different after the revolution - its his wish that the world could change - which would make it easier for him to live his internal world, externally. Does that make sense to you??
@jillmurrayvns Yes that does make sense. The more work a autistic world needs the more stimming is required. If you world is in a war, or building a new area it may take a toll on reality connections. Once those things pass it may become easier to stim less. When I was a young girl I wanted a calm world so my world has never been a extremly violent place, however I've heard the boy's worlds can be alot more violent. I can imagine how difficult it would be if things were not well in my world.
I tend to bite my knuckles or shake out my hands or grab my ears. I'm good about controlling it, though, and I've only done it publicly in times when I've been extremely overwhelmed. These videos are great!
I Used To Do Hand Flapping when i was little but when i reach to becoming a teenager that all change. nice video once again, i love these videos you make.
@CharlieHenburyTV Yeah I don't really hand flap as much as I did when I was a kid. I still do it though, just not in public. I'm glad you overcame it.

Does 'stimming' cover the repetitive nature of listening to the same piece of music or watching a TV programme or film over and over again?
