  • There is a very similar movement in Karate Goju Ryu.

  • LOL!! My Shuai Jiao teacher did a seminar once, years ago. At that seminar, he made everyone turn off the cameras, and face them the other way, and then taught this as secret techniques to deal with MMA guys.

In my experience, they really work, so long as you don't get faked out by thier set up.

  • Very nice! There are infinite numbers of techniques and defenses just have to find out what works and prepare for the worst.

  • learning a technique and apply it in a real situation are totaly two different things. I did submission grappling and have been practising traditional martial arts. the principles shown here can be applied but the techniques are not 100% certain that they will work. Besides a fighter will probably limit the defensive techniques to probably 1-2, and it depends on how good is the attacker. Presice timing is more important than just the technique. Good ideas require more realistic training

  • @andyzoi you're 100% right. all techniques really work, but in the heat of the moment it might not be the right technique to use or if the timing is off, you might need to use another technique. this is for all styles, and the reason bruce lee came up with the philosophy of jeet kune do. it's actually something we all use: USE WHAT WORKS!

  • more from the one s with nothing to prove.you have a good sifu, very gentle, i ve had both kinds gentle and not, and i always felt i learned more from the one s with nothing to prove.

  • @MrWayne1701 my sifu and i were talking about that same thing the other day! thanks for the positive comment

  • i love chinse martial arts

  • The first defense was actually my favorite shoot defense back in wrestling ... I only suggest that this should be combined with a sprawl to gain more momentum, and ensure your legs are clear. Otherwise a quick shoot will still get the legs.

  • @ohsteeev wow thanks for that advice!

  • This is a basic tackle. The defense shown would not work against a grappler's shoot. The step is deeper and THE HEAD IS UP that prevents him from wrapping the neck

  • @thaiboxer5 yes i don't know how to shoot which is a bad on my part, so it can weaken the application. like someone throwing a punch instead of a kick you'll need something different to work with! but this still is a tai chi technique we were going over, just applied to the certain way i did something. when i learn how to shoot, we can post more videos with me shooting at my teacher correctly!

  • The shooting of the take down is bad and affects the practicality of the technique. At the same time there a similar moves taught in wrestling so its possibility it could be used. When most people trained in wrestling or grappling are coming in for the take down they usually setup the move before shooting. So you can take advantage of that or have a variation of techniques if they did attempt to setup up for the take down.

  • cool i liked this alot :D

  • that was not a proper application of technique on the students part for a shoot you make it look like you have all the time in the world to gain enough leverage through clinching with him to apply the defensive approach but in real life you would not be able to defend yourself in such manner when confronted with someone trying to hurt you and I hope you will take this advice when applying a defensive technichue to the opponent

  • @seawinston1 yes you're right i don't know how to shoot. however there are other clips on youtube doing a similar technique against a takedown in which both fighters in the clip are professional grapplers. also, most techniques no matter what style don't come out 100% perfect in real application. the point is to familiarize ourselves with the situation so we don't freak out in real life

  • It's nice teach....

  • Great stuff!

  • This is a good idea adn will certainlky work if you can get thier head to the halfway point. But I wudld advise anyone intending to use this teachnique in a sports MMA competition to work it out with a wrestler. From ym expereince with it this technique is not adressing the penetration step of the wrestler, this will get thier hips under you and with thier head up and driving the momentum will make this method difficult to time on an unexpected shot. but gl though I'd love to see it work!
