1. Instead of using a stamped image, can I draw my own picture, outline it, color it and then use the gamsol? because I noticed that everyone uses stamped images when using gamsol.
2. what kind of paper are you using
3. Is it possible to use printer paper and get the same effect?
@dmrcm I don't think you can find Gamsol since I asked in micheals and they didn't seem to know what I was on about but if you ask them for Odorless Mineral Spirits then they usually have another brand of it and it works the same as Gamsol. If you want actual Gamsol then you can get it on ebay. Hope this helps
Love this card! I'm so glad to now be informed of how to "for sure" use gamasol. Learning techniques via a video tutorialso much easier for me as compared to a written tutorial. Your videos are easy-to-follow, and your presentation flows so nicely. After I watch them, I think 'Now, I can do tha, toot!' THANKS MUCH! ;)
Couldn't find Gamsol at Michaels crafts,so they sent me home with Odorless Mineral Spirits. I used a lot of it and no way is it odorless. I'm very sensitive to chemcials and was getting light headed from OMS.
Is Gamsol really odorless? I read somewhere to just keep your face away from the application. How is that possible if you are working with art?
! Be careful working with mineral spirits, they can cause skin cancer if you expose your hands to them. Had a professor who taught silk printing and he told me everyone he knew over 50 working in the profession who had used the stuff to clean up with a lot. (to get inks off) had developed skin cancer on their hands.
@Skaldi3 I've been in art for 20 years, no one I've known, and none of my teachers have developed cancer from OMS and it's not listed as a carcinogen in the concentration you're talking about.
@LottieSue Try looking it up on the "internet". It's a solvent, and any solvent is bad for your brain. Read the directions next time and use in a well-ventilated area.
I am so glad I found you! I love your videos, they are very clear and easy to follow. I was in a slump, but your ideas have me excited to stamp again!
Oh "thank you!" I do not do cards. Scrapbook only...but after looking at this I will have to give it a try!!! My husband will not thank you tho! Looks like another trip to Walmart. I just added you to my favorites! Thanks again!!
That is the best idea for a card I have ever seen, I just love how you did the "thanks" on your card, so very clever!!!
I wish I knew about the Gamsol and prisma coloring pencils before I got into the Copic markers LOL. This is so much cheaper to do!!!! Thanks a Ton!!!!
Love the card, so many ideas. Now I know what to do with those google eyes I bought at the dollar store(just bought them for fun). Thank you for those ideas...
I love this card especially the way you did the word thanks. Very clever. I will probably play it over and over until I make the card. I looked at AC Moore and Michael's for the Gamsol, but guess I have to go to an art store for it because neither one of them carry it.
I've played around with Gamsol a bit (also got mine from Inky Antics) but your way is so much easier. Or at least you make it look very easy. Looks like I need to pull it off the shelf and play around some more. Love the card! I have that same owl stamp. :)
Gamsol is a brand name. The actual product is odorless mineral spirits. You can find bottles of it at craft or hardware stores. The applicator (the rolled up paper "pencil") can be found in the art section of craft stores by the name of paper stumps. Hope this helps!
I bought Gamsol at Archivers. It comes in a kit with everything that you need to get started.

2. what kind of paper are you using
3. Is it possible to use printer paper and get the same effect?

Love your tip for aligning your letters! Those of you concerned about mineral spirits, try using Goo Gone instead. :)

Hi Linda,
If you have a walmart around your area, you can buy the Gamsol in the paint isle. Hope this helps!
