What a beautiful rendition of this song! I was at a memorial yesterday for a lovely Scottish man; his daughter sang this song as a tribute to her father and did a wonderful job too. Compliments to John Douglas ... you've truly written one for the ages! Compliments to Eddi Reader too ... I love her version and it is now like an old friend to me.
Could never decide whether I preferred the Eddie Reader or the Trashcan Sinatras version - but now here's another strong contender! What a beautiful rendition. I'm always SO impressed with folk who can give such wonderful impromptu performances like this.
Great stuff. I would love to hear it recorded on professional equipment. I always think it doesn't do a singer justice which is a wee bit unfair, when recorded on 'home' equipment and then played through a computer. I bet it was great in the room :)
My God your voice is simply pure and obviously a natural born gift. Please keep sharing more of what you both have been blessed with,it's the reason you have this rare talent. Plz
beautiful, what an amazing feel for the quiet soft touch this sound is intended to emote..............had a book wrote on the guitar tuning, but erased it. Nice finger picking though
Have to say I keep coming back and watching/listening to this lovely song wonderfully sung and accompanied on guitar. Can we look forward to further videos/songs?
Straight from the heart. No comercialism, just pure unadulterated melodic magic. I've fallen in love with this song because of this evocative performance, what talent. No record company could reproduce that, Gift from above. Thank you!
a great song......this lady does a wonderful performance......lovely song.. and very well sung...superb......she has a natural gift.. to preform and please...
I realised that all to late.Pity I hadn`t taken the time to read all the comments before passing mine and I would have realised this had just been an impromptu event.Though I like Eddi Readers version, also that of her brother in the Trashcan Sinatra and of course this version Take comfort in that the praise you have been given is for an impromtu event and not a studio set up like the aforementioned artists enjoyed. So once more, well done. Please share anymore material with us . Regards.
A superb singer whom I have never seen before. Pity the acoustics werent a little better, maybe being a little closer with the mike might have helped.Never the less a great duo with a great song. Hope you`ll perform on more occasions for us.
Superb prerformance of a truly beautiful song. These ladies make me so proud to be a scot! I was talking about this very song with my brother Calum just last week and how most people thinks its a burns song, while he is superb, on this occassion the credit goes to Trashcan Sanartas...great Ayrshire music
I recognise the lady on the guitar... don't quite know where from.. possibly a festival or something. Lovely song though. Always wanted to learn it but never got round to it!
just beauty-full, it´s something our kids are not getting enough of - sitting on the couch and singing songs together. Thanks for putting some beauty within my grasp...
Hi John, Just to let you know that the woman with the beautiful voice is Fiona Robertson and accompanying on the guitar is Elaine McGregor. Thank you for your kind comments, Fiona is fair made up! We all think your song writing is beautiful and incidentally all worship Eddi Reader. Best wishes Diane and Mags fae Dalkeith
Hi Macnab, John Douglas here, it's 3.42am, I stumbled on your beautiful version of my song...I raise a single malt to the pair o ye .. just beautiful. I'm not sure what lolliescot is on about .. the supernaturally wonderful Ms. Readers version is definitive and will shine through the centuries ... i do agree with everything else they said..you have made my night .. love, john xx
A beautiful haunting song. I am sure the two ladies will be delighted that the composer approves of their rendition.
This was filmed June 22nd this year in Dalkeith Scotland. We were visiting from Canada, staying at my sister in law's and the ladies were guests for an evening of Pizza and song. It certainly was a highlight of our trip.

Well perhaps the ladies might enlist the help of another friend who might video them and submit the new video for us to enjoy.

Not likely...I was simply the audience/camera man. The artists are friends from Scotland...I was visiting briefly from Canada.
